  • How to cold start a vintage John Deere 112 garden tractor.
    Update: Based on the comments, I should mention that I have a 10HP Kholer engine with a 12HP carb on it. On the 12HP carb, the choke is backwards. That's why the it looks like I am moving the lever in the wrong direction.

      That switched was removed from ours decades ago.

      You can loosen the black shifter plate thing with the numbers on it and move it back slightly so the shifter will press on it

    Electric fuel pump and choke is hooked up back words

      Electric fuel pump goes on and off with the key as it was designed to. In the description was an explanation about the choke. It too is actually correct.

      @@cwalker71 mine is completely different mine doesn’t have a electric fuel pump from factory mine’s a diafram pump and my choke is you lift it up to start and ouch it down when running

    • @cwalker71

      @@mitchellsmining2400 Mine didn't either. The mechanical pump on mine failed and was leaking gas into the crankcase and it was cheaper to replace it with an electric one. Plus, the electric pump has made it easier to start and it never starves for fuel.

    See I don't know how much those sell for in full working condition with the deck on it.
    When I'm done with the engine I'm gonna start on the deck because i know its needing a good work over.
    I got his brother's craftsmen what i favore the most running the same day I got it the gas pump was broken and needed to be gravity fed so it's now gravity fed to the carburetor no more pump. It wasn't working for him because the gas tank was lower than the carburetor even with the pump if it worked the tank was to low and the gas had to travel upwards so it doesn't anymore I wouldn't sell that mower though

      It was a video for my 10 yer old daughter who was learning how to start and drive the tractor.

    Why did you raise the choke

    • @cwalker71
      @cwalker71  6 лет назад +2

      Good eye... I wondered if anyone would catch that. My Deere is a 71 112 and has the 10HP Kohler engine. The only difference between the 10HP engine and the 12HP engine is the carb. This tractor has the 12HP carb and as a consequence the choke has to be hooked up backwards. So when this one runs flat out both levers are all the way up. I have been meaning to alter the decals on the dash accordingly but just never got around to it. We have also adjusted the governor to allow it to spin up to 4000rpms.

      LACROSSE_BOY_7898 I have to raise choke on my 69 112 or else it won't start, rust in fuel tank, so it gets in carburetor, without choke it won't start
