Scarlet Ravenswood, The one thing you were accurate about, was that Christianity & Christian holidays & customs are a mixture of Paganism & the Bible. That is why I & many others, like myself, do not consider ourselves part of Christianity, which evolved from the 2nd-4th century Pagan Greek & Roman apostasy, which hijacked the true first century religion of Yahshua the true Messiah & His apostles. But I'm sure you, apparently being a neo-Pagan witch & expert on ancient Pagan culture & history, already know all that. However, there are several things you were wrong about in this video. First of all, the Pilgrims, who observed that festival with their Native American friends, in 1621, were Puritans, were not commiting atrocities against them & observed that festival for a week in early October, as the writings of Governor William Bradford, who helped them organize the festival, reveal. Some historians believe, since they observed it during the same week as the Biblical Festival of Tabernacles (Succoth) in 1621, that those early Puritans, who rejected & outllawed observing Catholicism's half Pagan festivals, of Christmas & Easter, in their colonies, were trying to observe that Biblical festival. Also, what you said about Native Americans worshipping Pagan deities & spirits, like ancient Pagans, was not true of all tribes. I am about half Native American, so I can speak with some authority & credibility, just as you can, as a neo-Pagan witch. I am part Cherokee (Tsalagi) & part Osage Sioux (Lakota). My Cherokee ancestors believed in ONE Great Spirit & Creator & even knew of His Hebrew name, "Yahweh", as did some other tribes. They even found Hebrew writings & scrolls with the Ten Commandments, buried with some of the Cherokee, in the 1700s, proving that dispersed Israelites sailed across the Atlantic, long before Columbus, as did the Phoenecians, vikings & others, then mixed with & influenced some of the eastern Native American tribes. That is why some of the eastern tribes were more civilized & able to assimilate into European culture more easily. Some, including myself, believe "Yah" & "HaYah", which are Hebrew references to the name "Yahweh", in the Scriptures, that you can clearly hear in the ritual chants of several Native American tribes, is definite proof that the ancient Israelites had come here & taught them about the one true Creator, Yahweh. So not all Native American tribes were completely Pagan, without knowledge of the true Creator. You said you enjoy the holidays & their connection to ancient Pagan festivals, deities & spirits. But I wonder who you will call upon for help, when those deities & spirits, who are actually Satan & his 50 million rebel angels, are cast down & confined to this earth & wreak havoc, during the soon coming "great tribulation". Will you call upon them, or repent & call upon Yahweh. Joel 2:32 & Acts 2:21 says, "And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call upon the name of Yahweh shall be saved". I hope you will repent & call upon Yahweh!

READ THE COMMENTS I MADE OF HER VIDEO, IN WHICH I CONFIRMED THAT SHE IS CORRECT, BUT THAT THERE ARE MESSIANIC BELIEVERS WHO DO NOT ACCEPT & OBSERVE THESE PAGAN HOLIDAYS & PRACTICES, LIKE MOST OF THE CHRISTIANS STILL DO, THAT IN 1621, THE PILGRIMS OF PLYMOUTH WERE ACTUALLY OBSERVING THE HARVEST FESTIVAL, AN ENTIRE WEEK, IN EARLY OCTOBER, DURING THE BIBLICAL FESTIVAL OF INGATHERING, CALLED SUCCOTH (TABERNACLES) & THAT SOME TRIBES OF NATIVE AMERICANS, INCLUDING ONE OF TWO TRIBES I DESCENDED FROM, BELIEVED IN JUST ONE GREAT SPIRIT & CREATOR. SHE APPARENTLY LOVES CELEBRATING THE HOLIDAYS, WITH ALL OF THEIR ANCIENT PAGAN PRACTICES & TRADITIONS, JUST LIKE MOST CHRISTIANS DO.

Look at the astrology of Thanksgiving. It always falls in November after the Sun moves into Sagittarius. It also always falls on a Thursday, which is the Day of Jupiter. Jupiter rules Sagittarius.
Jupiter relates to travel, abundance, expansion, gratitude, and beliefs. What do we do on Thanksgiving? We travel to visit family, celebrate our abundance by expanding our bellies, express gratitude for it all, and argue about our beliefs! 😊

Not Thanksgiving too!! First Christmas, the Easter, I know about Valentine's day.😳😳😬😬. Well, this year that's out too. The established churches should know this. They should be teaching this also😠😠😠. If we're going to do something, we can do it without the pagan associations. Thanksgiving is a day of gluttony to tell the truth. We should be having a seven year Jubilee, Passover, and other Holy Days specified in the bible. I need to write this stuff down😤😤. We know better and must do better.

Thanksgiving isn't just a harvest celebration, it is rooted directly in the genocide of Native Americans, otherwise you'd be celebrating Mabon or any other harvest celebration. Only Americans celebrate Thanksgiving.
People in England *do* celebrate the Harvest, albeit mildly, but we don't celebrate Thanksgiving.
Just because it took elements from various other harvest festivals doesn't mean you can pretend it has nothing to do with the Native American genocide. Native American spiritualities had harvest festivals, but they don't celebrate Thanksgiving. Hmm... wonder why.

Our Halloween decorations are very 'fall' oriented, we just take in the jack-o-lantern and the witch crashed into the oak tree in the garden, but leave the other pumpkins, corn and cornstalks up until after thanksgiving showing the fall celebration. I usually do duck for the big day as there is just me and my wife but my best side dishes are corn bread and a pecan pie and now I'm going to be more aware of their tie to pagan harvests.

