    *IMPORTANT NOTE*
    Weapons are only available on the G91, when the aircraft is purchased outside of the MSFS Marketplace / through a 3rd party provider (Microsoft does not allow any aircraft featuring munitions, to be sold via the Marketplace).

      Wouldn’t that be nice! I imagine in due course Just Flight might bring their version to the sim. I’ve long been after a Hunter or some type of old British jet in DCS as well, but British jets seem to get no love over there unfortunately. . .
      I don’t know if you’ve seen, but I have a little Mach Loop series running on the channel. EE Lightning has been covered, I plan to do the Hunter and a host of other classic British aircraft in due course. Might be of interest : )

    Regarding the brakes, the issue is that the Autobrakes setting in the config is ON when it should be off. Here is the way to fix it: G.91 folder should be in the FS2020 Community folder. Inside the simskunkworks-aircraft-g91 folder, open the folders Simobjects/Airplanes/simskunkworks-aircraft-g91. Once there, look for and open the systems.cfg file in Notepad. Look for the following entry and change the auto_brakes from 3 to 0:
    [BRAKES]
    auto_brakes = 0 ; This value is the number of "positive" settings, not including OFF. '0' means NO AutoBrake
    hydraulic_system_scalar = 1 ; On brakes dependant on the hydraulic system, ratio hyd system to max brake hyd pressure
    This will also provide a smoother landing touchdown.

      Thanks very much for the great info! : )
      I found that cycling the park brake also sorted the issue, but it’s good to have a proper and more permanent fix! I’m sure it’ll get patched in the next update as well.

    Can anyone confirm, if changing the loadout changes the plane parameters? For example, if there is an extra fuel pod, you can extend your max range in the game by adding it.

    • @Magicmarker231
      @Magicmarker231 3 года назад +1

      I can confirm that. You can fill the tanks in the loadout app. They add drag to the plane and unlike the weapons they cannot be dropped (until next update).

    • @IntotheBlueSimulations
      @IntotheBlueSimulations  3 года назад +2

      I haven’t had a chance to look into whether they actually extend your range (though that seems to be confirmed by the other poster), but they definitely effect the aircrafts handling characteristics yes : )

    Bought the plane also, it doesn't feel realistic, fly high, throttle down complete , flaps down, gear down, speed brake enabled and pull the elevator, it will not stall, just drop the nose about 10-15°. i was sinking with 80-90 knots no problem. the brake bug is annoying, doing a nice landing and it feels like you took off with parking brake on. the roll rate is also extremely high, the plane feels very twitchy, also when flying circles, its like jumping through the curve. patch needed!

      Ah nice . Great to hear the opinion of someone who has flown the Fiat-Aeritalia G-91 in real life .

    • @IntotheBlueSimulations

      Hi Gary,
      Agreed a patch at some point would be good, I expect we’ll get one. Just for interests sake, I tried some of the same tests as you. Stall-wise, agreed. The aircraft doesn’t really stall properly, however, I did just about manage to get it into a spin (that was very easy to recover from), so it’s not completely devoid of realism at low speed. I would say the issue here is as much with the sim as anything else. No aircraft in the sim behave very well at the edges of the flight envelope currently.
      Brake bug is very annoying. There’s an issue with the aircrafts config file, autobrake is set on by default. Again, hopefully this will be patched, I can send you the details of how to fix it yourself if you like though?
      Roll rate is high, but I don’t think it’s a million miles off (again just comparing with the DCS Sabre), could probably do with toning down a bit though I agree (though for all I know, it may in fact be accurate).
      It does feel a little twitchy to fly, but personally I actually quite like how it feels, especially once you’ve got some speed up. Again though, possibly a little tweaking to smooth things out a little wouldn’t go amiss.
      I’m afraid I didn’t quite understand your last point?
      Again, hopefully we will get a patch, I know the developers are still working on it (internal sounds coming I believe for example).
      Thanks for sharing your feedback : )

