Crazy Midnight Ferry Trip From Barcelona to Ibiza, Spain
The thing I love about your travel videos is that they're very chill, extensive and informative while still being very entertaining and enjoyable to watch; a lot of people just rush through videos and fail to relay the sense of actually being there along with all of the things mentioned above :) Thank you for making these videos, much appreciated!
I just love, love, love the Mediterranean, and it's so interesting to note how similar each location on the Mediterranean is -- there really is a kind of Mediterranean culture (and a look and feel) that's similar from country to country which share its coast and waters. I only know the Côte d'Azur, but it looks a lot like what I've seen of Barcelona and Ibiza from your videos. Really beautiful. So sorry about the bad boat ride. That really bites! Hope you catch up on rest & I'm looking forward to seeing more.
You need to take a ferry from Majorca or Ibiza to Sicilia! And then travel to Bari or Ancona and take another ferry from there to Split, Dubrovnik or Zadar!
I would love to do that. But the problem is it's too cold to really enjoy the islands as they should be. So I'm going to wait to go see Mallorca and Menorca, as well as experience Ibiza again another time during the summer or preferable June or October, when it's not high season but is warmer so you can experience the beaches and swim in the sea.
Yeah. I took a ferry from Dubrovnik to Rijeka (Croatia) up the coast of the Adriatic sea. Had a room because it was about a 24 hour ride. Wish the ship was almost empty like Gabriel's. It was a zoo! 😀
very cool video as always ..... great to see all the different places!!!!!
:)
Have Fun, sure you will. My motto to my self in the late 70s when I was doing similar travels was something like
"better to travel imperfectly than stay home"....
:)
nice
Welcome to Ibiza . For many of us who live here the winter time truly is the best season of the year. Peace and quiet rules.
That ferry was way nicer than I thought it would be...and its cool they give you a small fridge in your room. That room is an excellent deal for the price you paid! Awesome vid as usual and thanks for taking us along!
For $28 bucks I did not expect such a big vessel. Maybe it's more expensive in the summer months.
Cute little room 13:37 in Ibiza. 💚💛 Fridge. People are hanging their laundry to air dry.
Great video, as always. Seasickness is the worst feeling, particularly when it happens early in the voyage and you know you have the long night ahead. Looking forward to seeing Ibiza and beyond. Enjoy.
I know, it was thinking about being stuck feeling like that for 8 hours that really started to freak me out. Fortunately things calmed down, including my stomach.
Found the Ibiza videos I was searching for! Thanks, I am enjoying them very much.
Great episode Gabriel! I enjoyed all of the Barcelona ones too! Gracias por compartirlos aquí!
Si, no problema amigo!
Sea sickness sucks, glad you made it through the rough ride. Enjoy Ibiza.
Finally, after all these vids i've been through, you've come to a place I've also been in. Great!
Welcome to Ibiza. Hopefully you are feeling better after getting some sleep. Look forward to exploring the Island with you. 👍🤓
Sweet, thats the same type of ferry I took from Ireland to Wales! Also, wow! Just from what I'm seeing when you got off the ferry, Ibiza looks the exact same as it does in "Test Drive Unlimited 2", a video game I used to play a lot.
Merci Gabriel, thanks to make me dream 😊❤
It is so beautiful. The weather is supposed to be +17C and sunny on Saturday.
nice music, i like it
Beardless looks terrific on you and it took a few years off too! I hope you catch up on your sleep after the long, woozy ferry ride and enjoy Ibiza.
Thanks Melanie. It's been two days and my sleep is still messed up, trying to get back to normal.
Sorry to hear you had a rough start to the ferry ride. Hope you are enjoying Ibiza. I hope you do make it over to Mallorca
That journey look interesting ,, total go to Majorca, "Palma" n down " Sa Coma " Nice place , lovely orange juice,n nice meals :) enjoy time in Ibiza
Gabriel Sir, As usual really a wonderful video from Spain.Keep it up
Thanks.
hey Gabriel im a sailor, try to stay near the back of the vessel less up and down motion. thats what usually makes people sea sick
Amazing video, thanks. good luck my friend 😉😉😉
Ibiza,E pills and techno music!
You've been watching too many music videos about taking pills in Ibiza.
looking at the map, I would have never imagined that a ferry from Barcelona to Ibiza would be 8 hours 🤔
Love your videos Gabriel. Safe journeys and enjoy your travels :)
Cool video hope I can visit Ibiza one day!
Loved it as always.
Amazing videos !! I feel like I am traveling with you
Ibiza eh?
Greetings from Trujillo-Peru
Bummer mate, i hate getting sea sick plus no sleep....i hope the trip back was a little better you. cheers.....
-A
Yeah I flew back, way better!
Gabriel Traveler how much was the flight?
Hope you enjoy Ibiza island, Gabriel, I recommend you going to Menorca as well, a beautiful island to do some treking and biking while visiting the island as you like. Wanting to see more videos coming. Enjoy my friend !
