If I saw someone activate Kuriboh against me, I'd have nothing BUT respect for them.
Me: having Kuriboh in my deck and also having angel’s wings (or whatever it’s called) to insta win against someone who had 7800 points of damage stacked against me. If you know what Winged Kuriboh lvl 10’s ability is then you know exactly how I won.
I played fog in a mtg tournament fnm once (its basically kuriboh) and the dude freaked out! He was like "no one plays that!" I won next turn
I have both Kuriboh and Winged Kuriboh
I’d be surprised as hell, I’d be like “no freaking way”!
i use kuribuh and winged one as well, they can be a life saver
Third rule of Yugioh: Your opponent has Honest in their hand until proven otherwise
if they summon a LIGHT monster, specifically.
Fourth Rule of Yugioh: Your opponent has Gorz unless proven otherwise
@@darksteelhero1 Gorz! Emessary of the afterlife! :P ! Now we talking :P !
That was definitely the rule back in the day. Same as if they had had a Blackwing on board they always had atleast 2 Kalut in hand.
Until you are required to show your hand, Always say no if mind crushed 😂
They never expect the magic cylinders
They really never do, it's amazing
I keep one in my deck just in case 😂
Not true
I always expect my opponents to use magic cylinder or mirror force
It wouldn't work against psychic end punisher
I miss old school Yu-Gi-Oh so badly. At least then I didn't have to wait 25 moves before I can finally have my turn.
Uh-huh. Anyway I flip Imperial Order, Royal Oppression, and Skill Drain then set Big Shield Gardna in defense. Response?
@@Rynjinivar You activated all three of those first cards in a single Chain? Then I chain my Call of the Haunted to that and revive Jinzo. Chain resolves, Jinzo's effect goes first and negates all Trap Cards, thereby blocking all of your floodgates.
@@neobullseye1 That indeed seems like a likely event for you to be able to pull of turn 1 after losing the coinflip
Or even T3 after winning it for that matter.
The point is that Yugioh has almost always been a sacky fuckfest of a game, it's astounding it's survived this long.
@Rynjinivar It's almost like it is fun or something.

For real😂😂😂😂😂
That card is rage inducing
Honestly
I thought he was gonna say "the problem with new-school yugioh players is that you don't read your damn cards" then proceed to banish the Synchro monster because it wasn't actually unaffected.
Reading has NEVER been a required skill in YGO, new or old school XD
I mean they are a book
@dadsbigman especially considering most old school yugioh were vanillas and reading them was just for fun
Thank you for saying it
@@GambeTamaoh yeah? I once came back from a hiatus and bounced an E Hero absolute zero to the extra deck because i thought the floating effect only triggered when it was sent to the graveyard. I got attacked for game the very next turn.
This is just Yami Yugi reincarnated into the real world at this point. This man has mastered the Art of Heart of the Cards
The Art of the Heart of the Cards - say that three times fast! Love your comment!
Yu gi oh lost " the heart of the cards" long ago. It no longer has any redeeming qualities. Cards like exodia are supposed to be king. And take tome to summon. Yet on turn 1 or 2 players can fill the board with cards as equally strong as exodia... straight dumpster garbage.
@@georgevause8641 That's sort of the problem. Like
A good chunk of the ban list exists just so Exodia isn't reliabke enough to be more than rogue deck if even that.
Its sheer nature means that you have to set up a heavy draw deck to get the pieces turn 1, maybe turn 2, which is even more unhealthy than current meta, otherwise, you're setting yourself up to garnet on up to 5 turns.
Even when it does do well, its gameplay has to be minutes upon minutes of searching and drawing and such to either win or brick, which is absolutely terrible
The funny part is Cali still technically used a monster effect in order to get over Psychic End Punisher
Right, it just didn't need to affect the P-E-P. You can target it all you want for effects, but if said effect tries to affect P-E-P you're S-O-L
@Joshua Wenninger: Unaffected by activated monster effect, meaning if a monster activated effect only need to take a picture of the attack point of the monster unaffected, that is not considered affecting the monster since it does not cause the attack point of the unaffected monster to change.
Y'all. He was referring to when Cali said "you think monster effects are the only way to defeat a monster."
He wasn't referring to Punisher's immunity. He was referring to Honest being a monster.

