Toxic1Strike actually quite the opposite my friend, a majority will agree that it’s one of the best Star Wars movies. It’s got similar tone to a movie like Empire Strikes back, but also maintains originality and concludes in a heartbreaking but hopeful manner. it jumps between Return of the Jedi and Revenge of the Sith as my Favorite Star Wars movie just because theirs so much I love about them all 😂
One thing I disagree with is you saying Anakin sounds entitled when he’s mad about not getting the rank of master. Because he sees it as the council not trusting him completely and a way of getting him to stay quite about his assignment since they don’t want him to blab. Hell even Windu is telling Obiwan and Yoda that he doesn’t trust Anakin. Not to mention Anakin has been one of the Jedi’s greatest warriors in this war and even took down Doku so he feels that him not getting master but getting put on the council is just to keep him quite
He nearly all the Jedi die, Anakin gets completely crippled, the Republic collapsed, Clone Wars makes it much worse, Grievous gets burnt inside out, Dooku gets decapitated, Younglings, those poor Younglings, but I can see why you would think Rouge One is dark, but I believe Empire Strikes Back is darker.
This is my favorite Star Wars movie. It has everything I want from a Star Wars movie. So many lightsaber battles and epic one-liners ("I have the high ground", for example). It even has the most epic score in the Star Wars saga. I won't go further but this is the most epic Star Wars movie.
Growing up with the prequels, I have a soft spot for all three, even though they're obviously flawed. But I'm not gonna lie, still love Revenge of the Sith. I understand all your criticisms, but I personally got into George's ideas and went along with it. This and The Last Jedi are the two black sheeps of Star Wars for me.
The best Star Wars movie. A lot of people either say episode 3 or 5 but I feel like episode 3 is the better of the two. It's just so emotional and I love it.
While Revenge of the Sith's firmly the best of the prequels, it does have a lot of over acting and cringe-worthy dialogue. Although I personally like it, I don't find it to be nearly as good as the movies of the original trilogy. The only thing that it really has over them is action, but action of course isn't everything in movies.
@@CulturalMarxist4985 The original trilogy also has overacting and cringy dialogue. Those two things come with Star Wars. Star Wars is cheesy and I'm ok with that.
Conor Stack the original trilogy has some reeeeaaaally cringy dialogue and over-acting as well. In fact, Harrison Ford complained to George while filming that the dialogue was awful. I think people see the original trilogy films through rose-coloured glasses. They were great movies, but Revenge of the Sith easily rivals them in terms of quality.
@@SarastistheSerpent Could you give an example? I can't think of any lines, or scenes in the original trilogy that are more cringe-worthy than "Love won't save you, Padmé. Only my new powers can do that", or the Palpatine vs Mace Windu sequence which is filled to the brim with over acting. In which movie did Harrison Ford complain to George Lucas about the dialogue?
Padme was the straw that broke the camel's back. The distrust in the Jedi and their corruption is what pushed him to the edge. Also what finally pushed him over was when Windu said exactly what Palpatine said "He's too dangerous to be left alive" so what's the difference between the Jedi and Sith?
Revenge of the sith, Empire Strikes Back, The Force Awakens are the best movies of each trilogy but we will see if Rise of Skywalker is better. For the stories its Rogue One imo
The last movie in the prequels, the second movie in the original trilogy, and the first movie in the sequel trilogy..... I'm not disagreeing with you, I'm just pointing out the pattern of the star wars movies that are your favorites (which are mine as well)
Zachary Fineour that’s actually kinda funny really. The last of the prequels was the best of its trilogy, the second film of the OT was the best in its trilogy and TFA might be the best in its. 3, 2 and 1. Lmao it all connects!
This is probably the movie that I've seen the most times , I watched it over and over as a kid, and I think it has problems but it is my favourite starwars movie
Unlike Attack of the Clones or Revenge of the Sith, The Clone Wars series really delves into developing the Clones and making them more human. Do u plan on talking about the Clone Wars or even Rebels before or after the Skywalker Saga review? If not would u ever plan on talking about your favourite episodes of both animated series? Would be great to hear ur thoughts... 🤷♂️
Personally this is my favorite Star Wars movie. I sort of want to address a few of your point and explain how I see them. I agree with a lot of your bad points and all of your good points. First, I wanted to talk about the passage of time. Anakin was on a mission to rescue palpatine. We have no idea how long he was on that mission. This means Padme could've been pretty far into her pregnancy by the time he got back. Of course based on her appearance she couldn't have been more than 3 months in. Next, I wanted to talk about what I feel about why Anakin really turned into Darth Vader. You talked about it in your video, that Anakin has a distrust in the Jedi Order. Now of course this doesn't appear to be the main motive at all and the movie makes it seem like it's because of the dream. But that's atleast how I personally view it. The final turning point for Anakin, to me, is when Mace Windu has Palpatine cornered and tells Anakin, "He's too dangerous to be left alive." Anakin fully loses trust in the jedi order and instead decides to side with palpatine. The side benefit is that he might be able to stop Padme from dying. This is further explored in the clone wars. Clone Wars SPOILER ALERT: Ahsoka, Anakin's padawan, was temporarily exiled for something she didn't do and eventually leaving the Jedi Order due to her own distrust in them. Now of course that's a big fault of the movie, so maybe I just like the story of this time the best, and the movie itself may not be as good as I rate it. I also agree with a lot of your bad points of course. Anakin being whiny about not being a Jedi master is ridiculous, along with him force choking Padme. Now, why I like this movie the best out of the bunch is because of the character study of Anakin, the fall of the Republic, Palpatine's character being extremely elevated by this movie (improving later episodes), and the exploration of the universe (and the scale of it). I just don't feel like there's another character study in the Star Wars movie series except for maybe Kylo Ren. And I think his is weaker. Also, the world building and scale of the universe is the best, except for maybe Episode IV or Episode II (I know it's bad but the universe building was good). I guess at this point I'm just saying things I already said but if anyone ever reads this let me know what you think.
