  • Hi! The legendary Generation Whistles recently had a re-brand and the joint director, Rob Brown, was kind enough to send me three of the new whistles for me to try out. Including the new cool-looking Aurora model (in teal). At the same time, they're slowly improving the mouthpieces too.
    You'll visually recognize the new whistles, not only because of the new design and packages, but also because the new stickers on the whistle say "Made in England". Also, at the end of the video I'm comparing them to some old Generations that I have (a D brass one, a D nickel one and a Bb nickel one). They sound great. What do you think?
    I thought Generation Whistles was a big factory but I was surprised to learn it's a family company in a small English town. You can check out more info and buy these whistles on Generation's official website, here: generationmusi...
    Note: this is not a paid promotion or anything, I was super happy to receive these whistles and show them to you guys.

    I'm liking the direct sound the aurora d has... I've never been a huge fan of the gen high c whistle tbh... maybe I've just have the worst luck and buying once that end up not being tuned correctly... having that said... I've been playing a gen Bb for YEARS and i still love it to this day. Like most folks i started of playing a gen d whistle as a kid and couldn't stop playing it until the entire neighborhood got sick of me playing hahaha It's great to see/hear them actually improving on their designs again :-) Generation whistle are simply something you feel has always been around hehe :-) An almost nostalgic feeling in a way ...I would love to try out their newer versions for sure... thanks for sharing :-)

    Well, I literally ordered a couple of Generation Bb whistles about an hour ago. I don't quite trust Generation overall, but I do think we can trust them to make decent Bb whistles. However, it seems like the Aurora whistles sound pretty decent. It's definitely more mellow and controlled(?) than the nickel or brass Generation D whistles I see online. Would be nice if they can get some quality control with the Aurora line.

    I'm a big fan of Generation whistles. I was lucky enough to find an old D on ebay that probably dates back to the 70's It's tarnished and dented and is a joy to play. I must get hold of one of the new Aurora D whistles, in your hands it sounds stunning.

    Tengo uno de esos nuevos Generation y de hecho es mi primer silbato.. la verdad que no estaba seguro porque muchos dicen que los Generation suenan horrible, pero el mio parece sonar bastante bien.. aunque tuve muchos problemas con las octavas.. pero supongo que es falta de practica.

    hoy recibi un whistle Gen. modelo folk boquilla verde,estaria bien que las boquillas no estuvieran pegadas, trabajo me costo despegarlo, solo rellene el hueco con cera debajo del canal de aire para eliminar esas turbulencias y suena perfecto en las dos octavas

      Hi! Buy a whistle (in D because a lot of Irish tunes are in that key) then check out tutorials on RUclips. That's what many people and I do. I can recommend you the channel "whistle tutor", he gives good advices on how to start, how to practice on your own, etc... :) Good luck! From Brittany.

    • @TinWhistler
      @TinWhistler  Год назад +1

      Not that I've noticed, no. But, anyway, put the mouthtip under hot water (not boiling, just tap water) for a while to remove the glue so that the whistle becomes tunable. Who knows if doing that can also remove the taste that you mention...