@@SorenFE93 That's one way. I love to watch my opponent's face fall when I trigger it in response to an attempt to destroy it, second only to having one negated in chain and responding with the second waboku I set. Like smacking off the head bucket to reveal the smaller bucket.

I remember when spells were called magic, and decks were built with what ever card you had, until gx came out

In my native language they are still called magic card. Im french btw
sometimes at our locals when a player asks how long ive been playing i answer them "and now i play my magic card" and 1 of 2 things happen. they start laughing because they get the joke (that ive been playing from the beginning) or they get this really confused look on their face like what is this guy saying.
@@powerghostsenior you could simply answer the question without being cringe
I actually won a tournament game with Kuriboh back in the day. When I was first starting to play ygo tournaments, this was a little after cybernetic rev had come out and cyber dragon decks were getting popular. My opponent power-bonded a cyber end dragon to attack for game, and I was like "discard kuriboh, no damage. And um...about your power bond..."
DAMN! LOL! NICE xD!!! 👏👏👏
This is why I like to have Kuriboh in my deck. I don’t just have 1 Kuriboh, I have 3 of them, so I can take as many hits as I can. Of course, this was before I learnt about the banlist, and the only banned card that I had at the time was Pot of Greed because of the 3 Yugi decks which includes a Marshmallon, whom I still use to this day, like my Kuriboh’s. I also started playing during the pendulum era, but didn’t really cared for them since A). I didn’t know how to work them, B). I’m new to Yu-Gi-Oh! and there was no one (besides my brother who got me into Yu-Gi-Oh! to begin with) to learn from, and C). I slowly learnt the ruling of Yu-Gi-Oh! even if it took me to finally start using a deck that was following the Ban/limited list of Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG, which was when Miscellaneousaurus was put to 3 and that was practically the entire change of that Banlist. I am so happy to see how far generic cards such as Raigeki going to 3 or Change of Heart, Yata-Garasu and Time Seal all going to one is super sweet, I love it. Can’t wait for the day I’m able to play my Childhood deck the same way I did in the past, with 3 Monster Reborn’s and 1 Pot of Greed. Everything else was 3 Swords, 3 MST, 3 Mirror Forces, 3 Dust Tornados, my 3 Kuribohs, and I think those are all the 3 of’s, and I don’t recall having any 2 of’s with the rest of the deck looking like a 60 card deck anime styled deck that shouldn’t win most decks, but have a pretty great starting hand. I would love to recreate my childhood deck one day, but with the best rarities in my own humble personal opinion (and most of them are going to be a Secret Rare). Can’t wait to go into debt when I do so
@pistincup352 fun thing about yugioh is that if one is banned there is always something similar that isn't just gotta go looking

Psychic End Punisher is only unaffected by your opponents activated effects if your LP are lower than your opponents. In this duel, you showed PEOs controller as having higher LP, meaning it could have been hit by BLS regardless
But if would still be the wrong play, when you can just hit for 12000 damage.
"you just think monster effects are the only way to beat a monster" and then proceeds to use a monster effect to get over it.
No, BLS destroyed it through battle not through its own effect, maybe learn some comprehension, using effects too buff his own monsters is not same as out right destroying or debuffing the opponents.