To me the turn made sense 1. I think Anakin was warranted to be mad about not being a Jedi Master. He killed Dooku and was doing all the hard work in the clone wars. He knew something was off before he found out they wanted him to spy on Palpatine. Then on the dark side at least he got to run things. 2. From Phantom Menace they always pointed out how Anakin liked fixing things and being in control. So the thought of losing another person close to him had to run his mind. Especially a fine woman like that 3. The Jedi Council was hard on him from the get go. Palpatine was always just uplifting him and encouraging him to be all he could be 4. So you’re telling me that you knew his mom was a slave and that he missed her but he couldn’t go visit for a day once a year 🤷🏾♂️ 5. Sometimes once you know you’re so deep in you just gotta roll with it
Yeah I think the Jedi council thing is perfectly understandable, I think that’s the whole point of the movie that Anakin is being given something that most people his age aren’t given and he’s still not content with it.
George lucas himself confirmed it in the rots director commentary that him being denied the rank of master did not contribute to him going to the dark side. He joins palpatine because of padme. His inability to let go of his attachment to padme is why he makes a faustian pact with the devil (palpatine). On mustafar he cries after killing the separatists because he knows he is on the wrong side but knows that it is the only way to save padme. Anakin knew palpatine was evil and that is why years later he tells luke it is too late for me son.
Hi Sean! Just wanted to remind you that your profile picture is gone! I don't know if it's just me, but definitely check it out :) Keep up the great content!
Now we get to my favorite prequel and one of my favorite Star Wars films of all time. I know from dialogue, cgi and pacing it’s weak especially compared to today’s technology and filmmaking but it’s still a pretty good Star Wars movie imo. While the prequels bored me to tears this one has always been a favorite of mine since I was a kid. I might even like his more or as much as return of the Jedi. My I guess only complaint is that if you don’t watch the clone wars show or read the books you won’t know Jack about general grievous like he comes in this film out of nowhere and wasn’t built up at all in the last movie. I guess that’s just a problem with the prequels in general. Some characters like grievous aren’t set up well in their movies. And when I rewatched all the Jedi get murdered I didn’t care that much cause I didn’t know any of them until I saw the clone wars or read the books. Those are basically my only real complaints and it trying to cram a lot of stuff in it but other then that I enjoyed it. 7.9/10.
JK Network I have to disagree with you on the pacing, I think it flows nicely and the movie goes by rather quick. Attack of the Clones on the other hand... that movie drags a lot and feels like it’s 4 hours long in my opinion.
Holtsar oh yeah for real. Dude I rewatched it a few years ago and it felt like being in class listening to a boring lecture or something it sucked. Lord of the rings movies are longer and they flow better.
I never thought about that stuff with the clone troopers being grown solely to die before. That actually helps why Anakin treats his clones better than most other Jedi
Sean this was actually quite a deep discussion you had and for once I actually agree with your reasons. Never thought I’d really ever say this but hearing what you have to say about this film makes me see the prequels a bit different. Not saying that may change my opinion but now I see your thoughts and opinions about the prequel trilogy. And I deeply respect what you have to say! Once again an amazing video and I can’t wait to watch more
@@sikid4000 It was really boring and forgettable (same for AOTC). I don't remember anything in the story, and I was so bored. I would have gave it a 0/10, but one saving grace would be the final battle. It was epic and really fast.
NGL, i think you summed up the movie perfectly for me: Its pretty good, but fails completely at the most important parts. For me, A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back are the very best Star Wars movies. And i grew up with the prequels.
@@carncats07 Nostalgia isn't a good enough reason to enjoy some sort of entertainment? It's absolutely a good reason to like something!!!! You're comment is the only thing pathetic here.