Thanks, I like it here, nice and peaceful now. Looks like I won't make it to the other islands this time, because I'm flying to Morocco in a week. But I absolutely want to come back here again sometime and explore these amazing islands. I'd rather do it when it's warmer though, now it's too cold and rainy to fully be able to experience the amazing beaches and swimming in the sea, etc. Only problem is, when it's warmer, it's going to be a lot busier and a lot more expensive! Maybe May would be a good time to come? Still low season but should be warming up by then.
Gabriel Traveler Wow Morocco seems to be a very cool destination, looking forward to watch these videos!. I highly recommend you coming in October to visit the Balearic islands, still warm and not high season as might be June/ July and August. Also I highly recommend you visiting the Canary Islands after Morocco, they are very near from Morocco, cheap flights from there, cheap hotels ( as its low season ) and good weather all the year. Hope its good information for you my friend, hugs !
Unreal Citizen I see, great tip on the Canaries, I'll keep them in mind!
Gabriel Traveler I have a dear friend on Gran Canaria, Lila. She's @lilamarbella on Instagram. She's originally from Bosnia. I'm pretty sure she still owns a bodega -- I haven't asked her lately how that's going. But, point being: if you want a connection on the Canaries, get in touch with Lila. She's an amazing lady and would welcome you warmly, and perhaps could get you set up in an inexpensive hostel. She may also have guest capabilities connected with the bodega. Or, even an extra room!
Karin Lynn Bates Cool, thanks for the tip. I'll jot that down in case I end up going out there. No idea yet, hadn't even considered it, but I bet it would be pretty sweet.
Sometimes blowing chunks is the quickest way to getting better. Would love to see you bent over "huggin' the bowl!"
Been there, done that!

Gabriel Traveler Is your cell phone a GSM phone where you can switch SIM cards? I ask because I know roaming internationally isn't too cheap.
The Ambitious Minnesotan I'm not sure but I have T-Mobile and they have a good international plan. It's just 20 cents a minute and free texts in a lot of places. However I barely ever use the phone to talk anyway. Mostly I communicate with people online or use skype or whatsapp. So I don't get new sim cards when I go to new countries.
Gabriel Traveler Oh okay. Yeah T Mobile and AT&T are GSM carriers meaning you can put other SIM card plans in the phone. Sprint and Verizon on the other hand are CDMA, which I'm not entirely sure what it means, but they can't use other SIM cards like T Mobile.
Love this channel, really inspiring
Great, thanks a lot.
Nice "Sangre de Toro" Wine... from Chile. Viña Torres! Saludos desde Chile.
No, creo que el Sangre de Toro lo hacen en mi ciudad Vilafranca del Penedès.
When the sea gets rough sleep on your back you won't get sea sick. + boat looked empty (low season) so enough room to lay down on the seats
Unfortunately the seats had armrests between them that couldn't be moved, which was really annoying because otherwise there were tons of seats available, I could have stretched out. Could have laid down on the floor but no carpeting so it wasn't ideal. I just sat there hanging on until the boat mellowed out and then worked on the computer.
- 😊😊
Great video.
Thanks
Looks cute and good looking 😍
I noticed you're almost 50k subscribers. congrats! Are you home for Christmas? Thanks for being an inspiration. Greetings from Canada.
Yeah, pretty awesome. It looks like I'll probably be in Morocco for Christmas, so that'll be interesting.
so dumb they keep the rooms closed if no one is on the ship. They could offer a little extra to the clients in this case. I guess they have a strict budget and changing the sheets may be too much of a trouble for them.
This time of the year must be cool to go there! i couldn't imagine being on a crowded ship for the night
I don't think I could handle 8 hours. I get so sea sick especially when I used to go on a ferry to France on holiday from England. I defiantly couldn't drink wine on a ferry or I'd throw up lol
Hayley the flights from Barcelona to Ibiza are cheap and quick if you can’t handle the ferry length
did u get a new camera the stabilization is much better it seems video looks great
Yeah this is with my new Iconntechs camera, more info below the video. They're only $90 on Amazon.
12.54 Gotta Catch Em All 😂
just 25 euros to ibiza.... amazing
Almost at 50k!
Yippitty doo-dah. :)
Great job! Really enjoying your work/traveling vlogs. Their infrastructure really puts USA to shame. We do have a high speed ferry here Muskegon/Milwaukee, 2 hrs. 20 minutes, 80 miles across Lac MI. Looks like you travelled a good 150 nautical miles.
Go to Lanzarote, canary islands
After three videos - which I liked very much! - I have to ask.... WHAT VIDEO SET UP DO YOU USE?.... simply amazing results
Great, glad to hear it. Here's another video in which I show all the gear I use for filming:
ruclips.net/video/OEo1Y4AUSWk/видео.html
PS. I'm a Seinfeld fan too.
Think the flight to Ibiza is pretty cheap to
Barcelona guapa maravilloso felicidades saludos 👍👍👍👍👍
Love this video I heard about this ferry as my ex has been on it, sadly I didn't get to go as we split but I am keen to try this as it seems a cheap way to get to ibiza.