Enter magic cylinder for the unexpected win

The fur ball always knew when he was needed
I played against your friend at Las Vegas regionals this weekend. Great guy and great match
Remember this new players, there is a reason the ban list consists of somewhere around 10-25% first-second generation cards.
No there is no particular reason other then them being strong cards at the time.
There is absolutely no reason for monster reborn to be banned OR pot of greed. Limited maybe but not banned. They are no where NEAR as strong as cards we have now.
@@SlayerPDX pot of greed being banned kinda makes sense. Every player would run it since it is a free +1 in card advantage and gets two cards out of your deck. This makes decks more consistent, which means going first is even better with more cards to work with.
Monster reborn I can see getting unbanned since it requires a graveyard to be set up, which is a little harder to do and it more of a one for one trade.
@@SlayerPDXbro pot of desires,a card that banishes 10 cards off the top of your deck and is a hard otp, is still hit. Literally every deck would run Pot of Greed
@@tripleaaabattery8480 that's not true but some players just ain't on that level I guess
@@SlayerPDX all right, not every deck, since some decks really want certain cards in the grave, and drawing into them might make it harder. i think there was a recent masochist banlist tournament where there was one person out of everyone who didn't play pot of greed and they won. still, i think very few decks would say no to a free consistency booster like pot of greed.

