Girllllll. When you told me you could click the X on the Pokédex and it gives you rewards, I hadn’t done that ever and didn’t know it existed. I sat there for like 5 minutes racking in rewards I didn’t know I had. 😂 THANK YOU

The button to lock the big map to true north is seriously life-changing and makes navigation infinitely easier. Also, I just started an alternate run of the game now that I know what I'm doing and I discovered that you can get nearly 30 different species of Pokémon before you even step foot in the school for the first time! Crazy fun reward for exploring. I also ran into a shiny tarountula on a tree right after the catch-demo, so I was obligated to continue that run. He looked like a Christmas ornament (big red ball) 😆 Thanks for the video and for sharing your fun and positive attitude!
Thanks for the shiny info. Catching shiny’s has always been an issue for me. I’m excited to attempt to fill out the Pokédex…love the presentation of it this time around.

This led me to realize there are ideal Pokemon to counter for TM material hunting: Terrestrial; Skittish: This group includes herd Pokemon like Skiddo, Stantler, and the Ampharos line, valuable for obtaining Mareep Wool for Charge Beam, a great TM for Kilowattrel. I personally use Dusk Lycanroc for its natural agility and good staying power. Terrestrial; Steadfast: Counting icons like Growlithe, Raichu, and the Hariyama line among its ranks, these mons stay put to assess their opponent. Dusk Lycanroc, Kilowattrel, Floatzel, and Meowscarada are my picks, but it depends on the situation. It also includes Shinx and its evolutions, necessary for obtaining Thunder Fang TMs. Terrestrial; Aggressive: These mons are the "hit first, ask later" type. Especially troublesome are the herds of wild Paldean Tauros numbering 5 or more, valuable for obtaining Giga Impact TMs. There's two options: send in a decoy and get away on Koraidon/Miradon, or carefully sneak behind and take them out with a surprise attack. Dusk Lycanroc excels in both roles, but any well trained Pokemon will do. Semiaquatic: The Golduck, Azumarill, and Floatzel lines form the core of this group, often taking to the water to evade attackers. Psyduck Down is from this set, necessary for Psybeam TMs. A well trained Flying or Water type is the best choice, with Floatzel and Kilowattrel being my aces. Aquatic; Skittish: Although I've only seen Dratini and Dragonair exhibit this behavior, Water types excel in the oceans of Paldea, so Floatzel is a solid choice. Aquatic; Aggressive: Pokemon such as Basculin and Veluza fall under this designation. Floatzel and Kilowattrel are the stars here, but mons like Bombirdier can have a good time as well. Avian: Many Flying types fall under this, taking to the air to become invulnerable for a short time, including Murkrow which drop material for Snarl. The best option is to run them down with a Pokemon like Dusk Lycanroc before they start flying. This isn't an exhaustive list, but a general guide. Feel free to add onto this and make corrections.
I got so caught up exploring the different areas I forgot about the stories for a bit 🤣 I prioritized getting myself the fly points set so that when I inevitably got lost I’d be able to get back to where I started Also OBSESSED with the book feature 😍
I have to be honest most of the video was really great but a couple of times as a brand new pokemon player i had zero idea what you meant by certain terms such as over world, dittos etc just as eg. But generally as i said was super helpful and really grateful as always for all your hard work on these videos ❤

The history classes give you a challenge for 4 new Pokémon to catch so if you only choose to do one class, do that one (also doing the exams gives level up candy S and M. not the best but better than nothing)
I have been absolutely loving this game! My only disappointment was the concept of the "shinies". After coming from something so extravagantly obvious, like on Ooblets, I was sad to know the shinies in Pokemon Violet..aren't glittering at all (aside from the icon listed on the Boxes entry if you catch one). I am fairly new to the franchise and it's a bummer to know that I may have encountered a shiny all along and just not have known it, because I'm not familiar with the characters. Other than that, I love the game and it kinda makes me want to play some of the others to see what they are about and how the franchise has changed. This one is definitely different than Arceus (which is my only point of reference for Pokemon). So happy you made this video! Super helpful and always entertaining.
If you think you have a shiny, save the game! If it runs, just restart the game, and your shiny will be there. Make sure auto save is off when shiny hunting. Also, when doing auto battle, your pokemon will never kill a shiny, it will refuse. I hope this helps.
When I beat the story it’s definitely a different type of Pokémon game. I’m re playing it with Pokémon from Pokémon home with my gen 1-3 starters. Hope the DLCs are worth it. Haven’t played them yet.
The pokemon are much more alert now, sometimes too alert. You gotta be stealthy to backshot crit rate catch. Or hit first strike than hit again, so basically hit twice. This is the advantage of stealth.