I HAVE watched this movie probably 50 times in my life, and have not re-watched The Last Jedi since my first viewing 2 years ago. (That's about to change... gotta refresh my memory in preparation for Ep. 9)
I think his turn works. I get what you are saying about more political and anti-Jedi motives for his turn, but he clearly embodies these values later in the movie in his conversation with Obi-Wan before the fight. While his belief in a dictatorship wasn’t the REASON for his turn per se, it is one of his core driving forces once he did turn, and one that he could fully embrace after he has turned to the Dark Side. Regarding the motives for his turn, it is clear he is very emotional and has a need for control. They also establish early on that there he possesses a great amount of fear. We see a very similar moral discourse in Episode 2 where he kills all of the sand people (including the women and children) after his mother dies. So this debunks your point that he turns to a child killer in 10 minutes. It is established that he has an emotional weakness, and, when exploited like it was, can lead Anakin to doing unimaginable things. Also, his relationship with Palpatine is heavily developed, especially in this movie. Anakin DOES realize there is some fishy business and goes to Windu after learning Palpatine is a Sith, but eventually his emotions get the best of him. The reason Anakin decides to cut off Windu’s arm is a combination of his deep-seated desire to save Padme, and Palpatine’s “helpless” act as Windu is killing him. Not only does Anakin sympathize with this “helpless” Palpatine, who, despite his evil nature, has deep ties with Anakin, but he also is motivated by the fact that if Palpatine dies, there is no chance to save Padme. Eventually, I believe that the combination of all that I have mentioned above led to Anakin’s turn. Essentially I see it as an embodiment of Anakin’a flawed nature. He is prone to emotional outbursts, and now the stakes are so high that he has succumbed to a “permanent outburst” if you will. He has permanently let his emotions and his preconceptions get to him, and it has led to a complete moral turn of his character.
Revenge of the sith is not only my favorite star wars movie but also my second favorite movie of all time, this movie just had an emotional weight to it that I love.
Honestly most people don’t care but I’ll give my honest rankings of the Star Wars movies. The Phantom Menace: 5/10 Attack of the Clones: 4/10 Revenge of the Sith: 9/10 Solo a Star Wars Story: 7.5/10 Rouge One a Star Wars story: 8/10 A New Hope: 10/10 The Empire Strikes Back: 10/10 Return of the Jedi: 8/10 The Force Awakens: 8/10 The Last Jedi: 5/10 For the heck of it, TV shows! The Clone Wars: 10/10 Rebels: 7/10 Resistance: 5/10 DISCLAIMER: this is all my personal opinion please don’t hate me if you disagree, thanks.
LostBoyAJ why put return so low? Its my favorite movie. The ewoks are annoying but the stuff with luke and vader outweighs the ewok problem by a million.
mason essary absolutely nothing wrong with it, I was ranking the special edition Version, but I’ve recently rewatched the original, and I liked it a lot more I’ll probably edit my comment and give it a higher score
I know I'm a little late to the game so my comment is a bit reduntant, but I don't care since I love posting my oppinion. Sean I do very much agree with all of your suggestions on how to make the movie (and the prequel trilogy) better and I also see where you're coming from by saying, that anakin's turn didn't work for you. However, it actually worked for me personally and I want to explain why it did. Of course I have my interpretation of certain scenes and so I also interpret the turning scene a certain way. In my mind what supports his turn is, that he has never really fit into anything his whole life. When he was a child he was a slave, and the only person he really had was his mom (I know we see he had some playmates, but I don't think life as a slave was all that much fun). After that, a person, whom he immediately admires comes to (in his mind) save him from this life. Shortly after though, Qui Gon was killed, and he's away from his mother now, so the only person he knows now is Padmé (whom he had liked very much since the first time he saw her), however in his training as a jedi he can't see her at all which surely isn't preffered much by him. His situation at this point is that he's one of the jedi now, who at first didn't even want to train him, and he's being trained by a person he only vaguely knows. Now on the bright side, while I'm sure Anakin's and Obi Wan's relationship didn't start out very smoothly, they manage to become very good friends over time. On the other side though, Anakin feels, that Obi Wan doesn't always support his decisions, plus the council still doesn't like him very much (at least in this mind). So after all that he finaly sees Padmé again and wants to spent all of his time with her, because when he's with her he doesn't feel so repelled. At the same time however, he loses the first important person of his life (his mother). At which point he is frustrated (he coundn't save her, he feels missunderstood by the council and Obi Wan). Besides all that however, there is another person who Anakin feels respected by, which is of course Palpatine. He has worked on gaining Anakin's trust and becoming his friend ever since he has arrived. (I would include Ashoka here, since she isn't in the movies I'm going to skip her, even though I do believe she is just as important as the others here in Anakin's turn). So to complicate things now, Padmé is pregnant and although Anakin tells her not to worry, he is worried, because he knows he has to leave his jedi life behind him (the other way arround is not an option for him). To top it off, he feels more frustrated with the council, because they don't trust him, while they want him to feel they're on his side (they put him on the council, but don't grant him the rank of master), they discuss things behind his back and put him in the position of spying on his friend, who at the same time plays the innocent other side perfectly, which Anakin can relate to, in that Palpatine feels mistrusted by the council and has a feeling, that they want to remove him, so with all that happening, while not neccesairly knowing it Anakin instantly sides with the chancellor. And then at the pivotal moment he sees his friend being threatened by the very jedi who mistrusted him the most and he's given a choice: 1. Siding with the jedi, losing Padmé, betraying his friend and doing what has been told him is right for years, but what he isn't so sure anymore is right OR 2. Siding with his friend, saving Padmé, betraying the jedi and doing what some time ago seemed bad. Except, Anakin doesn't make that choice in the chancellor's office, he decided that in the scene where he and Padmé are looking out the window at the same time moments before he went to the chancellor's office. In the true moment of his turn however, he rethinks his choice and comes to the conclution, that this is what he has to do and goes through with it... All that said, I still belive, that you are right in saying, that it could have been written better and that they could have shown more of Anakin's distrust and his struggle. In spite of that, it still works for me. I originally wanted to explain why I think it works, that he stays on the dark side, but this comment is so long already so I will post a reply, where I state my oppinion of that. Respect an thank you to every made that read the whole thing.
