    I'll just leave these quotes here.
    "We have to look at the actual consequences of policies not the names of them"
    “The actual effect of requiring equal pay for equal work will be to harm women.”
    -Milton Friedman

    I think this type of legislation is utopianistic and pernicious. Also, good luck proving any of this in court. To do so, you should have to prove: The precise productivity of two workers are equivalent, the job history/experience of two workers are equivalent, the education of two workers is the same, the hours worked are the same, the two people must be in very similar jobs, the pay difference has to be easily noticeable, for a woman to sue using this they must have reliable information about a male's salary working in the same position as she, if it's in an industry that involves satisfying customers or the public in some manner, like acting, the individual suing must prove they make people equally interested in the content or satisfied in their service. They must prove they are equally as valuable among colleges or charismatic within a broader office atmosphere. You would have to prove the man and woman asked for raises at the same rate (if you don't ask for a raise effectively, you'll be paid less).Those are all I can think of an the spot, but many more may apply within a law suit.

      @@richierich1470 One has a degree the other doesn't. One has worked for the company 3 years longer. My first job at 16 ( after I taught myself how to arc weld) I agreed to work for the employer for a week FOR FREE to show him what I could do. My brother and I worked there all through high school and college making a lot more money then bussing restaurant tables., It was all do to initiative and drive and a willingness to do what needs to be done to get the job.

      @@chuckbodnar5756 Richie seems to be talking about the situation where different contracts are issued to new employees doing the same job. One set gets about £5000 more than the latter set. Is that not discrimination?

      Doing same job same hours.

    Employment is a contractual agreement between 2 parties. The Employer and the Employee. I agree to do this and you agree to pay me so much. That's it. If you bring in a committee to evaluate equil results for similar work you just muddy the waters. If you don't like the pay then quit. You should never be asked to do something against your morals to keep or better your employment. That's awful. There are a wide range of videos, especially Prager U, that explain the wage gap and why its there.

      Exactly. If the Equality and Human Rights Commission are so concerned about equality then surely equal pay should apply to everyone regardless of gender.

    That means no raise and it doesn't matter how long you been working. Bad idea

  • @Toughdan999
    @Toughdan999 3 года назад +1

    There is, of course, no such thing as 'equal work' which renders this whole idea void. No two people have ever, in the history of mankind, done 'equal work'.