      @@IntotheBlueSimulations thanks for the reply. I really like the jet, but what i said is kinda annoying sometimes. I also had a spin with another jet, guess it was the mb-339 or the f-15, not sure right now and it recovered also easy. i mean when you fly a curve and pull on the elevator, it does not go smooth through it, feels like small jumps , maybe it is part of the twitchyness. i didn't understand, why people critisise my complains it's just what i found and thought it should be adressed, but that is internet, thanks for your answer :=)

      @IntotheBlueSimulations  3 года назад

      Yes, it definitely has some things that need tweaking, improving or fixing. I suspect most of them will be though. Again, I suspect some things need improvement in the sim itself, rather than the aircraft specifically. I know SSW are still working on the G91, so hopefully we’ll see some improvements soon : )
      Ah, I see what you mean. Yes, as I mentioned in the review, I find the elevator control to be a bit twitchy at the moment (whereas roll and yaw are nice and smooth). I don’t know if this is accurate or not, but I suspect probably not.

      Are you running DX12 (as opposed to DX11)? That’s been causing crashes with quite a few addons more recently. Otherwise, I’m not too sure what might be causing the crashes but on a positive note, apparently the aircraft is soon to be updated to V3, so hopefully that might fix up any CTD issues in the process.

    Great review and excellent video! I purchased this add-on after watching your review, and have no regrets whatsoever. It's an awesome aircraft and is already one of my favorites.
    Also, just a quick note about your comment regarding missing sounds in the cockpit. According to the hints file included with the aircraft, the following is an explanation for the missing sounds:
    "LEGACY SOUNDS
    - Due to copyright issues we cannot distribute WWISE sound packages, so external sounds are legacy, internals sound absent.
    - Soon will publish a free add-on package with native WWISE sounds."

    The Fiat g91 has many bugs, the first one is the gauge of artificial horizon, if you do a left bank the bank indicator should indicates on the left the degrees of bank, instead indicates on the right and viceversa, I'm a real pilot and all airplanes works like that.
    Second the landing gear doesn't move if you click with the mouse the stick but only if you click the panel behind it, and normally in fs2020 you can move the landing gear just using the mouse wheel.
    Then the maneuverability in rolling is weird, it moves accellerating in rolling that makes it unstable, in pitch is so terrible to maintain, and the engine works bad like you have a propeller.
    Another thing is that if you move the flap you won't see it on the cockpit, so you cannot understand the position of the flap.
    I tried the Aermacci and the F16, and they're working fine and very smoothly.

    • @IntotheBlueSimulations
      @IntotheBlueSimulations  2 года назад

      Thanks for the info WTME,
      I wonder if some of those bugs haven’t crept in due to sim updates; I don’t recall the G-91 having too many issues at the time (not the ones you mention anyway). The artificial horizon I may have missed (bad of me if I did!) and I always use a keybind for raising / lowering the gear to be fair (so wouldn’t have noticed that).
      As far as the aircrafts handling goes - I thought it flew quite nicely at the time, but again things may have changed since it was released. If it’s really uncontrollable, always worth looking / checking to see whether you have the sim’s flight model set to “Modern” as opposed to “Legacy”?
      The flap situation may or may not be accurate to the real-world aircraft. Usually Sim Skunk Works are pretty good when it comes to cockpit detail, so if there’s no flap gauge, that *might* be realistic (although if I recall correctly, I think there is a flap gauge on the G-91?).
      Either way, sorry you aren’t having a great time with the aircraft. Whether that’s bugs caused by updates, or otherwise, it’s not ideal.
      All the best!

      @@IntotheBlueSimulations i have changed and tried everything, i use fs2020 since the first day it came out, so i solved all the bugs until now, i know all the bugs or developers mistakes in that sim, anyway it's the plane for sure, i found even that the g91 was bank on the left no touching anything, so i discovered that from default the airplane when you start the flight it has the rudder left trim activated, so i found the button in the cockpit and deactivated, it turn on in any flight making the g91 not maneuverable.
      FYI I use fs2020 with expensive simulator hardware and in VR, i fly on fs2020 turn off all the assistance, making fs2020 very difficult to use, but of course i do that because i need to have a realistic simulation otherwise i cannot use for my training, i use to fly in VFR making the routes and calculations using a real aeronautical chart without any help, so i fly in a professional way, I'm not using fs2020 as a game.