I hear what you are saying about the motivation (or the lack of it) and I respect your opinion. The thing is he had PLENTY of motivation. Think of it like this, you lose your mother, the only person who you love with all your heart. And you couldn't do anything about it. Then you see the other woman in your life dying in your visions as well. More than that, you see the Jedi simply not giving a damn about you your whole life. I remember when Mace Windu says "if what you have told me is true, then you have earned my trust" he is indirectly saying that he doesn't trust Anakin. Then you see that same guy trying to kill the preacher type guy in your life. The same guy who says he can save Padme. At this point Anakin is fed up with the Jedi and idk about you but I would be pretty mad myself if this were to happen to me. PS great content mate😁
I really like this movie, and I think it’s my favorite Star Wars movie outside of the originals. So, I do have some thoughts on what you said: First, I definitely think that Anakin’s arc works. It absolutely could have been better, and I do prefer your idea of addressing the arc over several months over what we got. However, I don’t fault the movie for what it gave us because we know that Anakin is a very emotionally driven character from the past two movies. So, it makes sense to me that this sharp fear of losing another loved one clouded Anakin’s judgment and influenced his turn. From there, he started to fully embrace the Dark Side and the idea that the Jedi were corrupt and evil. It is a shame that the dialogue between Anakin and Padme was so dreadful, though; I think fixing this problem alone could have made Anakin’s turn much more believable. As for Padme’s death, I think it makes sense. I’ve heard that people can die from losing the will to live, so it doesn’t bother me that much. Like Anakin’s arc, though, it could have been better. The last thing is actually a big problem I have with the movie, which is the pacing. It’s not uneven, it’s just too fast. I just watched this movie last night, and even though I’ve seen it more times than I can count, it still felt rushed. For a movie where so many scenes are invaluable, it’s important to let each one sink in before progressing to the next, but this movie doesn’t do that, and I think that’s its greatest flaw.
I see what you're saying about Anakin's turn being so sudden, and to an extent, I agree, but I feel like he does question his actions, he even says what have I done? after slicing off Mace Windu's hand. But what you're saying about his decision making is intentional. He was rash and not thinking clearly. As Vader, he is likely constantly wishing he did things differently, and now has nothing, Padme is dead, he's responsible for the deaths of 100s of Jedi etc. Now the only thing he lives for is the Empire. You can see his regret and sadness in Revenge of the Sith, when he is crying on Mustafar before Padme and Obi-Wan arrive. But great vid as always man
Definitely the most nostalgic Star Wars film for me, and it has the best lightsaber duels that apparently none of the new movies can get around. I would put this in my top 3 of Star Wars movies so far. But I also do understand the issues of the story, the dialogue, and an excessive use of cgi.
I also don't buy into most of the motivation of Anakin, the problem here is that, thematically, it has a beautiful idea that it was love that brought him to the dark side and it was also love that made him good again in Episode 6. However like you said, it happened way to fast for us to grasp that, it wasn't contextually good. It's too bland for us to believe it led him to kill children just like he was as a young Jedi for... love? So much more work needed here. P.s. this is my favorite star wars movie :P
I agree with your analysis completely on this film. Thats always been my issue with this film as well - I don't buy Anakin's downfall. Even how he does it - falling to his knees "I submit myself to your teaching" - who does that? Did someone teach him that - this is how you become a Sith Lord? Than to run off and immediately slaughter a temple full of Jedi - his peers who he has fought with, mentored, and was adored by as a war hero.... it just doesn't work. I also don't like how the film creates the contradiction with Ep 6 and Leia's memories but Padme dies here in Ep 3. Even how she lost the will to live but still names the children... what? Its sloppy storytelling that could've been easily avoided. I did like the battle sequences and the scene where Anakin is confronted by Obi Wan in Mustafar... its a little cringy (I love the Republic.. I love democracy) but still an effective scene. One of my least fave films in the series.
