Finish this thing! Every time I see a new video I drop whatever I am doing to watch. Always a great time seeing what you are working on and especially cool to watch the scrambler vids.
Yes, by all means complete yer video! I'm doing the exact same job on a 1981 GS850L and a 1982 GS1100L. There's no way to get around all the gasket issues etc on these bikes but, its all worth it. They are good running bikes. Good job Gold Guy!
Finish it bro! Hard bits done. Its a good idea to rotate the engine a few turns then re-check ya timing marks after installing the cams. Looking forward to some more TS vids. Another great vid, keep it up dude
2 things to note next time with a cylinder head like that. Use a granite or marble tile they can be bought at lowes or home depo. Even tile companies for counter tops also can cut you one then tap sand paper to it and use it to resurface the head and cylinder deck. Then on the gasket use copper spray on both sides of the gasket with even coats. Let set for 2 or 3 minutes then install gasket and head. Should not have any problems with leakage lol. Just a helpful tip.
thank you sooo much for posting this video. i really need to fix the gasket aswell. but i have never done anything like that before. this video will help me :D
Yo, you are doing great GG!..it IS time consuming to repair old stuff..but you have a great approach to your stuff. We can really see your improvements on wrenching, and you also make funny videos. See that you've got a great amount of new subscribers just in one week or so,..understandable! Keep the spirit up,..and when your a bit tired from a project, don't be afraid to let it sit for a while,..it has to be fun!..
The black accents on the engine look great. Finish it up and do one last motovlog on it before you sell it. I can't wait to see what you will come up with next!
You spent some money on that thing plus some of your own time. Not that you did anything wrong but you coulda got the cylinder and head machined to get rid of the pitted surface and reassemble a perfect fit. Hope to hear that run soon. Unusual build but I think what you had done is cool and a eye catching bike. Good luck and keep a twisting that grip.
Great job brother! Good to see there's still young men out there with testosterone who aren't afraid to tear into something. Fuck the haters, they're too scared and under skilled to do man shit.
Question?: when you put the aftermarket Pod Filters on, did it bog down any? Also, did you simply just take off the hose running from the top of the engine to the middle of the old air filter? Love your videos man
dude. remember i told ya it seemed like we were playing tag? well now its my turn for this on my 850....started off when i made a hard pull... ever since that, it sounds like its got a severe miss... so put the colortune in and seems like a weak spark on just 1 cyl and compression test numbers are varied between 125-150 (with and without WOT)... sometimes itll come back to 100% while riding then back to brup brupp idk hard to explain. maybe ill post a vid or message me if ya wanna see my zuki on facetime or somthin... i get a TON of compliments and never had an idea they had such a following but tbh i dont think mines that cool esp not as cool as yours!
I have done the same thing to a sohc cb750 had to pull the engine to do it though. Oil leaks came back in 1000 miles same ones, and I had the surface's cleaned good. Don't know why I did it, the leaks are so slow for how much work you have to do. I would just ride it
Excellent job! I'm working on a 1980 GS850 too - can't find the torque specs. for the oil pan bolts - did you use any goop/gasket maker on the oil pan gasket?
Thanks for another video. Enjoy watching. Don't think you arre supposed to apply any gasket helper to a head gasket. Do more classic Hondas. Keep it gold.
CRC Gasket Remover is the only chemical that works on those old gaskets. Also the Roloc will damage the gasket surface if you get too crazy with it or hold it at an angle to the surface.
You should finish the 850. I would say keep the 850 so you have a nice bike to ride on the street and mild offroad, and sell the TS-185, but it might not be the best. The 185 is designed for offroad, and you do have the CB750 for street, and the 850 can get you more money for other projects. I quite like the Suzuki 850,but its your call to decide what to do with it
Ehi Man! I decided to buy a gs850 watching your vids and with your passion I want to make something like a brat or a bobber, so please finish it and please stare the link of the spares you used Thanks
Depending on the type of sink that is. You should use it to do acid/chemical baths for your stuff. Make something for a quick release for the brain plug. That would have helped when you cleaned your gas tanks.
maddmaxx636 Yeah, might want a location that is a little more ventilated then that laundry facility... and also not sure that stuff should be washed down the drain... I’m sure the label would say.
@@zekemead Of course, He could get a small box fan and put it somewhere (Idk if there is a window near or a door) to get the fumes out. For the braining, That's why I said he could make a brain/quick release for it. Have a valve to drain it all into a special container. Maybe filter and reuse some of it.
Dont put rtv in head gasket. You dont need to do that. And apply some thin grees on new head and side cover gaskets. Its make good bond and easy to remove next time.
You should be using gunk gasket removing spray. That sh!t is amazing. You should re-grind the valves since you have the head off. It only takes an hour.
I have one of the same motorcycles, I want to put it on time, I do it as you show in the video, but the cylinder remains inside, it does not arrive, it is fine, so please clarify my doubts
FINISH THE TS-185! love your vids man🏍️
I love your videos keep up the good work and keep wrenching and we want to see the rest of the 850! Stay gold

The rotary brush paid for itself!
Yes, by all means complete yer video! I'm doing the exact same job on a 1981 GS850L and a 1982 GS1100L. There's no way to get around all the gasket issues etc on these bikes but, its all worth it. They are good running bikes. Good job Gold Guy!
This was a good video i liked that you filmed from the manual step by step ;)

