- Using the clues we're given, I tried to figure out what could've happened to the dead vessel in Greenpath from which the Knight obtains the Mothwing Cloak.

I think Hornet tries to kill the vessels because if a vessel breaks the seals, then dies, it would free the Radiance and unleash the full force of the infection on Hallownest. If a vessel can beat her, it can probably break the seals and kill the Hollow Knight or the Radiance. If it can’t, it’s too much if a risk keeping it around.
That’s very likely. I was meaning to imply that in the video, I just didn’t say it outright
Hornets able to talk and vessels can nod and listen, I gues she wanted a way safer for hallow nest rather than risking them disobeying
My thoughts exactly!
This vessel and the lost kin both have much longer cloaks than any other vessel, and the lost kin can dash while the greenpath vessel has the ability to dash.
The broken vessels cloak is also pretty big. But that might just be because the vessel is larger than average.
The cloaks are actually the vessels' wings, and the length of the wing determines said vessel's age. This means that the Broken vessel actually spent a lot of time in the ancient basin before dying, and Greenpath Vessel was killed relatively young. This also explains why the Pure Vessel's wings are so long, because it has spent the longest time alive.
There was also a lore tablet located somewhere that states that void ignores time, meaning the more void a vessel contains, the less they age. This is why Broken Vessel and Pure Vessel have very long wings. This is true especially with the scenes that show how they aren't truly hollow, giving them longer wings as opposed to Greenpath's vessel and Ghost's wings, showing that they were actually more "hollow" than the other vessels.
It would be cool detail if our wings got longer for consuming mothwing cloak but knight is already short enough to cant cary it anyway
Honestly, looking at the way its nail is turned, it's easy to sugest the Vessel might've commited suicide. Perhaps, the Dreamers have something to do with it, considering they "attack" the Knight on the same spot. Hornet might've destroyed the shade, using her silk, because her dreamnail dialog reads "No shadow will haunt me".
Then, how did it get pinned to the wall?
God why are these bugs so suicidal
proabbly it got infected and and stabbed itself just like hollow knight
I am trying SO HARD to not say anything about Omori (as you can see, I failed)
I think it's reasonable.
The vessel suicide because the voices of the dreamer, or the vessel is too weak, the way the vessel died with his own nail is explaining that the vessel can't even hold his nail to fight hornet and the nail easily taken by hornet.
Both theories is very reasonable tbh...
i actually had a story idea featuring this guy a while ago. i was planning to make a comic about their adventures escaping the Abyss, befriending a moth, and fighting another half-infected moth where they got the mothwing cloak from, and finally meeting their end in Greenpath via combat with their sister.
i never got around to making it but the idea was cool i guess
I think the vessel in Greenpath had a much more dark fate than just Hornet killing it. Considering the area in which the Hornet fight takes place, there are a few moss knights and other enemies in the surrounding areas. The Vessel's cracked shell already indicates that they had suffered damage before their nail was put through them. They were likely really weakened from fighting so many enemies. All Hornet did was end their suffering. Now it is entirely possible that Hornet did that damage herself. However, in a game as depressing as Hollow Knight, that is too easy of an explanation. Hornet delivered the killing blow, but the enemies in Greenpath did the bulk of the work. The vessel was likely in that area to begin with because they thought they would be safe and rest up, which they clearly were not.
@@prezireplayz8229 Indeed, but the whole point of the game is to be depressing.
Poor vessels
Me:wants to delete comment
Also me:Oh crap, someone replied
@@prezireplayz8229 Ha funny
I mean... Hornet isn't a stranger to piercing skulls.
Hornet is killing way too many of her siblings for it just to be about protecting the kingdom and such.
Daddy's girl.
I don't think making it to the top of the abyss first would've guaranteed that be the "pure vessel", as only the vessel with the strongest will would make it that far. In the birthplace memory, the game suggests that part of being Hollow means having no will. This also probably confirms that the knight is not hollow.
@@arcticsnow6524 Yeah of course, but I doubt the Pale King was dumb enough to make it a race.
@Redstone he was dumb enough to not use foresight to allow Soul Master to effectively use soul to counter the infection, so he would probably be dumb enough to make it a race, especially since PK created the vessels with their sole purpose in mind being to destroy the light while Pale King himself was able to outshine the Radiance's light at some degree.
Maybe it was like a battle royale kind of challenge rather than super meat boy thing. Its impossible to go out of abyss without dash or wings unless you try any%LegitAbyss. Probably they had like a limited stock below the abyss and they all fight eachother to consume these items to get out. And our knight either reborn of some unknown plot armor or just started very late in battle near end of it. Pure vessel didnt save us though but a real vessel wouldnt even hesitate to neglect
Funnily, my first ever death in hollow knight was to Hornet. I guess I'm the vessel that gives you the mothwing cloak now.
Your welcome.
I lost my first attempt at a steel soul run to her
@@lifebloodcore2106 funnily enough my only deaths on steel soul are from brooding mawlek mainly because I beat godhome p5 all bindings first. I died several times to it bc I was to obstinate to do it later,, and it was early game.. But I havent fought hornet 2 yet so there is always a chance.
Update: I beat Hornet without losing more than 3 health. Pure nail really is OP
@@lifebloodcore2106 same lmao
If you think about it, where does the mothwing cloak come from? If the charm came from deepnest, maybe this vessel travelled directly up there
Just think about this, infected bugs have the least vessel kill count, nosk is the only infected bug with vessel deaths, but royalty, specifically and only the pale king, have skyrocketing vessel kill counts, actually pale king has the highest kill count in general because of the vessels
I always thought all vessels just had a cloak because all the other vessels can dash.