This used to be in the middle of the pack like 4th. But after a few rewatches, I love this movie it is easily 2ed if not 1st. Good plot, great Character, and an awesome scope. This movie is so good 10/10 easy.( Especially if you’ve watched The Clone Wars.)
I just started my Star Wars rewatch yesterday. I haven't seen most of them since I was a little kid, so I'm excited to know my thoughts now that I've changed a lot.
I like that he tells us how he would structure the prequel trilogy and it is really genius and I like how he would make Anakin a more thanos type character
Personally, I think Anakin’s turn works for the most part. He is already weary of the Jedi’s motivations and morals AND he already trusts Palpatine and sees him as a friend. When he walked into the room with mace and Palpatine, it looks like Mace is just going to execute him which is not the way Jedi are supposed to do things as far as he’s been told most of his life. He’s growing to distrust the Jedi and to trust Palpatine more and more, on top of that the dark side is growing in him, and he’s being manipulated by a much stronger power that is he unaware of at this point. he had lost his mom and in turn killed an entire tribe (including children) so the dark side had always been growing within him. Death of loved ones scare him. This leads palpatine to tell him about the resurrection powers and be able to manipulate him to try and do ANYTHING to save the person he’s in love with. After he kills Mace, he probably thinks he won’t be accepted back into the Jedi so his last chance is to join Palpatine to become more powerful and save Padme.
He didn’t go straight to killing kids he killed mace windu and realized he can’t come back from that and then just fully commits also cuz he still did have his doubts about the Jedi so that action solidified him on his path
It's normal that everyone's ranking is tied to what generation they belong to. I am old enough to have grown with the original trilogy, which holds a special place in my heart. I cannot stand the pre-quals because not only very bad casting across the board but bad CG. I did enjoy the FA but they start losing me after that.
So true, it amazing to see all the love this film is getting in the comments. I presume it's mostly from those who saw the prequels first. When the prequels were out they were universally hated and deservedly so.
Sadek X hilarious that you boomers have so much nostalgia for the old movies you cant see their flaws while at the same time hate on the prequels for the same stuff that is present in the OT. Carrie fisher has some atrocious line delivery in a new hope that is far worse than anything in the prequels. Im not saying i dont like the original trilogy, in fact, I love it. But people like you hating the prequels because of too much cgi clearly have no idea how much of the movies we’re actually practical effects.
I know you shouldn’t have to read books to watch the movies but in the vadar comics it shows how smart and strong vadar actually is as well as how he has so much regret to what he did. Which helped out with the part of Anakin betrayal to the Jedi
Personally I abdolutely love this movie and although it has some problems inside of it, there is so many great scenes and moments that I can confidently call this my favorite Star Wars
Really like this one it's a instant classic for me because that order 66 scenes and all the memes and all the sad moments and all the jedi battles were brilliant and to top it all off palpatine vs yoda? Yes! Anakin Vs Obi Wan? YES! Anakin Vs Dooku? YES! Mace Windu Vs Palpatine? YES! Obi Wan Vs Grievous? YES!
I would say I agree with you on that anakin part because they should have had him killing the Jedi at the temple still loved this review and like this movie I’d give it a 8/10 and for me the 4th best Star Wars film behind the original trilogy films
Anakin's turn is a little quick. However, legend has it that there is/was a 4 hour cut of ROTS. Perhaps his turn is a bit more gradual in it. I've also read that the Palpatine rescue sequence goes for an hour. Has anyone else heard or read any of this?
@@joeyjerry1586 It has problems that i cant ignore. And to be clear...Empire i'd probably rate as a 9.5. But ive watched ROTS so many times, to the point where i notice the problems with it..they just dont bother me. If that makes any sense
So for context, I’m 21 and was 7 when this movie came out. I never got to see this in theaters, but picked up a copy of it shortly after it released on DVD. This was and probably still is my favorite Star Wars film of all time. It’s definitely not the best, that goes to Empire. But when I want to sit down and watch a movie and simply watch what’s going on instead of thinking about the nature of the Force, etc., this is what I put on. I really enjoyed the opening, and just recently enjoyed the nod/foreshadowing of General Grevious’ asthmatic cyborg/robot thing that Anakin would shortly become. The Utapau sequence was awesome, the fight between Windu and Palpatine, and Order 66 scene packed a hard punch. The final battle is probably my favorite due to the epic scale of the fight. The score by John Williams also is amazing. The moment when Anakin is severed and burned is something that we all morbidly agree we wanted to see. We wanted to see exactly what caused Vader to be in the condition he was during the OT. The connective tissue between this and A New Hope was nice. The film is my favorite, but I know it’s not perfect. But I feel that the good heavily outweighs its problems. Not to mention, the plethora of memes to come out of this movie is just glorious.
By the way, that scream Palpatine unleashes when he screams is actually meant to stun enemies. That's why those three jedi barely had a chance. Master Windu didn't buy into it cause, well, he's the second most powerful jedi in the order.