So useful! I still can't decide whether to get this one... I don't like fighting really but I do like collecting and storylines and they're soooo cute. I used to play Pokemon Go but haven't played any other Pokemon games as yet
The Dittos are linked to the language of the playthrough, not the switch! So you can do a second playthrough on a guest profile to get Dittos in another language, transfer them to a friend, then trade one back to your main profile to use.
I'd been avoid spoilers, because I was out of town during release and I had ordered a physical copy from the Pokemon Center. It sat waiting for me at home until I could start yesterday. I'm not very far, but so far I like the feel of the game. I get why they didn't use all of Arceus' features, because this is a different time period and the relationship with Pokemon is different. I was into just wandering around, and enjoying how many different Pokemon are actually in the starting area. I feel rewarded for just poking around. I feel like picking up items is kinda clunky or I'm not getting something. Like I can't pick them up myself, but my Pokemon doesn't always seem inclined to either. It took me a bit to figure out locking on to a Pokemon. I remembered sneaking from Arceus so now I use that. I was worried when I heard how buggy it was, but I'll wait and see how bad it bothers me. So far it's some random clipping. I do wish they'd taken some extra time to polish the game, it could have been more of a masterpiece.
do you know if you can trade between two switches even if they're under the same profile? I have a save data of scarlet on one switch and a save data of violet on another switch and I was hoping to trade, but it hasn't worked so far, even when I'm doing local communication
It has to be 30 or 60 in that specific mass breakout. You can leave the area, fight other pokemon inbetween, fight pokemon of another mass breakout (which has it's own counter) or even pause the game and come back later. The only thing that matters is that you defeat or catch 30 or 60 pokemon from the exact same mass breakout which always lasts for 24 hours, then it disappears and a new one comes up.
@@lilacdratini you know how when you go to the map there's icons of pokemon that spawn in the area you are at, right? Some of these are mass outbreaks. They can be identified by the two skull-ish icons glowing behind them. To find the mass outbreaks between the other pokemon icons you can zoom the map all the way out and then do one zoom in. The other icons should not appear now and you can search the map for mass outbreaks. There won't be too many so look around for a bit. When you find one and go to that area there should be a text appearing on screen that says something about how there is a mass outbreak of pokemon x.