      That’s very odd. I’m afraid I have no idea what might be causing that. Is the engine still running when you pull the power all the way back? I wonder if your controller bindings / setup isn’t triggering a fuel cut-off or something?

      Hi Nelson,
      If memory serves me correctly, that’s due to the canopy not being locked. By default, when loading the aircraft, the canopy will be closed, but not locked. I seem to recall the locking handle is either on the left, front, lower side of the canopy frame, or down on the left, forward, main panel.

      @IntotheBlueSimulations  3 года назад

      Haha great, glad we got you sorted on that one!
      Hmm, well it’s probably the same issue as with the canopy really. By default, even if you start with the engine running, the aircraft is not configured ready for flight. You will need to turn on the inverter, hydraulics, JPTL etc (if I remember correctly). I would suggest watching through the startup process in this video and making sure you’re aircraft is configured in the same fashion - the systems should all be working correctly then : )

    • @IntotheBlueSimulations
      @IntotheBlueSimulations  Год назад +1

      Hi David,
      Sim Skunk Works aircraft are a little bit trickier to recommend these days, sadly. I haven’t flown the G-91 in some time, so can’t attest as to the state of that, but the F-104 has some issues (namely the afterburner drops out above 10,000ft) and these don’t seem to have been addressed by the dev in some time. In fact, SSW seem have been rather “radio silent” of late, so I’m wondering whether the products will see any further support. . .
      I hope that helps answer your question somewhat. Great news that the console finally has the WASM fix, I hope you’ll enjoy some of the new addons making their way over!

      It is a real shame to be honest. I don’t know what happened - SSW have been making pretty high quality addons for years. Maybe they’re just taking some downtime and they’ll be back. . .
      That’s actually a really good video idea and I was about to jump on it haha, but then I realised I’d have to install a whole host of older / unused addons (and fully test each of them again). Unfortunately I just don’t have the time for that at the moment, but one would hope that any addons making it over to the console, would have been updated accordingly by the developers. . .
      The Corsair is excellent and well worth waiting for. It does have some issues with its flight model at the moment, but MILVIZ are working on an update as we speak : )

      Yeah, it’s a solid product already. I sort of knew it would be, having owned SSW products in the past. Always felt they go a little under the radar as a developer, given the quality of their products. As you say, most of the issues should be easy fixes (I’ve already had some contact me with a fix for the brakes) and apparently a sound update is on the way (it just had to be provided separately for legal reasons apparently).
      I have no issues with a product having minor bugs, as long as a developer is willing to fix them. It’s great to hear the SSW team are taking feedback onboard etc (again, having dealt with them myself in the past, they were very helpful).

      Ooo, that’s a tough one David!
      I haven’t tried the F15 or the Eurofighter personally, but I think we can say they aren’t currently great offerings anyway. .
      Really for me, it’s between the MB339 and the Fiat G91. As of now, the MB339 is the more complete and polished product. The G91 still needs a few fixes here and there, but I believe they are on the way. For my money though, as far as the flight experience goes, the G91 can’t be beat (in MSFS). The MB339 is great fun, but just doesn’t have the “oomph” that the G91 does. The MB339 feels like a trainer and the G91 feel like a fighter (surprise surprise I know haha).
      If you want a good all-rounder, I would probably recommend the MB339. If you want a jet to have fun in, fly low level, offer a bit of a challenge etc, I would choose the G91 personally.
      Sorry it’s a bit non-committal. Always tricky to answer these types of questions! Hope it helps : )

      Hi Lionel,
      Sorry to hear that. I’m afraid I haven’t been able to try it with a controller personally. The aircraft is generally quite sensitive and susceptible to upsets with abrupt / large control inputs. I suspect that an Xbox controller exacerbates this unfortunately.
      I’m not sure that there is an “fix” specifically, but I imagine playing around with the controller sensitivities would be the only way of minimising the issue. I know it’s not an ideal solution though. That’s all I can think of really. Sorry I can’t be of more help. . .