I think you hit the nail on the head Sean. I used to love this movie when I was a kid and still do, but it has some glaring plot holes and issues. Another awesome video man, keep it up!
Well I agree with you with the problem of Darth Vader not being a true believer My main problem is that they also give absolutely no indication that padme is in bad health or that her death is imminent they don't show her suffering or in pain related to the pregnancy
19:05 Actually palpatine used a sith force power called force scream that makes the others lose contact with the force and see things happen really fast (for a seconds) so that is why he killed them so easily
I completely agree with every point you’ve made here. I feel exactly the same about his turn - it just doesn’t seem justified and it could have been done so much better. It does frustrate me to be honest because there are absolutely awesome moments in all three of the prequels, but the actual story could have been so much better. I didn’t really notice it when I was kid, I was 13 when revenge of the sith came out so naturally all I cared about were the lightsaber battles. I do find all three of them hard to watch now though which is mainly down to frustration. I’ve gotta say though, the clone wars animated series is very good and it does mitigate some of the damage done in the prequels. Loved the video anyway, you explained exactly how I feel.
Star Wars movies ranked in chronological order Phantom menace (6.5) Attack of the clones (6.0) Revenge of the sith (9.5) Solo A Star Wars story (6.5) Rogue one A Star Wars story (8.0) A new hope (8.5) Empire strikes back (9.5) Return of the Jedi (8.0) Force Awakens (7.0) The Last Jedi (2.5) Rise of SkyWalker (1.0) I’m from the future and rise of skywalker is trash
The argument of claiming ‘original trilogy bias’ is just dumb to me. It implies that people went in wanting to hate the prequels because they didn’t show Han or something, which is just dumb. If I had been alive I would have be so excited for all three films. They’re new Star Wars films! Who wouldn’t be? I feel I still would’ve hated them none the less because they’re simply bad films. Nothing more
NOT INVESTED IN THE CLONE WARS SERIES 😲 I watched it as an adult, and it’s one of the greatest pieces of Star Wars storytelling. Still love the video dude! I’ve just never heard that from someone who’s seen the whole series.
When Anakin is being suited up, you can hear his heartbeat in the background. For a brief moment it stops, indicating perhaps he was dying and sidius used padme's life force to keep him alive

I really love Revenge of the Sith, definitely in my top 5 favorite Star Wars movies! And even tho I disagree with you on few things you think are bad, I can understand and respect your opinion. Also again all your ideas on how to fix the prequels are honestly great! Also please make those how to fix the prequels videos!
There’s no argument to be made to dispute your criticisms. Nostalgia is a powerful thing and blinds anybody who grew up with this movie. Me being one that grew up on this film, I love it but I would never indicate it’s even remotely better than the originals
Probably my future Star Wars list when Rise Of Skywalker comes out 11. Attack Of The Clones 10. The Phantom Menace 9. Solo A Star Wars Story 8. The Last Jedi 7. Rogue One 6. The Force Awakens 5. The Rise Of Skywalker 4. Return Of The Jedi 3. A New Hope 2. Empire Strikes Back 1. Revenge Of The Sith
I couldn't agree more about this movie. I was thinking the same thing as I watched it in the theaters - for me they didn't "connect the dots" in a convincing way to show how/why Anakin crossed over. And then - after fulling becoming the Vader we all know and love - his first question was about Padme (for whom he allegedly pledged himself to Palpatine in order to keep alive). Upon learning that she died anyway, instead of turning on Palpatine for all the lies, manipulation and betrayal, he just yells "Noooooo!", and then serves as Palpatine's laptop from then on. That makes no sense.
Pretty much agree with every word, this is by a very long way the best of the prequels. I would only say this, the final few scenes should have been re-ordered slightly so the "NO!!!!!!!!" scene is the very last. Also, it should go something like this... Everything happens as is with helmet being fitted and the table rising so Vader is upright. The restraints automatically release and Vader steps forward with Palpatine to the side. Looking to Palpatine, Vader says "What happened, where's Padme?" Palpatine replies, with seemingly sincere sympathy "I am afraid that in your rage you killed her." Vader, without a word, drops to his knees and lowers his head. Palpatine walks around to stand in front of Vader, places a hand on his head and says "Come, my young apprentice, we still have much to do." Vader looks up and says "Yes, my master." Palpatine turns and begins to walk away as Vader rises to his feet Cut to credits.
Anakin asked the council and they didn't help him, they told him to let go, while palpatine gave him an option, a solution, so he ultimately had more reasons to trust palpatine, so he didn't suspect him.
Premonitions might not be relatable but fear of loss is. I like how the movie kind of shows anakin’s stress and his reasons for turning to the dark side. A more tragic death for Padmé would’ve been more emotional but i think this is great:)
I enjoy Revenge of the Sith, but your argument Mr Chandler is very valid, now that I think about it . The thing that pisses me off with George Lucas is that everything we hate about the prequels . He keeps forcing the lame agenda with . The Darth Vader noooooo line, was ridiculous, but he adds it to the Special edition of Return of The Jedi . Like he's spiting us . You didn't like that, well I'll show you . Anyway I'm ranting . Keep up the good work Mr C, and keep watching movies, too much .
