I bought 6309 brand new in 1980 and it is still my favorite dive watch
So good looking and well made!

I have 3 pieces, one with domed sapphire glass and aftermarket dial plus hand's which looks comical but with perfect case and movement (1984) , one with small text dial but totally green hands and indexes (1984) and one almost mint from 1977 , Japanese version and on original strap which is my treasure. I love this model and videos like this are like magnets for me!

I have that same dial on my 6309 which was originally owned by my Dad in the 80's, i think he last used it in the early 90's and i just recently had it serviced and im now using it.

I'm sure it will give you great service and become a treasured watch, for their size and weight these turtles are surprisingly comfortable to wear. If not try experimenting with another style of strap or bracelet.

From what I’ve seen the third dial code 6309-704 MT with the small suwa symbol is made in Singapore and was for non America market watches. I hope this helps:)

There's something of a sick obsession with watch modders and domed crystals. I don't mind it much until you find a vintage watch in otherwise stock original condition and then someone pops a sapphire with AR coating on it to totally kill the consistency, all I can ask is whyyyyy?

I love the ebay finds ... when folks dig in and see what they got. Looking forward to seeing the rundown when it unfolds.

Love the video Spencer. Would love to see more of the eBay gem videos, especially if you purchase some 6139-60XX's. Cheers!

I have my father in-laws 6309-7040 which is all original and has never been serviced as far as I know. It has the same 6309-704 MT with the Suwa identical to yours.
Ser no.4D0xxx (Dec. 1984?) Dial code for the Singapore market read as 6309-704 M T (with a very small Suwa symbol at the left). It is beat to hell and needs serviced, cleaned and resealed but most shops are not interested in doing the work. Such is life.

They're great watches, and not any more complicated to work on than any other watch.

Just received a "short text" dialled 6309 today in the mail from ebay, all looks original (and pretty well used) but I'd also love to know more about these dials.

Fantastic amplitude. Someone must have thrown in a Type C balance. Lol

My Pop's bought a 6309 7040 in the early 80's. It's mine now. There are some scratches and dings, but I refuse to change those parts for looks. It's all original parts and that how I want to keep it. It runs about 1:00 to 1:30 fast per day. Can you recommend what type of place I should trust to re-synchronise it?
Thanks for the video my Timely Brother ⌚

It needs service more than timing / adjustment. Until the movement is serviced and the amplitude is good & correct where it should be, adjusting for accuracy won't really work. But I'm glad you're still holding onto your dad's watch!

Great looking setup. Are you sure on the lift angle for that movement? That can throw the readings off quite a bit.

Is it possible to get replacement bezel inserts that have the original slant? My one has an aftermarket insert but its a flatter one than original 6309 7040

Hi Spencer! I have exactly this variant from June ‘83. It seems it’s the late version produced for South East Asia. Mine comes from Philippines. Definitely not a service dial judging by the heavy moist-induced patina and lack of service mark in my watch.

By the way. Do you have a mechanical tunna for sale? It says custom. If its yours, the way you fix and treat your watches im interested. If not I'll rather not risk it.

I think you are being petty and pretentious. It’s a Seiko diver, and as far as I can see it’s a good looking timepiece.
