Yesterday I woke up at 2:00am for work I got in my car at 3:15am and as I pulled out of my driveway in my 2010 Corolla XRS 5 Speed Manual Transmission I got stuck in the snow I ended up losing an hour of work I had to be pulled from the side street till I got to the main road I may be thinking about getting a Subaru WRX next winter Awd is the best for winter Fwd and Rwd can't handle the snow without getting stuck Fwd is the worse when you're leaving a parking spot after the night you literally get stuck if the snow is covering half of your tires and your bumper
When we get that much snow I always clean off the hood, windshield, headlights and taillights. Then away I go. We LOVE our (my wife’s commuter) Outback and our road car. It has taken us places that even 4X4 pickups struggled to get through. Furthermore the Outback is the safest car on the planet.
Ia Katamadze -- tire type makes a difference, too. I have a Subaru, with Xmode. It is great! Still, tire type makes a bug difference in handling. Are they studded tires or winter tires? All-weather tires? had a Chevy Cavalier for a long time, which got me through a lot of snow storms. I learned the value of good tires.
What makes you think that? There's a reason why Subaru wins rally races. 4 cylinders pancake motors with bolt on performance parts make them a engine to recon with.
@@amachalaamachalpu9366 rav 4 has an on demand AWD system thats way way worse than Subaru's AWD. Old pathfinders had real 4x4 but were too heavy for the snow. New pathfinders have also some kind of an on-demand AWD but still not quite good.
@@moonsapling When it comes to snow, the heavier, the better, unless you're talking about really deep snow, 4' deep+, and then there are no stock vehicles with large enough tires to stay on top. I've driven rwd American cars through snow deeper than this, but they weighed at least a 1,000# more than that Subie.

Excellent driving, good AWD, quality tires, and very fluffy snow make this possible. can’t do this once snow starts to melt and or thaws and freezes.
Can’t do this if you high centre the car either. That’s where lifted trucks start having an advantage over a lighter and more nimble Subaru.
