- This was a neat one to watch. First off sorry about the lack of proper lighting at the beginning. The light switch was all the way back down the ladder we had to climb up to get to here and we did not realize that at first, lol.
That motor sounds incredible, and that selector is very cool
Love that selector! First switch is floor position, second switch I'm guessing it levelling upwards, third switch levelling downwards. And the carriage that moves left and right along the track makes a connection with static contacts that are live when a call is active, to initiate the stop. In otherwords, exactly like the Otis selector! This lift is probably easy to diagnose a fault providing there is a drawing for it, as everything is in the open. Great video!
Such a cool selector! It looks like there are three parallel sets of pie plates for slowdown, door zone, and stop. When designing the composite controller, dover probably took this and evolved it into a more otis-like design.
very nice. it’s an utter shame the building was vacated when i went past here, guess it was too late to get a good video of those turnbulls….
I love my love way selector slides across to select the different sets of relays for each floor. A brilliant bomb proof design and see well maintained with lots grease. Where's that lift

@elevatorsoflakecountyTV I was their 25 years ago when I hitch hiked to every province in Canada . Is the lift in a office block then? Here in Oban my friend has a 70s lift . Might ask to see machine room. I know it's got modern switch gear as the old up down arrows been replaced with digital numbers but bet it's same motor
@ this was in a university building at U of T, Banting institute.
I've traveled in cn tower express lift . Have you ever been in its machine room. Must be mad being at 1000 feet
@@lookoutleo I wish! But sadly no
That's a hella cool selector, looks like the ancestor of the well-known variant used on later Dover models. Any chance this was also used on Rotary?
Tecnologia antiga , ainda em funcionamento, provavelmente quem dava manutenção na época ja não existe mais.
And now this thing doesn’t exist 😢
What is the actual function of the electron tubes occasionally used in the circuit? I once saw mercury vapour rectifiers in one of your videos. It's somewhat clear to me what they could do in the circuit. But tubes?
To be honest; I’m not sure.