Very interesting and well-done video, once again! As I have hitherto understood it (although I may be mistaken), the reason for the two harvest holidays is that Lughnasadh on 1 August marked the beginning of the harvest season, while Samhain on 31 October marked the end. This can be partly seen in the old German nomenclature for the month of August, which is called Ernting or Erntemond (harvest moon) following Heuert/Heumond (hay moon) which denoted July. The German word for November, however, is simply Gilbhart (referring, I assume, to the leaves turning golden), while in (Scots) Gaelic it is called an t-Samhain, presumably marking summer's end.

Discernment people. Thanksgiving is a barely pagan concept. The most pagan in it is the cornucopia

Hi! Scarlet. Very nice video, enjoyable, relaxing, educational & fun. So that's where the conucopia comes from? hmmm ... that horn appears in many culters in various ways. A blending of Christian and Pagan cultures (again) as Pagan harvesting, feasting & celebrations honoring the Gods & Goddesses meets the Christian Day of Thanks Giving established by the Church. As for my favorite Thanks Giving food. When I was a little boy in 6th. grade my middle school English Teacher made Cranberry Relish. I took the recipe home and asked my Parents to make it. & became a family tradition for years to come. It can be tangy, sweet, or smooth depending on the desired amount of ingredients. Me: It makes me feel like a kid again, as I quietly reflect on happy childhood memories ... Thank You Scarlet .' )

It wasn’t really established by the church but by a pagan and then a Christian president who could not, in good conscience, establish the day without dedicating it to God.

Weren’t native Americans mostly Hunter/gatherer? What do you mean “they looked forward to the harvest”? I know there were a few tribes that did a small amount of farming but it was mostly Europeans that brought farming into America.

Also, the shape of the cornucopia was a symbol of fertility (=bounty) in that it contains representation of both the Goddess and the God. (the cup and the pointy thing!). It could also view as androgynous because of this. Oh, and Cranberry relish! HTD!

I honestly had no idea about any of this! I always thought of Thanksgiving as an eh holiday because like you said, it’s like a rose colored glasses version of the actual treatment of Native Americans. But now, I actually look forward to celebrating ❤️

Very educational thank you I would like to add that you mentioned Sports during the Holiday, one of the other origins besides the Greeks were the Native Americans and what is now called Lacrosse. It was the most popular game by them before the settlers came to America and was also played during or after special celebrations like after the Autumn Harvest it was not just a game but highly Religious for them with pregame rituals.

Okay one half of this does not make sense
What do you say about people in the Bible who gathered to have meals and give thanks
Just because they did sports back then does not mean we're doing it now specifically to celebrate paganism
American traditions could be celebrating God's desire for us to give thanks for what he has given us

Great video! We are pagan and it is good to know that we can celebrate "Harvest Home" and feel good about it. Our roots are very important and not being of Jewish or of middle eastern descent we have no interest in the Jewish-Christian bible. Our origins are Nordic pagan and we celebrate everything as such in a pagan manner. I will enjoy our turkey and all of the sides this November (whatever day we choose to celebrate). As for the modern sports, I believe that they are communist in nature and used to dilute the average Joe's mind to the point he has no idea of what is going on around him. After Harvest Home we sit around, drink and talk with friends and family.

The Cerealia were a spring festival, celebrated in April. Thanksgiving however is a harvest festival of autumn. It is rather equivalent to the Roman festival of the Epulum Iovis, which was celebrated during the Ides of September, but included an epulum (dining with a god) in honor of Iuppiter.
BTW it was in the first place the Indians that committed atrocities against the European settlers, not te other way around. As pagans we should be very sensitive, when it comes to modern attempts to rewrite history.

This is interesting, but the way I see it, Thanksgiving is not a "pagan" holiday, or necessarily a Christian holiday. It is an AMERICAN holiday. That is all. And that is enough for me because America is a REAL nation, and as Americans, we have OUR OWN borders, language, and culture - as much as modernists want to deny that. Western Civilization has a culture that goes back thousands of years. And every day of the year probably had some pagan holiday or festival that fell on it. If we were to worry about that, then Christians would not be able to celebrate any kind of holiday - unless you stuck to the holidays and feast days that are in the Old Testament. And even that would be hard because of lot of those holidays and feast days were tied to the Temple, and we don't have the Temple today, and America is not a theocracy.

Research the origins of Christianity they go back to the days of Constantine the father of Christianity who was a pagan and a sun worshiper who declared Sunday the day to worship their sun God ☀️ the proof is in the name! Christianity has nothing to do with the Bible, pagan Christianity follows the pagan traditions of man, not the commandments of God! To follow the commandments of God you'll have to leave pagan Christianity! The truth be told!

*I'm a Jehovah's Witness* and I appreciate your help with showing the truth behind holidays. As a Jehovah's Witness, I only believe in the True God in the Bible, Jehovah, who sent his only begotten Son Christ to give us a second opportunity to obtain everlasting life on Earth, as God's original plan for Adam and Eve. They would've been alive today on earth if not for their disobedient selfish way of thinking.

Jesus is the messiah and he died for your sins. You have to repent and turn to him. No one comes to the father but through Yashua his hebrew name. That you probably dont know about.
