- En karavan med polska brandbilar åker genom Falun på väg upp mot de stora skogsbränderna i Hälsingland och Jämtland. En mycket härlig stämning på platsen, Räddningstjänsten Dala Mitt var med och välkomnade polackerna!

It is kinda amazing, really. They received an official request from Sweden on the 20th. of July. On the 21st they organized 140 firefighters , 44 vehicles + tons of equipment and supplies they will need. Traveled to the sea shore of Poland, jumped the ship, sailed over night. Got off the boat on the 22nd, traveled another 1200 + km to the center of Sweden, set up an operations camp and finally the first thing in the morning on the 23rd went onto fighting the wild forest fires. I wish more things in life would work with the speed , precision and efficiency as this Fire department does. One thing is for sure, that fire is gonna get its ass drowned and suffocated like there is no tomorrow.

philnyc Thank you for the kind words! Today I watched interview with our firefighters, who are in Sweden now. They are surprised by such a nice welcome and that the Swedes call them 'heroes". They asked to leave praise until they did what they came for. Real tough guys :-) Greets!
Absolutely no one in Poland treats this assistance in political terms. Here is Europe and in difficult times we help each other. Sweden has helped us MANY times - supported us after the war (an article in Polish, but it's worth translating) and in the terrible communist era. Here in Poland we are just happy that today we can help and repay. Cheers!

Wolfy54, no need to be embarrassed, the amount of fires and the vast area they spread out to,gotten beyond anybody's control. Forest resources in Sweden are extensive, population scarce in the central and northern portion, so it is understandable that there are not enough fire fighters and equipment to fight it in these very unusual circumstances. No worries, that is what friends are for. With all these powerful and joined forces up in the air and on the ground we will put an swift end to this natural disaster. Good luck to all of the Fire Fighters .

Leaving the so called refugees aside, I don't think it's embarrassing. It's optimal to have enough resources to run the regular operations. Of course they will not be enough when a major disaster happens but then you ask others for help.
Poland had so many fire fighters because here the fire department not only puts out fires but handles just everything that the police or Medical Services don't do (from extracting people from crashed cars to chemical spills). Also, especially in rural areas, fire departments (also the volunteer ones) take special part in culture and life.

In our media a lot is said about a warm welcome in Sweden :-) There are also interviews with these firefighters who came to you, they said that they are very pleasantly surprised, many times they were on such missions, but nowhere they were accepted so nice. And for sure, thanks to this they will work even harder. Greetings from Poland, we feel very VERY sorry, we wish you rain and change the weather as soon as possible!

Don't hope too much... The swedish state is spending huge amounts of the tax money on replacing its own people. It has the highest priority, our politicians and media have made that very clear.
remember Poland is not Monaco...we are circa 5 x less minimum wage that S.