Ok i know this is a late commnet but i am hoping someone on here that knows pokemon can help a newbie out 😊 I believe part of the point of the game is to complete the Pokédex. Now when playing i have noticed that some entries in the Pokédex are slightly faded out. I assume these are Pokémon that i have battled, won but not caught in a ball. Whereas the full colour versions in the Pokédex are Pokémon that I have caught. The question i have is do these faded put Pokémon entries in the Pokédex count towards completion of the Pokédex or is it considered ‘proper’ to have ‘caught’ all Pokémon? Also as a newbie who has no ideas what the Pokémon look like normally how am i meant to identify ‘shinys’ ? And if I battle and catch/beat a shiny does that show in the Pokédex? Thank you 🙏🏻 😊Amanda
It's also a little confusing for me because I play PoGo and have gotten quite familiar with type effectiveness on there, but it seems they've made some changes on Scarlet/Violet so that definitely thew me off a couple times.
I assumed I wasn’t far enough into the game to get eggs but nope I just haven’t been going to class to learn how too haha I can’t see the evolution guide. Am I missing it?
You have a picnic and two compatible Pokémon in your party - there’s a little basket you can check for eggs every couple minutes - for the easiest breeding use the Pokémon you want and a ditto (it will always have eggs of the other Pokémon never a ditto and ditto can breed with any Pokémon - but reminder no legendaries or paradox forms can breed at all) - you can also boost the rate at which eggs spawn by making a sandwich at the table, peanut butter + butter + banana 🎉
@@Chozo_hybrid sorry to hear that. I'm sure that's not fun. I've not had any problems. I've been having a blast with the game. Hopefully they will fix the problem that you are having trouble with.
I recently got Shining Pearl and was STRUGGLING. I didn`t like it at all so was kinda skeptical towards Violet...damn! I played only for 2hrs and love it already, so many improvements, so many Pokemon to catch!
@@hirundo_rustica Oh. That's interesting to know. I did see some stats when you look at the recipes but didn't pay much mind. I just wanted to make them, lol. Thanks for this info.
So i'm a bit confused with what language my ditto is. You said our ditto's language is determined by our switch's language, so... My switch's region is from Japan but I use English for the language of the console.... So what's my ditto lol Edit: I'm guessing mine is English bcs I've been rejected by other English Ditto owners on Link trade.
I just really wish it could be the same as Arceus in terms of catching Pokémon’s. I hate having to enter battle to catch a Pokémon. Honestly I liked Arceus more
If you see , or even think you see a shiny , SAVE the game! Make sure auto save is off. If it's not shiny, No big deal. If it IS a shiny. The shiny pokemon will stay in the game. This will give you the time you need to make sure you get that shiny.
This is a very nice tips video but my experience with the game was so rotten I had to return it for refund. I’m visually impaired and the visual glitches we’re screwing with me so badly. I the I had most frequently was my characters head would disappear. I feel a funny meme on the horizon; Pokemon and The Headless Trainer. XD I might consider rebuying it if the do some very heavy patching but like they’re so quiet about if or when they might do it.
Your pokemon content has been so wholesome and wonderful!!! You offer such a wonderful community especially as a non binary LGBTQ person! Thanks for the tips!
Can you trade me the other write down you got from Ariel zero, I will trade you my rise on from Pokémon violet and you trade me your right down from Pokémon scarlet please
Wrong I caught a Pokémon that was over the the lvl of a badges said and put it it first in party and not TOO long after that it was listening to me high friendship seems to negate badges lvl of listening to you. I beat all wild Pokémon in my path and right next to it and trainers and I got over lvled. Never cared about shines it is a cheap way to “extend longevity” of the game when really a waste of time you could use to be doing something else more productive.
@@PixieyDust was not refering to everyone but as to me is a waste of my time when I could be playing something else with friends or other game I have been wanting to play

I'm a newly ordained Champion, and I realized many wild Pokemon can be categorized by behavior and habitat. This led me to realize there are ideal Pokemon to counter for TM material hunting:
Terrestrial; Skittish:
This group includes herd Pokemon like Skiddo, Stantler, and the Ampharos line, valuable for obtaining Mareep Wool for Charge Beam, a great TM for Kilowattrel. I personally use Dusk Lycanroc for its natural agility and good staying power.
Terrestrial; Steadfast:
Counting icons like Growlithe, Raichu, and the Hariyama line among its ranks, these mons stay put to assess their opponent. Dusk Lycanroc, Kilowattrel, Floatzel, and Meowscarada are my picks, but it depends on the situation. It also includes Shinx and its evolutions, necessary for obtaining Thunder Fang TMs.
Terrestrial; Aggressive:
These mons are the "hit first, ask later" type.
Semiaquatic:
The Golduck, Azumarill, and Floatzel lines form the core of this group, often taking to the water to evade attackers. Psyduck Down is from this set, necessary for Psybeam TMs. A well trained Flying or Water type is the best choice, with Floatzel and Kilowattrel being my aces.
Aquatic; Skittish:
Although I've only seen Dratini and Dragonair exhibit this behavior, Water types excel in the oceans of Paldea, so Floatzel is a solid choice.
Aquatic; Aggressive:
Pokemon such as Basculin and Veluza fall under this designation. Floatzel and Kilowattrel are the stars here, but mons like Bombirdier can have a good time as well.
Avian:
Many Flying types fall under this, taking to the air to become invulnerable for a short time, including Murkrow which drop material for Snarl. The best option is to run them down with a Pokemon like Dusk Lycanroc before they start flying.

