- "Belladonna" was released in the spring of 1976 on UFO's fifth studio album, No Heavy Petting. This beautiful ballad is just one of the reasons that No Heavy Petting has always been my favorite UFO album. UFO has always been such a strong band, from their first recordings until their latest, their talent shines; always exceptional guitar work, amazing vocals, consistently strong songwriting...and some of my favorite keyboards in rock and roll! Although of course, Paul Raymond would join the band after this record and contribute seriously fine work on many later album, but the keyboards on this record by one-album-only Danny Peyronel are my favorite in the catalog....plus the guy co-wrote a couple of my other favs from the album!
I've commented before about my love for UFO, so I spare the effort....suffice they are simply one of the most consistently great and lasting of all the hard rock groups. Pick up some of their albums form the last few years.....incredible!
Anyway.....this is another example of a video I started years ago and hadn't gotten around to finishing. I was inspired to the work by the single clip of the spider hiding in the flower, which I knew I could build a vid around...all I ever got around to doing was working up that clip with the "monkey lady" art from the cover....it sat for some years, but now it's done. I had promised to finish some of my UFO ballads at the time of my last UFO vid (for "Take It Or Leave It") hope you enjoy it...as always thank you for watching!
As always HUGE THANKS to everyone who's art contributed to this new art.....THANK YOU!!!
[Lyrics]
Oh, Belladonna, never knew the pain
Maybe I'm crazy, maybe it'll drive me insane
The open letter just carelessly placed
And your moving silence, the tea so delicately laced
Out of reach, out of touch
How you've learned to hate so much
Out of reach, out of touch
How you've learned to hate so much
Came from passion and you gave it a name
The fingers of poison like needles in the drivin' rain
So smile discreetly as you watch with such grace
Now I must slip away but can you forget my face
Out of reach, out of touch
How you've learned to hate so much
Out of reach, out of touch
How you've learned to hate so much
Out of reach, out of touch
How you've learned to hate so much
Out of reach, out of touch
How you've learned to hate so much Видеоклипы
Пока вселенная существует эти вещи будут жить сильнейшая рок баллада
Their most favorite!!! Oh, brother MGM, what a pleasure!!!
***** Greetings brother...yes this is one of my favorites by the band as well!
Beautiful song, with an excellent emotional lead by Schenker.
I remember words from this song " How you've learned to hate so much " :)
!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A forgotten gem!
the poor guy is getting poisoned by a vengeful woman! 'the tea so delicately laced', and belladonna, the poisonous plant. and yet it's such a beautiful song. by the end the music on one channel sounds agitated while the other channel sounds dreamy. Such clever juxtaposition in so many ways. True art!
Love that UFO get The MGM treatment again and again .... Michael Schenker is GOD !!!!

Thanks MetalGuruMessiah Great one for being the stream .
Beautiful
c'est superbe ,tout ses effets et ses couleurs si chatoyantes !!! BRAVO a toi :)))
The colors in the tubes from the monkey to the gals neck, very cool. You looked at a Hypgnosis album cover and said, "What is that?" And it made you think. For some reason this song is crazy high in views from Russians and or Eastern Europeans. I shipped this album and others from the warehouse back in 1978-79.
Не просто просмотров у россиян-- россияне безумно любят эту балладу и во время гастролей UFO в России по просьбе зрителей
Фил Могг спел эту балладу ! Это выступление есть на моем канале, добро пожаловать!

love is a blossom
Great song, thx mate.
I can tell how much you love this song (and UFO) by the amount of effort you put into this vid. It's a beautiful work of art, Jon! There are so many elements of this vid that remind me of your past works, leading into the present. I love the masking, picture selection, colors, movement...everything! The moving colors in the tubes connecting the monkey to the woman was so cool! Also, the juxtaposition of beauty and sadness is brilliant. Fantastic share, Guru!
MчstícRhчthmsSєvєn Yes I really am partial to so many of the UFO ballads, Dan....and of course the rockers! LOL! You are correct that I did give this one a couple of extra edits when I was at the point on most vids that I just say "Enough!" ;-) as I really wanted to capture the beauty and sadness of the music and lyrics in the visuals. The tubes I planned to also give some flow effects...which wouldn't have been too much extra work, but I never got around to trying it. Looking forward to doing some more of my fav UFO....hope you'll find them enjoyable as well. Thanks as always for the thoughtful comment!
Always said this one should have been on Strangers in the Night\

Hi, I'm a 53 yr.old guy who loves rock arts.. I'm one also one of your avid fans of your amazing videos.. I Have two Favorite songs by Ian Hunter - Ships and by Smokie- Think of me, I'm the lonely one... Can you give a story to these underrated songs, if your not too busy... Thnks Mr/Miss MetalGuruMessiah.. More Power!
Hi Mandy! Thanks for the very nice words for the videos. Ironically in the last few days I've pulled up an old video I'd been working on for another track from the "You're Never Alone...." album; at the time, I wanted to do "Ships" but it was going to take a different more involved video, so I started "Standing In My Light" as a simple effects/album art video until I could think of how to do "Ships"! These are the kinds of suggestions I love! ;-) As far as the Smokie track....I have to admit, I don't know anything by this band, though I'm familiar with the band....I always planned to listen to some of their stuff....thanks for giving me a starting place. THANKS for the great message.
