My only real complaint is that Furiosa should have been made several years ago. It would have done much better if it had been released somewhere between 2017-2019.
I never knew this until like a week ago, but apparently George Miller has been writing an entire anthology or movies worth starting with fury Road since 1991.
@@TheDRODOR Nah he is a big name in Hollywood. Fury Road was a flop at release but he still got to make Furiosa and is also planning on starting the next main Mad Max film sometime soon under the name "Mad Max: The Wasteland"
which begs the question as to why they use practical effects if they're just going to put ugly CGI over everything. the trailer makes it look like Suckerpunch or Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow.
It wasn't perfect, but Furiosa is probably the most fun I've had all year.....Definitely one you should check out if you like good action and interesting world building
Furiosa was good but i dont think i could give it more than 8/10 (even thats kinda generous) went into it with just the expectation of having great action, and on that it definitely delivers, however it all kinda just got muddled in the rest of the movie. It felt overly long, and really didnt do much or have anything to say with all the time spent in the world. Fury road had some amazing world building and taking place in the same setting gave them the benefit of having a jumping off point and being able to expand into other parts of the citadel and the other factions but i really dont think it succeeded in that at all. If there was one thing i could add to the movie it would be to have furiosa and the wives interact more, because as its presented it just seems like she meets them one of the wives says like one line of dialogue to her and she escapes as a child and then she escapes. I think the relationship between her and the wives could have used more heart would really up the stakes for furiosa rescuing them in fury road after the fact if she had a real relationship with the women, or maybe have her as an adult witnessing the girls that she escapes with in fury road being taken for wives as young girls by the immortan joe just like she was and kinda have that strongly impact her or solidify her view of joe and resolve to do bide her time. But as it stands she really doesnt seem conflicted to work on joe's side because she hates dementus so much because he killed her mom, but joe and erectus were literally going to keep her prisoner and rape her if she hadnt escaped. I really think that joe trying to keep furiosa as a wife really should not have been added as a plot point because thats the kind of thing you'd think she'd bring up in fury road but its all just kinda glossed over. The ending also bothered me with the final confrontation with dementus, not because it wasnt a fight scene, but because dementus pulled the "youre just as bad as me" card which is cliched to death and i couldn't help but roll my eyes. Again i really liked the movie but the more i think it the more those issues bother me.
I was just watching your old shit the other day. Man, the ridiculous passion, and go getter attitude of our youths. You used to make some funny ass shit. Take care.
Don't think box office struggles because tastes have shifted or anything. Think it has to do with a lot of tangible things such as price increases. A ticket is almost three times what it used to be just a decade ago. And then you have the fact that all movies drop on readily available streaming platforms just weeks (sometimes days) after release. I haven't been to a packed showing since 2015 or 2016. Furiosa didn't sell a single premiere ticket where I'm at. Every single seat in the cinema, in all of the showings, were open for reservation. Not even kidding. Not a single one for the whole day.
I went to watch Furiosa on wednesday, since in my country the ticket price is cheaper that day. I had a blast, and it's easily one of my favourite movies of the year, but it broke my heart seeing so few people in the cinema. The guy who works as manager is a friend of mine and he told me that the release day and weekend was not much better, and along with Planet of the Apes (another one I think it was great), it's heading to become one of the biggest disappointments of the year for movie theatres. They expect the new Despicable me abd especially Deadpool and Wolverine to become huge successes.
I'm usually not a big action movie goer, but when i saw that my local Cineplex shows Furiosa in Dolby Atmos + D-Box motion seats, i was 100% in for the ride.
I was quite shocked with Hemsworth's performance, mainly knowing him from marvel slop and all that. He gave a fun performance that felt 100% in tune with the insane world, a great foil to the Immortans cold calculated cult leader-esque vibe. Seeing references to a lot of the wider universe was great too, even referencing the fury road comics
Although the CGI was ust straight up not good in some sequences, I did come to really appreciate the stylization of things in Furiosa. Sorta reminded me of Poor Things or like an expensive version of 300. Also, some sequences were still visually amazing and creative with great CGI so it was more good than bad imo.
I want to see Furiosa but im not spending money for a worse experience. Theaters are awful. My home has cheap adult beverages, actual food that tastes good, it doesnt cost me any fuel, i can pause whenever i want, i always have the best seat, theres no kid with a big forehead sitting behind me kicking the back of my chair or loud moviegoers around who cant seem to put their phones down.
They should have re-released Fury Road with Furiosa as a double-feature considering one flows perfectly into the other. It could have doubled their profits
What the fuck is wrong with people, dont complain later when you get shitty action or generic movies that are only midly entertaining and with no heart, when you dont support actual incredible amazing movies with heart like furiosa
Other movies being trash won't make Furiosa any better. And no I won't complain, because I won't go see those "generic movies". That's an option, you know. Just not seeing something Hollywood puts out.
"dont complain about something you didnt spend any money on" wow yeah those are the people you should complain about, especially cos they're all so ready and willing to admit they didnt support it financially
Furiosa actually made close to the same amount as Fury Road on its opening weekend. It feels like the Mad Max series is something people are more willing to watch at home than in theaters, which is a shame considering how amazing these films look on the big screen.
I think the fact that Furiosa doesn’t center on Max hurt it. It’s a great movie and Furiosa is a great character, but when people hear about a Mad Max movie they want to see Max, and I don’t think that’s too surprising.
Furiosa needs time for people to digest. Marketing it as an action spectacle like Fury Road was a mistake and you're probably going to be disappointed going in expecting that. But IMO the story was better, as was the sense of scale and world-building. It's a totally different movie and I loved it for what it was.
Genuinely what turned me away from Furiosa was Chris Hemsworth. His recent roles, mainly the MARVEL films, have me associating him with corny comedy/action films.
I will say one thing that stupid godzilla movie did better than Furiosa was ... 3D. George Miller is a master of stereoscopic cinema with Happy Feet Two and Fury Road both delivering amazing stereo versions. Furiosa, Dune 2, and Planet of the Apes are all 2D sequels to stereo 3D films. Very disappointed!