This is my second favorite Star Wars movie. It has some amazing action, good human moments, and good acting. The Anakin vs Obi Wan fight is one of my favorite scenes in any Star Wars movie and one of my favorite action scenes for any movie.
Grade: A+ Score: 10/10 Good: Emotional Beats Visuals Set Designs Action Emotional Beats Wraps the trilogy perfectly Anakin’s fall Opening battle Palpatine Palpatine’s manipulation Order 66 Anakin vs Obi-Wan Score Generally great acting Most of the time, the dialogue is great Entertaining Pacing Bad: Some bad dialogue Vader’s ‘NOOOOOOOO’ was executed poorly Why did Windu bring those 3 Jedi with him when coming to Palpatine? It ended
First off, shout-out to Yoda for his hand-wave take-down of the Praetorian guards. This is definitely my favorite prequel, and the most emotional one, too. Great action sequences, special effects (mostly), and the wooden acting and dialogue is dialed back significantly. HOWEVER, my biggest problem has always been how blind Anakin has been all this time to Palpatine’s Dark Side. Never bought into his rushed conversion from a hero who would leave no man behind, to the Adolf Hitler of the galaxy. Padme is also dumb in not believing he would murder children after the Tusken children massacre in the last movie. Yeah, the fight at the end was great, and Padme’s death makes NO SENSE whatever. She loses the will to live, what?!? So stupid! And then everyone is put in their starting places for the original, instead of hiding the kids with new names. Why? And yeah, that NOOOO is so laughable. Still, all things considered, it’s not the worst in the franchise, and the best prequel...but George screwed up the most important stuff.

This is my favorite as well. Everyone can hate me for saying this, but I enjoy the prequels more than I enjoy the force awakens and the last Jedi.

Me too
Same, I love it. Anakin vs Obi Wan lightsabre battle is my favourite

Quiet* is the correct spelling my friend, but very good point!
He also knows he is the chosen one and feels like he deserves more respect than a “pawn of the Jedi council”
How do you know that?
Revenge of the Sith is definitely one of the darkest, if not the darkest of the mainline Star Wars movies.
It's probably the darkest Star Wars movie after Rogue One which is severely underrated.
@@CulturalMarxist4985 Rogue one was dark, but I mean... did you see what happened to Anikan?

Could you give an example? I can't think of any lines, or scenes in the original trilogy that are more cringe-worthy than "Love won't save you, Padmé. *General Kenobi*
So Random hello there
The scene where Anakin and Padme are looking at each other from across the city is one of my favorite scenes in all of Star Wars
I'm not disagreeing with you, I'm just pointing out the pattern of the star wars movies that are your favorites (which are mine as well)
Aron T-900 return of the Jedi is boring as hell
Aron T-900 do you feel a shift in the force lol?
Zachary Fineour that’s actually kinda funny really. The last of the prequels was the best of its trilogy, the second film of the OT was the best in its trilogy and TFA might be the best in its. 3, 2 and 1. Lmao it all connects!
Aron T-900 alright well to me empire strikes back is the last good Star Wars movie until Disney bought it and I stand by that opinion

If I watch through it before the new season then I’ll do my best to rank the seasons.
I just re watched revenge of the sith on Disney+ just 2 days back and I loved it, absolutely no regrets great movie
Revenge of the Sith is the best prequel
This has always been my favorite Star Wars movie since I first watched - I also love Anakin Skywalker because of this movie ❤️
To me the turn made sense
Especially a fine woman like that
3. The Jedi Council was hard on him from the get go. Palpatine was always just uplifting him and encouraging him to be all he could be
4. So you’re telling me that you knew his mom was a slave and that he missed her but he couldn’t go visit for a day once a year 🤷🏾♂️
5. Sometimes once you know you’re so deep in you just gotta roll with it
"A fine woman like that" is so accurate lmao
John M I didn’t say the women could act

This is unpopular opinion but this is my favorite star wars movie
Sean this was actually quite a deep discussion you had and for once I actually agree with your reasons. The best of the prequels by far!

This is my favorite Star Wars movie
Master Anakin Skywalker, really, Anakin? I mean you got turned to the dark side, burnt, became a machine and lost your wife.
So, I do have some thoughts on what you said:
First, I definitely think that Anakin’s arc works.
This is my favourite Star Wars movie outside of the original trilogy.
I agree with you, this movie would be so good if they actually made Anakin's fall to the dark side compelling
This used to be in the middle of the pack like 4th. But after a few rewatches, I love this movie it is easily 2ed if not 1st. Good plot, great Character, and an awesome scope. This movie is so good 10/10 easy.( Especially if you’ve watched The Clone Wars.)
