@@paradise2pink You gotta have hope for the future in order to get that vibe - and y'all elected republicans. Ain't no hopeful fun futurism any time soon.
No it wasn't. You just see it through a declinist cognitive bias and rosy retrospection. Which is normal and very well documented. Your parents would say it was better when they were young, and their parents before and their parents before, ect, etc... back to prehistoric time. But no, what you say is true for high class white rich straight men immune to diseases and exempted from military service. But for anyone else... the world is getting better.
Same here! When I first heard this in 2001, before its Jan. ’02 release as a single, I just knew it was going to be a monster hit. It’s in the vein of “Jumpin’ Jumpin’” by Destiny’s Child theme-wise, and I expected it to be about as big a hit. I was disappointed that it missed the main Billboard R&B chart and only reached No. 86 pop (Hot 100). Maybe a contemporary artist can cover this great song and give it new life. I’m really glad Toya did have a hit with “I Do!!” though, hitting No. 16 pop, 25 R&B and 3 Dance in the U.S. and going top 10 in other countries. She was also featured along with Juelz Santana on Cam’ron’s “Hey Ma,” No. 3 pop, 7 R&B and 4 rap.
I was typing in all kinds of damn lyrics and nothing was coming up. I was like, WTF!! Luckily I was able to remember "TOYA". I felt like I had made this song up in my head or something.
This is my jam! I love how Toya’s vocals are layered with her delivering a strong lead and singing the harmonies in the background. She also gets busy on the high notes she hits toward the end while ad libbing. Such an underrated and under-appreciated talent Toya is! She eventually married Tamaurice Martin, wide receivers coach for the Ravens, and had kids. I hope they’re all very happy, it would just be awesome for Toya to get back into music. We didn’t get enough of what she had to offer back in the day.
wow I've been looking for this song for fucking years. I never got the name, its not like now u can read the radio. I heard it on a radio station on Friday nights when I was like 13. I'm 26 now made me go down memory lane.
I was looking for this song forever, also! I worked at a record store when this song was out, and it was on a promotional playlist CD we had to play in the store, that had new and upcoming releases on it for the customers. I completely forgot about it until a few years ago, and I could not remember the singer's name. And of course, we didnt have RUclips, so we couldn't look up "2002 Music hits" like I did to help me find this song! Boy, we had it rough back in 2002, didn't we? No social media, no smartphones, no iPads!! We were roughing it! Lol!
Same here. I never knew the name nor the lyrics. I barely remembered, "hey, we're gonna have some fun". A google search lead me to this. I actually heard it on Rick Dees top 40 countdown but never got the name of the artiste or song.
This song makes me happy! I remember it was such a bop when I was a kid/teen. I wish more music was this fun and danceable these days. Also Toya is gorgeous 😍
Finally found this artist after years hearing the melody in my head. Her album is still legit! Moving On still my all time song. But this video and song still got me in a chokehold.
Omg heard this at the shops and shazamed it! My favourite repeat song when I was 11? I'm 30 and still love it 😂 wouldn't have remembered the name or artist but I'm so happy I heard it again. Now saved to spotify..
A lot of behind the scenes shadiness went down and the executives at the label didn't want to invest any more money into her to promote the album or any other singles. Even though "I Do" was a big hit the album itself sold far less than they projected and she was dropped from the label.
I'm 32 and Remeber going out to have fun every Friday night with gfs and this be playing , all these 90's and 20's music brings so much memories and ole times the music nowadays isn't anything like the 90's to early 20's
Music has sucked so bad for so long. I am so glad i was born in the 70s, grew up in the 80s, was a teenager in the late 80s and early 90s, was in my mid 20s in the mid 90s (I turned 30 in 2003). Music was so amazing during those decades! So glad I am not a teenager/young adult now. I would have the worst music growing up!
OMG ..ive been looking for this song for at least 8 years..Thankyou Instagram..found it there by chance..it was playing everytime on the radio back in 2004...always wondering who whas singing...used to really love it
I AM CRYING!!!! WHAT happened to good music???? This one, unpretty by TLC and others of that era were just feel good, colorful music videos. Man music sucks so much now
I luved her outfit at 1:20. That's why I came to this video in the first place. Now I luv this song. & it's such a coincendence how I was watching a LaToya Jackson video & found out this Toya was named after that LaToya. I thought that LaToya made singed this song at first.
It’’s been like over 15 years since i heard this song and its just popped up in my mind rightnow so here i am listening to it in 2021😌😌😌 My childhood was Awesome
I used to play this CD in my 2002 convertible Trans Am! Probably had 20 minutes left on my phone that I just got😂 Kids don't have fun like that these days! Nostalgia is heavy on this one!
This song was a very touching and instrumental peace I was able to find when going through a difficult chapter in my life. Thanks so much Brandy! I luv you ans, u go :) girl!
"She was actually pretty good and soooooooooooooo remember his song and the cd it was on. I think I finally tossed it out around '07, but that was 6yrs of jammin'!"
My Friday night jam when i'm dressing to go out...they don't make them like this anymore..good clean song to party with your girls to on girls night out...miss u toya..
am I the only one that misses the glossy colorful futuristic videos from the late 90s and early 00s? I miss that era.
me! I lowkey hope that it makes a comeback in today's videos...

I can't believe this was released in 2001. I feel like this could almost still fit on the radio in 2018. The sound is definitely ahead of its time.
Definitely could
Im still listening to this song in 2020. I miss this Era so much. Seems like the 🌎 was a much happier place then.
That's because its pre 911 . It was a happier time and the song sounds like it .

this was ahead of its time
Sandra V i was saying the same thing... Most pop songs sound like this today.
Yeah it sounds more like a mid to late 2000s song
AlwaysRae I said the same thing
I literally was just gonna post the same thing. (Even tho this post is 7 years old). This would have fit right into the pop scene in 2008- 2009.
Thank you!!!