Great VID
It's also a little confusing for me because I play PoGo and have gotten quite familiar with type effectiveness on there, but it seems they've made some changes on Scarlet/Violet so that definitely thew me off a couple times.
Great video
I’ve played Pokémon for well over a decade I’ve never found a shiny in any games. My teenager has already found 3 in this game😅
Perfect timing for this video to drop 🥰
Hope you enjoyed it!
@@Autumn-es7nx thanks!
How did I have no idea about the Pokédex X button rewards?!! I just got so much loot having never done this 😂
Mine doesn’t fight when I send them out to run around they just only follow me :(
1. That it's an unoptimized pos that should've been delayed.
I like your videos, no hate towards you!
each to their own
personally I've been having a blast with the game so far, but still crossing my fingers that an optimisation patch is on the way
@@Eeowna the trouble I have had, is the frame rate issues have made me feel queezy! I've had to put it down.
I still haven't figured out the sandwich option, so I'm just getting stuff and not knowing what to do with them.
You can make pre made recipes as long as you have the ingredients
@@hirundo_rustica Oh. That's interesting to know. I did see some stats when you look at the recipes but didn't pay much mind. I just wanted to make them, lol. Thanks for this info.
When I've been playing with my sister and we did a the picnic, we would get eggs even if we didn't have a ditto in the party
You don’t have to use a ditto, just matching egg groups, ditto is every egg group so it makes it easy
Gone to few classes history one was fun 🤩 the exam’s at the end each class patch coming in December…. Still no new shiny what am I doing wrong 😑
So i'm a bit confused with what language my ditto is. You said our ditto's language is determined by our switch's language, so...
My switch's region is from Japan but I use English for the language of the console.... So what's my ditto lol
Edit: I'm guessing mine is English bcs I've been rejected by other English Ditto owners on Link trade.
Like honestly the shinies are jus okish to me.
But i jus don’t mind them but , they are awesome looking and i do like that.
wait wait your telling me i can sell those treasures?? i was keeping them cuz i thought they were important cuz im still new :/
I just really wish it could be the same as Arceus in terms of catching Pokémon’s. I hate having to enter battle to catch a Pokémon. Honestly I liked Arceus more
Wish I knew it was buggy and glitchy before getting it but reviewers only remembered to tell us AFTER the game cane out…
If you see , or even think you see a shiny , SAVE the game! Make sure auto save is off. If it's not shiny, No big deal.
If it IS a shiny. The shiny pokemon will stay in the game. This will give you the time you need to make sure you get that shiny.
did anyone else see think the Nymble at 6:12 was shiny?
I’ll be getting pokemon for my birthday but lucky for me my mom always gives me my gift early
This is my first pokemon game besides pokemon go and im obsessed!
Can you trade me the other write down you got from Ariel zero, I will trade you my rise on from Pokémon violet and you trade me your right down from Pokémon scarlet please
I havent played since Ruby.
I thought I'd been out of Pokémon for a while, but you've forgotten the type matchups?
Hows it that her game looks so smooth lol
That’s just how it runs for me
I haven't reached that far in the Titans story but it did have me tearing up 😭
It's so good!
There is also .75 times effective and 2 times and even 3 times as effective
Only Polish people understand the lenght of the video
Do your parents play pokemon too? 😩😖😲
getting mine in 1 h
hassel is creepy though
Wrong I caught a Pokémon that was over the the lvl of a badges said and put it it first in party and not TOO long after that it was listening to me high friendship seems to negate badges lvl of listening to you. I beat all wild Pokémon in my path and right next to it and trainers and I got over lvled. Never cared about shines it is a cheap way to “extend longevity” of the game when really a waste of time you could use to be doing something else more productive.
I think Iona is being super productive! I would not be playing without her videos and streams. They are awesome!
@@PixieyDust was not refering to everyone but as to me is a waste of my time when I could be playing something else with friends or other game I have been wanting to play
Pokemon violet/scarlett sucks ;(
I love it. I'm sorry you don't. Is it the graphics that bother you or the game play mechanics?
