I've been waiting for someone to do a review on the comparison. Thank you! We have 35 acres in New Hampshire, and we're trying to make a decision on the -4 or the -5.
Ya it’s been hard for me too. Once one comes to our dealer I will do a hands on but there really isn’t a whole lot of difference and if price was dramatic I honestly would just buy a -4. But if your a bigger person and you plan on getting in and out of the machine a lot the -5 is going to be your machine.
@@greglandgraf9126ya the 057 is nice but here at higher altitudes we have trouble running them cause they’re not turbo’ed machines. We have always been baffled as to why cause if they were they would rock up here.
Great video. i rarely watch til the end, but you used the time perfectly and know your stuff. Look forward to seeing more from you. Would love to see more comments from others too as they contemplate the -5 as thats where I am at right now. I have asked my dealer for pricing, but haven't heard back yet. Happy new year all.
Same to you. As soon as our dealer gets one in I will be doing a hands on review vs my 040 and since I am not a dealer I hope to give an honest opinion and not just talking points.
Very good review. I just ordered one and should have it by the end of January with the 6 way blade. I changed my mind to this one, so it's good to hear a good review on it. Thanks
Thanks man. It’s exiting when you see it coming off the trailer. Don’t forget to follow their maintenance schedule. The finale drives will need to be drained 50 hrs in and not a lot of people do it.
Kubota technician in WA here, these really are great machines, just make sure they are allowed to do their regens. The three most common failures I see on them are 1; NAPA/Wix fuel filters, they claim to be low enough micron, but with how many machines have needed new injectors all with NAPA/Wix fuel filters, I don't believe them. Use Kubota fuel filters. 2; Cast bucket coupler, I've seen half a dozen or so shatter, haven't heard how any of them did it, but I'd recommend replacing with a steel fabricated one if it ever does. And 3; Engine wiring harness, they have had an issue where above the engine the wiring vibrates in the loom and it wears through the insulation and breaks the wires. I'd recommend checking yours to see if the insulation is wearing, and if so the harness isn't too bad to pull out of the loom and wrap with a roll of electrical tape for more cushion. Mainly the section above the valve cover itself, not where it starts routing down to the emissions on the left or on the right where it goes above the cooling pack.
I had a 91 for years and decided to replace it with a new 040-4 two years ago . I love this thing. I'm a retired operator and just use this on my place. I've only put just over 300 hours on it but the emout of work it's don't si far has nearly payed for itself already. Coal decking logs, digging stumps. Cleaning out the ponds. Power trenchs. Fence post holes, grading out my roads. It's been a great investment plus saves my body. The only thing I don't like about it is trying to see the instrument panel. I have about 50 years of experience if anyone needs advice on a purchase. I hate to see people taken advantage of.
@Pinnaclelandclearing I think it's a great machine for the size. As far as cost, the 60 grand I paid for a open house isn't chump change. Theses machines are not cheap and you get what you pay for. I'm not going to spend alot of time explaining why I didn't buy a deere or cat or any other's for around my farm but I will say I've ran equipment my whole life and money is not a problem. Enjoy life, it happens fast.😊
@ I’m actually in the process of making a purchase. Wasn’t sure about 4 way or 6 way and a few other things. You helped me make a firm decision. Waiting on quote from local Kubota dealer. Thanks again:)
Decent Japanese machine for the money but Kubota cuts corners all over that machine (especially on the boom and dipper). If you look at the same size in a Takeuchi TB240 almost all the joints are fully wrap welded with a 1/16th thicker steel going to the Tak along with spiral wound armored hoses where there are none on the Kubota. On that machine they run tier 2 drive motors instead of binned tier1 on the Tak. Lastly Takeuchi comes with TAG buckets and thumbs, not sure what the Kubota comes with.
Oh ya it’s a huge jump. You’re talking going from a 25 hp non turbo to a 40 hp turbo machine that weighs 3,000 more pounds. It’s quite impressive but also costs more and you have to deal with DPF, I haven’t had issues with it but it is something to consider.

I've been looking at the 75 -3. I like. your review of it. Looking forward to more videos from you.
Awesome. Thanks man.

Great review!
Glad you enjoyed it
That was very informative and helpful. Thank you for sharing your experience and insights.
Thank you and hopefully it helps anyone trying to learn or buy one of these machines!

Love Kubota products all running even on very low temperatures
Great review! I looked at all the brands and went with the Kubota primarily because of the hydraulic flow if I get a mulcher in the future.
Ya was one of the good features. I just like their simplicity and toughness personally. Glad you liked it!
Thanks man. Appreciate it.
Thank you for the review!
NO problem. Thanks for the comment.

which "U" series did you have? I currently own a 33-4 and looking at the U48.
Also I actually find my 33-4 has more power than the 35G JD
A u35. Good power but just to tippy for us. I have used a u48 and the difference is massive. Ya the 35g and under in JD are I little under.
@ so you’d say the u48 would be a huge difference than my current 33-4?