Anyone "old school" is alright in my book, since even some of the cards from back then are still going strong today xD
Synchros and xyz’s and pendulems pissed me off so much I rebuilt a deck I designed 2005 ish. A deck I like to call “The Deck That Never Ends”. This deck removes the gy, negates all monster effects, denies special summoning and prevents the opponent from attacking and allows me to endlessly remove from play (and return them to the deck) all monster cards while I gain 500 lp for each card each time I do this. Many new school “duellists” refuse to duel me. I’ve updated the deck somewhat nowadays and apart from 4 cards is still an old school deck.
When I last played Yugioh like 18 years ago, my deck was a dark/light chaos themed deck, with Tyrant Dragon and Barrel Dragon thrown in for fun. Mirror Force, Magic Cylinder Sakuretsu Armor, Raigeki, Harpies Feather Duster, Chaos Emperor Dragon, Black Luster Soldier Envoy, Chaos Sorcerer, the Jammer traps, Witch of the Black Forest, Cyber and Fiber Jar, Scapegoat... good old school fun yugioh. Now its like a whole different game I can't even follow.
I have an old yugioh power of chaos game on pc. I still boot it up every few months to play. Feels good to play a game that isnt already decided by the time i draw a second card.
Goddamn. Imagine the potential synergy that could be obtained by properly mixing old school and new school plays
It could be so damn strong
In general some old school strategies like beatdown decks can outplay all these negates. Won w/ Skull Servants quite a bit because of their massive attack
Im a old school yuigioh enjoyer, but only got into actually dueling when new school yugioh stuff happened...
To be fair...it may sound primitive, but part of me loves old school dueling logic, and 3 of my favorite devks exclude the extra deck.
One is a fiend inspired deck that works off taking control of my opponents monsters and/or tributing them to cripple my opponent. Another is a pretty decent monarch deck that is my "boomer" deck.
And...then there is my baby, my pride and joy...my dino deck...it just feels "right" to use...it scratches a primal instinct of "big dino smash" yet has opponents forget that its gimmicks allow clever play as well...
Funniest and quickest duel i had was literally a opponent activating a trap on my second turn that somehow when chained with another banished my entire deck aside from my starting hand after my draw phase...in any other circumstance i would have been boned...especially as they had a monster that while face up with this card was indestructible with a equip card and had 2 to 3k attack...
I looked at him, derpily played tyrano inffinity...and subsequently had a monster whose attack was 30-40k attack (i ran a big 60 card deck over 40 for just a bit more variety) and attacked said monster...the bleed through damage waa enough to end it turn 2. It was frankly my favorite victory for how blunt, simple, and frankly "given" it was.
Now THIS... This does bring a smile to my face. 🗿♥️
My opponent playing with Psychic End Punisher: Nah, I'll gonna beat you
My H.A.M.P in my hand: Let me tribute this man's whole carrer.
Black Luster with Honest is chaotic evil. 😂😂
“You think monster effects are the only way to beat a monster” no better words have been said
Man, I still play with old school light/dark deck with chaos emperor dragon, black luster soldier, gorz, honest, etc. And it feels so good winning agains meta decks haha
Dude just used my favorite monster, I'm happy.
I remember all the crazy stuff you had to do to make a busted deck in old school Yu-Gi-Oh. Fear and respect the old cards.
Most important thing a PEP user needs to remember is that there are always going to be cards that can attack over it. Crystal Wing, Starving Venom, anything with Honest. That's how you kill it.
i mean bls could have just removed it from play with its eff. since PEP eff only works if your life points are lower than your opponents which in this duel they werent.
This the type of yugioh I miss actually out playing the opponent
one time i used a old school red eyes fusion deck online against one of those newer decks, in all seriousness i still have zero idea whats going on when they play. but big monster smashy smashy does the trick usually pretty fast
a face down magic cylinder on the other side would of been hilarious. "oh i do respect old school cards"
yeah so psychic end punisher has this little line of text on its print, I don't think you hear them say it, because they mention it very briefly after he summons bls, but it says that it is unaffected by its opponent's activated card effects, which includes magic cylinder, and if you think that changes nothing, you have to understand, for magic cylinders to deal damage, the attack of the monster must be negated, and since the attack won't be negated, he's not taking any damage.
At our first time at locals my friend og mirror forced a sky striker player and the place went nuts it was dope
My opponent: Sets up for ten minutes
Me: Lol, Mirror Force
I had a promo card for Honest, my local game store had a metric tonne of copies of it for 50p a piece at one point before it closed.
Psychic End Punisher's summoner had a brave poker face and it Would have been an epic moment if the old school player had pointed out Punisher not having Towers status and banished it. Either way, Punisher's days were numbered.
He used kuriboh and it sent chills up my spine. Then he banished light and dark and I knew what was happening next.
The Honest BLS combo takes me way back 😂 I had the BLS from the master collection and a ghost rare honest back in the day
in my light decks i would always run 3 asura priest and 3 honest. It was kind of fun being able to clear an opponents board and deal heavy damage on top of that.
The next Live Duel Challenge should be Goat Format decks. Respect the old school cards!!
Old school still hits hard. I took down a Gren Maju deck without a single hit, using cards like Waboku, Swords of Revealing Light, Mimicking Man-Eater Bug, and a few good Fortune Lady monsters. And that Gren Maju was on the field with 11,000+ attack. You just can't beat the old Yugi classic of Swords!
I thought psychic end punisher was only unaffected by card effects if you had less LP than your opponent
New/current Yu-Gi-Oh goes WAY above and beyond in it complexity, I wish the game would go back several years at least... That way I could still enjoy it.
I miss being able to ruin people with my Endymion Spell Counter deck, and my Gladiator Beast deck. 😢
Throught all the years. Mirror force has gave me the most unexpected headaches
I run a toon deck with Obelisk thrown in for fun and I’ve dumpstered so many “modern decks” with Mimicat and Toon Black Luster Soldier leading the charge.
I would love for there to be a tournament that is old school Yugioh only. No synchro tuner b.s, no having your opponents summon 5 monsters and play 20 cards in their first hand. Just simple dueling
The amount of Games I won with Honest and Kalut back in the day man 😂😂
That is why I rock a dark magician Deck with a mix of old and new cards
I ran a Galaxy Dragon Deck for a minute in Master Duel and it was actually a pleasant surprise to see a Eldlich Deck (haven't played since it was new) cause Galaxy decks have a card that deals will all spell and trap cards from the grave. Galaxy Cyclone, I send it to the grave and leave a couple there.
I started in a generation where link was new, I can never truly understand old school Yu Gi Oh! Just glad I could play today with my spellbook dogmaitka.
Wasn't Black Luster Soldier used to defeat those 5 guys that worked for Kaiba as well?
