Pov: Preparation along with PhD is not possible unless you have chill lab environment as well as chill guide.
And personally too one has to study lot of papers to carry out experiments and other things as well if one is aiming to get research published in reputed journals. I agree with ur point of view.
And if one doesn't learn skills in phd and no good publication... one is doomed. So yeah, I agree with you.

If you want to join job , then why did u join iisc banglore, you must do postdoc for good research