Awesome video man, it gives me some motivation to do a proper restore on my 1993 GS500E.
You have done way better in this than I would do at your age. Keep going!
Dude finish! You have a gift with this. Totally inspiring me to build a bike.
Great video, really like to watch your projects. Cant wait to see the Suzuki GS850 finished.
I enjoy you showing the process with your learning curve included. Saves me from doing the same mistakes;)
The best motocycle youtuber
Always love your videos. Finish EVERYTHING YOU CURRENTLY HAVE before acquiring anything new. I have the same problem. Don’t be like me... LOL!
I'm doing the same project, your video is a great help!
I love seeing your channel grow. It's always entertaining and great content.
Finish it man. Do it for the vine! Greetings from The Netherlands
Love the videos! I’ve learned a lot watching them-Keep up the great work!
Another great video. Long but kept me watching every minute. 👍🏼👍🏼
Finish it bro! Hard bits done. Its a good idea to rotate the engine a few turns then re-check ya timing marks after installing the cams. Looking forward to some more TS vids. Another great vid, keep it up dude

Your Jersey Neighbor
yeah dude, finish it. im so stoked to see i done
Great job mate let's see it done
Love your vids I don't own a bike but will pretty soon thinking bout buying an oldie
Great details in the video. I know how you feel about finishing a job. Working on a cx500 and I've been dragging ass.
Don’t sell that bike After all the work you have done to it keep it and ride the heck out of it
stephen cochran your right man I’m no longer going to sell my bikes as I go either
Just keep em an enjoy them
Always watching your vids man finish that motorcycle
Nice vid goldguy. My guess is not oil left in the bike but the previous ownee simply left the bike idling for hours causing the gaskets to burn up.
awesome job man,the best way to learn is just to get into it and do it.
Are you gonna finish the ti185 now?
Yes
Finish the 850 and trade it man. Great video man!
More vids!
Tip for the future, try acetone on a rough rag for that left over black stuff
I Always use a razor... with quality gaskets no need to worry, perfection optional. Just a clean, old gasket free surface does the trick. Great job
Suzuki GS850!! I have watched all your vedos till here and realy wont to see you finish, :)
Keep it up 👍love your rebuild videos
Nice job well done
Love your vids. Keep up!!
yo man...great job. Keep going!
The newly painted covers look awesome 🔥🔥 I'd say finish the GS850 if you're trying to sell it then you'll have more funds for the next project! 👍
Love your videos, great job 👍
The black accents on the engine look great. Finish it up and do one last motovlog on it before you sell it. I can't wait to see what you will come up with next!
Good work buddy
Can you list off where you got all your parts from such as digital dash, air filters etc
You spent some money on that thing plus some of your own time. Not that you did anything wrong but you coulda got the cylinder and head machined to get rid of the pitted surface and reassemble a perfect fit. Hope to hear that run soon. Great job brother!
Good to see there's still young men out there with testosterone who aren't afraid to tear into something.
Fuck the haters, they're too scared and under skilled to do man shit.
Post more vids man I’m addicted
nice job finish it
Wow nice work and bike
Cool finish it
ive used goo-be-gone before and it seems to work well at getting those old things off. then i use a plastic spatula to not scrape up the surface.
Question?: when you put the aftermarket Pod Filters on, did it bog down any? Also, did you simply just take off the hose running from the top of the engine to the middle of the old air filter?
Love your videos man
where did you get the gaskets? Rebuilding the top end on my GS850 and having a hard time finding top end gaskets
I just found a complete gasket kit for a 79 gs850g on Amazon if ur still looking .
Finish this bike! Good yob man.

Depending on which roloc bristle disc you use and how aggressive you are damage can definitely be done to aluminum.
Thanks for another video. Enjoy watching. Don't think you arre supposed to apply any gasket helper to a head gasket. Do more classic Hondas. Keep it gold.
Where did you get the rebuild kit for it I cant find any for mine
CRC Gasket Remover is the only chemical that works on those old gaskets. Also the Roloc will damage the gasket surface if you get too crazy with it or hold it at an angle to the surface.
New shop? 🙃 Nice work dude!
See my KZ 750B I just finished. I am about to start my 79' GS850G Project.
You should finish the 850. I would say keep the 850 so you have a nice bike to ride on the street and mild offroad, and sell the TS-185, but it might not be the best. We want more ts185 vids
Next week!
ps. when sanding a head try to use a slab of glass because its the only thing that u can be sure is absolutely straight
Keep going brotha❤
So - how did the re-seal of the GS850 engine go?
It never leaked oil again after I did that so I guess it went well!
finish the 850! im thinking of buying one.is it hard to sell yours after the work you put in? what do you think of the 850?
AWESOME bike SUZUKI #1 !!!
Ehi Man! I decided to buy a gs850 watching your vids and with your passion I want to make something like a brat or a bobber, so please finish it and please stare the link of the spares you used
Thanks
Finish it !! come on Finish the TS 185.. for us across the pond.. regards... from London UK..
Come on you can do this finish this suzuki gs850. You doing a really awesome work
Finish the 850, I have one just like it and I wanna see how it goes
Hi what grade Roloc brissle disc is the yellow?
Awesome. But. Never use any dressing on s head gasket. The only thing that you should use is a spray in copper coat. I hope it does not fail
Finest bike

Next week!
Can’t wait!!
Great video as always, but what’s up with the TS185?
It is next on my list!
Dont put rtv in head gasket. You dont need to do that. And apply some thin grees on new head and side cover gaskets. Its make good bond and easy to remove next time.
Finish the TS185 man, that would be great. Keep up the good vids.
Finish the GS850!