Also what is the drum n bass tune you use in this video? I love it.
Cool, glad you enjoyed. The music is listed below the video.
@@GabrielTravelerVideos I really should watch whole videos before commenting! just clocked it, thank you :) I just subbed you as well.
Hey Gabriel, how do you get cell phone service in Barcelona? I have T Mobile and i dont get service in Spain. Im from LA
I have T-Mobile and it worked for me in Spain without getting a sim card or anything. Maybe you have to pay extra for the international plan? I would call T-Mobile and ask them.
Have you ever looked into couch surfing?
Yes, I've tried a few times here and there but haven't had much luck with it, mostly just because I haven't tried hard enough. I did use it in Canada once and actually found a room in a house to live in that way.
I am planning a trip to Barcelona and Madrid any tips to get connected ( have cell phone service in Spain) I see you using Google maps on your phone. Any advice is welcome :) Safe travels buddy. @Gabriel's Travel
I have T-Mobile and they have good international coverage, so I didn't have to do anything special to have service there. I guess it will depend on which company you're with. Otherwise you might have to get a local SIM card, but I'm not sure how that works as I've never had to do that.
Did you have to go through metal detectors or a body scanner? Were there guard dogs? Im at a different firm but security seems to be hard here, even though im not leaving the country
Is it allowed to stay in the car?
No, I don't think so.
hi Gabrieal! Big fan of you, let me ask you something, did you pay the hostel bed to check out at 7?
Yes, I paid a full night at the hostel to be able to stay there for the day. And then I also paid for that night at the place in Ibiza to be able to arrive and check in early in the morning, so I double paid that night.
Ibiza in the winter must be a very weird place....surely everything is closed?
A lot of business are closed but there are still plenty of restaurants and stores open. Lots of construction going on. And pretty cold, I don't think I'll be taking a swim in the sea, but you never know.
Gabriel Traveler Come on Gabe. We know you. If there's a beach access you'll jump in any water! Lol
Roy Okay, you're probably right...it would be silly to spend a week in the Mediterranean without getting in the water. We'll see what happens!
Gabriel Traveler I've only ever been to Ibiza for opening/closing parties. I imagine off season is very very different! beautiful island though. Look up Casita Verde, a non profit eco lodge run by a British guy called Chris. you can stay on the farm in exchange for some work on the land, he teaches permaculture too. Formentera is worth a visit too, hire a bike and explore :)
rackstar 1 Cool, yeah I was talking to someone about Formentara today. I'd like to go for a day trip, it will depend on the weather, supposed to be rainy the next couple of days.
do you get a SIM card in every countries ? if yes what is the difference of price ?
Hey! Wheres the beard? LOL!
I posted a note here in the comment section explaining. In short: my beard trimmer exploded while trimming it because I shorted it out. Woops!
That is unfortunate. Namastai! Its ok because thanks to you I have learned a new word. :)
Were there custom checks for the ferry?
No, there's no customs. You just get checked by the ferry staff for your ticket when you get on the boat. They might have asked to see some ID, I forget.
Gabriel,
First time solo travel: india and nepal or thailand, laos, vietnam, cambodia?
I would suggest southeast Asia, start off in Thailand where it's a little easier traveling and then check out some of the other countries around there. But if you're up for the challenge then India and Nepal are amazing as well. Nepal is much mellower than India so it would be better to start there.
Thank you for the reply and the awesome content!
Gabriel Traveler 😆😆😆
😍❤👌👍
To go to Ibiza do people go to the mainland first then get on a ferry like you did or can I fly directly to Ibiza from the US or Canada?
There's an airport on Ibiza.
Fly to Barcelona and then get a plane or ferry from barcelona to Ibiza
How did you buy the ticket for €28? Whenever I check it online it's over a €100
This was almost five years ago, in December, so ticket prices have probably changed.
@@GabrielTravelerVideos thanks man
Gabriel, I'd like to interview you for my youtube channel on the topic "Tips for Solo Travel". What is the best way to reach you? will you be coming back to Barcelona or be in Spain for a few weeks? I'm in Barcelona Dec 1-7, then in southern Spain and Portugal until Jan 5. thanks in advance!
Hi Seven, I'm on Ibiza for about a week and then will be flying to Morocco. Unfortunately I can't do online interviews right now because the microphone stopped working on my new computer.
ok no worries. I'd prefer an interview in person at some point. I suspect our paths will cross sometime in the future (missed you in Lima Peru last year by one day... and again this year by one day in Spain LOL)
Seven Grey Ha ha, wow, that's a trip! Yeah maybe next time.
is there an app to book the ferries?
I'm not sure, but most likely there is.
60€ for a small room in high season is so expensive 🙊 Makes me want NOT to go there ^^
I have just discovered this guy, no offence, but he is geeky, but charming.
Works for me, I'll take it as a compliment.
I don't think he's at all geeky, just a very nice guy.
Do you get involved with locals when you travel?Do you get to know the people?
chubby...shut up.
What’s geeky means?
damn he knows spanish
Just a little.