When you fight Hornet, she laughs sometimes.
So she's a sadist to a degree.
And Hornet definitely Knows that there's no way of waking Herrah up.
So she doesn't intend on preserving her forever, just for a strong vessel.
If she did, she would stop the knight from killing Herrah if you go to her before beating Hornet in kingdom's edge.
The laugh that Hornet gives is in no way a sadistic laugh. It is like a laugh that Goku would give during a fight. In other words, she is enjoying the fight. She doesn't enjoy causing pain, but she does enjoy a good fight.
Yeah, enjoying the fight witch she murders one of her innocent siblings that has no idea what it's purpose is.
You said she was enjoying the fight,
And the fight was one were she murders one of her innocent siblings which has no idea what it's purpose is.
How does one enjoy that kind of fight without being a sadist?
And we all have different tones of voices.
While hollow knight lore is vague, some solid ground can be found.
I am not being close minded. I'm just stating facts.
She laughed In a fight were she tries to murder one of her innocent siblings.
You can deny that.
@@stuffstuff3455 keep it civil, guys. You can debate the lore all you want, that’s what we’re here for, but I don’t want arguing in my comments
@@galaxy-eyesgarchomp9478 I am gently informing you both that I will remove these comments if I see fit to do so. You two are some of my most loyal viewers and have left very insightful comments on nearly all my videos. As I said, I don’t want negativity here. Interpreting hollow knight lore is something that’s supposed to bring people together, not divide them. You both have your own interpretations and can agree to disagree. If you wish to argue, take it elsewhere.
Could it be a continuous push of the pale kings plan...have hornet stick around as a contingency plan for the forth coming vessels in an event the original hollow knight fails at containing the radiance, thereby having a sutiable replacement ready based off of its progression through hollownest
It was Zote. Dark fate indeed.
Something i never understood was that although they're dead we know that the ability of reviving is actuslly canon with the hunter mentioning that we leaves fragments of ourselves, the snail shaman people, the moth people in the form of ghosts, and the creepy dude at the end of the first zone who brings the shadows back for you. What im saying is, do you have to be a certain level of higher being to access this ability? We know the hunter refers to the player as someone of the same kind as he is. He doesnt seem particularly frightened by us either. Considering his knowledge on the shadows is likely he has had it happen to him as well
the broken vessel can also use the mothwing cloak so i think its more of an item they have at birth i guess the vessel lost it while getting out of the abyss
Its possible knight lost it outside of hollownest since knight at some point spent time outside of pale kings reach
@@barsozuguler4300 yes like in hungry knight
@@BreaksBee What exactly happened on abyss before birthplace cutscene I still wonder. I think they fought eachother for cloak and wings to get out of abyss in a battle royale style. Thinking like it was like a super meat boy situation doesnt make sense since just spike hazards and deadly attitude wouldnt stop almost all of vessels from getting out and its nothing in difficulty compared to white palace
@@barsozuguler4300 like no i think it was in their clothes so like they get birthed its like prison and their clothes are giving out cuz broken vessel and hollow knight can dash i'm pretty sure
@@BreaksBee Their cloaks... Does their name indicates that pale king used some moth assistance at some point? Maybe silksong can solve some of specific questions like these but I have doubts about it since it will be alternative universe but not exactly because of knight hornet and quirrel
I personally think it’s more likely that the vessel committed suicide since hornet doesn’t try to take your nail and that the vessel was leaning against something, not hunched over from death in battle.
"What happened to the dead vessel? He died."
*they
@@lifebloodcore2106 I feel like most people do forget that the vessels are genderless.

Poor vessels
Too bad talking wasn't chosen
If you find a stray vessel, show some memes to start the relationship and train it till it gits gud
No no no, _Pure_ Vessels
Wheres the au where everyone gets revived(exp lost kin or greenpath vessel) or saved like cloth (grimmchild) and lives in slight post apocalyptic world where you need protection or to be strong enough
I’m not familiar with that one
Plenty, but I'd suggest making your own.
I have one!
The basic synopsis is; what if the hollow knight didn’t want to seal the radiance and ran away with hornet to deepnest instead?
My theory: So i think the dead vessel is the lost kin, because in the battle whit broken vessel and lost kin he has an attack where we uses mothwing cloak right?
PART 2: the dead vessel is well dead right? thats probably how the vessel became broken and infected
alright theory over
They’re definitely 2 different vessels. They’re different sizes and have different horns. If you go back to the site of the Greenpath vessel’s corpse after defeating the Broken Vessel, the corpse is still there
@@lifebloodcore2106 ok so the broken vessel and the dead vessel have different horns but the looks are kinda simillar
Greenpath vessel was clearly inexperienced with combat if it were to die against Hornet with its own weapon turned against it, so I don't believe it would be able to outshine Broken Vessel in combat and speed. As well, Greenpath Vessel was uninfected due to the fact that it is implied to be more of a hollow knight than most other vessels.
@@izzy5821 all vessels look similar, they are siblings
@@izzy5821 you contradicted yourself in that sentence, how can their horns be so drastically different but for them to be the same character according to your theory?
But why when we die (in normal mode ) our shade lingers in the place we die? Why it doesn't go to the abyss? Why this vessel is different from us? This implies that everyone in Hallownest, except the Knight, is in some kind of Steel soul mode, where for them death is permanent? What happens if a non-vessel creature destroys the shade?
Most likely another inconsistency
Probably to make the game easier as it would be a pain otherwise
I know lots of other people say this, but Hornet happened. Who else would want to harm such a small void zombie?
Zote.