@Brandon Kelly ok boomer
I love this movie. It's probably my favorite Star Wars movie
This is my third favorite Star Wars movie but I do get why people don’t like it
the best star wars movie ever fight me if you disagree
He also killed kids before (yes I know they were raiders but there still were innocent and didn't deserve that)
It's normal that everyone's ranking is tied to what generation they belong to.
Star Wars : We have the worst turn of a character in all entertainment
GOT: Hold my wine
haha
CK GD lmao but it should’ve been GOT saying hold my Starbucks cup 😂
This is a masterpiece conclusion to an underrated trilogy.
Jack Sparrow underrated film not trilogy
@@unnamed3086 yes
Un Named 1 and 2 are good. Definitely better than Rogue One.
Jack Sparrow That’s your opinion but I still amn’t the biggest fan of the first 2
Un Named The only real problem I have with them are Episode 1’s poop jokes.
Anakin's turn is a little quick. However, legend has it that there is/was a 4 hour cut of ROTS. Perhaps his turn is a bit more gradual in it. I've also read that the Palpatine rescue sequence goes for an hour. Has anyone else heard or read any of this?
Revenge of the sith, is my favorite of all the films. I love it. 8.5/10
MagesticDemon, your favorite SW movie and it’s only an 8.5?
@@joeyjerry1586 It has problems that i cant ignore. And to be clear...Empire i'd probably rate as a 9.5. But ive watched ROTS so many times, to the point where i notice the problems with it..they just dont bother me. If that makes any sense
MagesticDemon, hold on, you said ROTS is your favorite yet you gave Empire a higher score?
@@joeyjerry1586 Yes because ive seen ROTS more times. I gave empire a better score because its a better made film.
@@joeyjerry1586 Out of all the star wars movies. Revenge of the sith is the one i've seen the most times and enjoy the most.
This is my favorite Star Wars movie because the light saber battles are crazy and seeing anakin fight Obi Wan is just iconic to me
'I've been looking forward to this'.
I LOVE the prequels, especially with the Clone Wars, but objectively speaking your points are spot on.
Star Wars movies ranked in chronological order
Phantom menace (6.5)
Attack of the clones (6.0)
Revenge of the sith (9.5)
Solo A Star Wars story (6.5)
Rogue one A Star Wars story (8.0)
A new hope (8.5)
Empire strikes back (9.5)
Return of the Jedi (8.0)
Force Awakens (7.0)
The Last Jedi (2.5)
Rise of SkyWalker (1.0)
I’m from the future and rise of skywalker is trash
Aye Sean what happened to your channel icon?
I love this movie but come on, that is too far of an outreach no matter how big of a fan you are 😅
These are my star wars movie rankings:
The Phantom Menace: 5/10
Attack of the Clones: 3/10
Revenge of the Sith: 9.5/10
A New Hope: 9/10
The Empire Strikes Back: 10/10
Return of the Jedi: 8.5/10
The Force Awakens: 7/10
The Last Jedi: 2/10
Rogue One: 10/10
Solo: (Havent even seen it)
Shows:
Clone Wars: 10/10
Rebels: 6.5/10
I’d say (nothing Star Wars deserves less than a 5 imo)
Phantom Menace: 6/10
Attack of the clones: 6.5/10
Revenge of the Sith: 9.5/10
Rouge One: 9/10
Solo: 7/10
A New Hope: 8/10
Empire Strikes Back: 9.7/10
Return of the Jedi: 8.3/10
The Force Awakens: 9.9/10
The Last Jedi: 6.3/10
The Mandalorian so far: 9/10
How is 9 so high its the worst
I 100 percent agree, George got the important things wrong in episode 3.
I was 6 when revenge of the Sith came out so I definitely put it in my top 3 starwars films. Great video as usual keep it up Sean!!
Looking to Palpatine, Vader says "What happened, where's Padme?"
Palpatine replies, with seemingly sincere sympathy "I am afraid that in your rage you killed her."
Vader, without a word, drops to his knees and lowers his head. Palpatine walks around to stand in front of Vader, places a hand on his head and says "Come, my young apprentice, we still have much to do."
Vader looks up and says "Yes, my master."
Palpatine turns and begins to walk away as Vader rises to his feet
Cut to credits.
I sooo agree with your critique of this movie. Spot on!
Anakin asked the council and they didn't help him, they told him to let go, while palpatine gave him an option, a solution, so he ultimately had more reasons to trust palpatine, so he didn't suspect him.
Revenge of the Sith has the most rewatch value for me.
Same here. It's not my favourite Star Wars movie, but this one along with TFA and the original are the most rewatchable.
This is my favorite Star Wars movie of all time
This is my second favorite Star Wars movie. It has some amazing action, good human moments, and good acting. The Anakin vs Obi Wan fight is one of my favorite scenes in any Star Wars movie and one of my favorite action scenes for any movie.

In my top 3 Star Wars movies for sure!
This is easily in the top 3 favourite Star Wars movies for me, possibly the number 1
See it would’ve been better if Palpatine used like a dark side power to take Padme’s life and exchanged it for Vader’s
