@@SamS-ef5ez I know I acted fast when I opened the Best Buy app n saw a 2TB 2230 drive on sale for $140 I just immediately purchased. Rn that drive for a 1TB version is $110 and $220 for a 2TB on Best Buy. At the moment the cheapest 1TB drive is the TEAMGROUP MP44S for $78 and for 2TB that will be the Micron 2400 for $140 (same price I picked up my WD black SN770M)
Great video! Great information too about this impressive backplate. The channel hasn’t received its own yet as it’s been stuck in shipment from end of November, but hopefully will before the end of the year. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and insights with this one @CPPC TEK.
Heck yeah thanks. Oh man sorry about shipping. I know a lot of the guys in my discord too had them be delayed too. Kinda a bummer they didn’t have them all out in one batch.
Bro that was my number one question I asked you the other day awesome video bro thanks for letting me know it fits ik gonna buy mine for my birthday lol waiting for next video bro
I had been using the chonky heatsink mod for the 2230 that you showed until I got this backplate - so I could use the rgb module. Reckon its possible to a) fit the rgb module over a 2280? or b) mod the rgb module to fit over the chonk? Keep up the good work btw. I like seeing all the crazy stuff you do with the Ally.
Guessing you didn’t watch the video at all. That’s the title of the video and the question I answer and the thing I clearly show in the video. But in short if you didn’t watch …. Yes
Changed out the ssd on my ally to a 2280 2tb with graphene/aluminium heat spreader Noticeable temperature drop Would love one of these to show off the pcb asus used
bro mine finally came had to send me another one as mine was stuck in custom they also throwing the silicone grips free do to the delay with customs and told me when the other one clears from customs to keep that also
Not enough room but I have made a 92mm fan mod I’m sure you’ve seen so that’s about all I need lol. The laptop fans are too high pitch tho and make my ears ring
im trying to play lies of p on my rog ally. but when i’m on the loading screen, when i’m about to start the game, the screen goes black where it supposed to show the loading screen.
hi, maybe you can give me some advice. I bought this thing and it worked fine at first, but then a strange sound appeared from the right cooler. I took it apart and everything seems fine inside
Not sure but the 990 pro is a super spicy drive temp wise. Would encourage you to run hwinfo and monitor temps when downloading games on steam and see hot the drive temps look
@@cppctek Yeah, i disabled CPU BOOST... but i am not playing full fledged AAA games on mine, some PS3 games, some steam platformers like Strider, Deadcells& Hades.... and some old school retro gaming.
how well does JSaux back plate work with your SSD heatsink mod? I know in your video, you used a notch in the stock back plate to st it, is there any fit issues?
There’s a section in this video where I cover it. It just fits. There are no caveats at all. It just works. Even with the thickest nvme heatsink I own. It fits
@@cppctek awesome. I did the heat sink mod from your video, glad the new back plate works. Unfortunately my unit had a failed SD card. I'll have Asus RMA it later
If anyone else ordered this product can you lmk how shipping is going or if you’ve already received it. Mine shipped on Nov 24 and the last update I see was Dec 1 and still hasn’t moved. Am I the only one or should I start contacting customer support?
Why what? Why a clear backplate ? Because they are in demand and ever since the 90s people in the gaming sphere have always made clear and transparent models and they are coveted widely and loved widely. Ever since to a of aftermarket shells and housings were made clear or transparent also. Maybe you live under a rock 🪨

I've been waiting for RGB backplate review. It looks even better with your heatsync mods. Additional accessories are also great.
Thanks. They are pretty awesome.
first thing to do when get it : Custom back logo with nickname :P :P 400%
The fact that you can even fit a 2280 in this thing is so cool. I’m glad I managed to get the 2TB WD 2230 drive when it went on sale on Black Friday.
Lucky you! Are there any new deals right now on 2230

thank God we have this crazy guy to try out crazy stuff so we can follow :P :P :P
I wish they made a transparent front cover to go with the back cover.
Same. It would be a hard sell though since the difficulty level is worse than a steam deck faceplate swap
@cppctek yeah that's very true. One quick question: How has your long term testing with the 2280 mod tem wise?
Bro that was my number one question I asked you the other day awesome video bro thanks for letting me know it fits ik gonna buy mine for my birthday lol waiting for next video bro

Bro please check the thermal things... is this case going to give us higher temperatures"??? i ordered it too !!!
Watch the whole video. I mention it a few times and explain why and how. Lower thermals bro
Hi, can you still install the transparent back plate mod if you are on a 2280 adapter?

I am concerned about long term dust inside the ally. Doesn’t seem like the plate has any dust mesh.
It does have mesh to help catch some dust
Add a laptop fan inside the RGB bracket

Could be fan noise ?
If you don't use the RGB module to use with a 2280 ssd, does it have plugs to cover the holes for the RGB module?
Not that I could see but there’s no harm in leaving it open.
@@cppctek that makes sense! Need the video of wiring the 92mm fan. Super interested in doing this. Keep up the creative work my friend!!!!
I got a 4tb Samsung 990Pro with heatsink....i hope it clears the RGB....
U would not want to trap all that heat under there
Has the sd card issue been fixed yet?
Yes it has you just have to RMA it to get the new board.
