Hi, I am a trainspotter from the UK, could you give me a bit of background to American rail and mabye freight in particular? Also are there different operating companies or is the whole rail system government run? Thanks and sorry the questions are a bit vague but I visited your channel and didn't really know what I was looking at
Hello Henry, most of the railroads in the USA date back to the 1800s and those railroads are now fallen flags cause they don't exist anymore you'll still find the rolling stock with fallen railroad names. The railroad you see here is called Norfolk Southern which is a Class1 type railroad which operates in 22 states hauling freights. There are other railroads that operate in the US and sometimes get other company locomotives from Canada or Mexico. If you ever get the chance check out other videos I've taken you'll find other railroads.