      Hi Rafael,
      Unfortunately you are correct. As the addon is not on the MSFS store currently, if you buy it externally, you will have to manually update it. So yes, it could get a little bit annoying keeping it up to date.
      I believe (like most addons) the developers are ultimately looking to introduce it to the MSFS store, but this process seems to often lag about 1-3 months behind the product being released elsewhere. Worth waiting in my opinion.
      Ideally I would only purchase through the MSFS store, but with reviews etc, I tend to purchase as and when it becomes available.
      Hope that helps : )

      That’s a shame to hear regarding the flight model, but I can’t say I’m too surprised. As you say, MSFS is still currently missing some of the fundamentals, to really create simulation-quality flight models (I think). I’m also not sure that Sim Skunk Works aim to produce aircraft, that would be considered accurate by those that actually flew them. Again though, it’s a shame that the flight model isn’t a little more representative of the real world aircraft (we’d all enjoy it more if it was I’m sure). I gather there is a G-91 in development for DCS; it’s possible that might be a more enjoyable option for you, as DCS generally has far superior flight modelling versus MSFS.

From memory, turning on the hydraulics is one of the things you have to do. That would be my initial guess (that perhaps the hydraulics system is not turned on?). When you say uncontrollable, do you mean they literally don’t work, or just that the aircraft is very difficult to fly? I believe not David. There is ADF and what they term a “PHI” (Position and Homing Indicator I believe).
      The PHI can be used a little like a VOR. Essentially you program in your route (max of 5 waypoints) and it will give you your bearing and distance to the selected waypoint.
      To program the route though, you have to edit a document in the aircrafts folder, for each flight you want to make. A little user unfriendly. You can save multiple flight plans and load the one you want though. It’s fiddly, but I suppose it’s somewhat realistic, as presumably some sort of data cartridge etc would have been loaded before the flight.

      That’s very strange / annoying. Not sure what would be causing that. SSW actually just brought out a major update to the G91. Might be worth downloading and giving that a try, if you haven’t done so already?

      Hmm, that is strange then. My hunch would be a possible control binding issue? It’s only this aircraft that is affected?
      I’m running the updated G91 as well, not experiencing the same issue on my end.

      You have the generator and inverters on etc (I know by default these are not on when the aircraft loads on the runway)?

    Nice review as always! Love this plane despite the few bugs. The Fiat G91 was used by the Italian aerobatics team “Frecce Tricolore” before the Aermacchi MB-339 took its place.

      Thanks Andrea! : )
      Yeah, it’s a great aircraft as it is, I’ve flown it everyday since I purchased, very enjoyable! If they can just give us some internal sounds (which I believe are coming) and a few minor fixes, it will be a very solid product, especially for the price!
      Ahh, is that so? I didn’t actually know the Frecce Tricolore used it. When I think of them, I can only think of the MB339 hehe. It’s funny how many addons for the sim have been Italian aircraft so far, just occurred to me the other day. . .
      All the best!

      @@IntotheBlueSimulations I have a decommissioned Fiat G91 (PAN version) at like 200m from my Italian house and it's has got "Freccie Tricolore" livery, very close to the one on the PAN MB-339. Yeah, it’s a tough call between the MB339 and the G91! I think the MB339 is more “pleasant” to fly, but the G91 is perhaps just a little more “fun”, with its higher speed etc. I’m still missing not having any internal sounds in the G91, but once we get those, I think the G91 might just be my winner; which is impressive as the MB339 is already excellent! : )

      Hi Carlos,
      You might want to try a reinstall. I’ve had no problems with the landing gear or clicking any of the switches (that are modelled).
      Are you using a Honeycomb yoke by any chance? I believe that causes some conflicts with the aircraft.

      Someone else posted a vid on how it’s done:
      ruclips.net/video/gZA3p3QbNAo/видео.html
      But essentially, you arm the plane up, un-guard the “bomb release” switch (I think it’s called) on the lower left panel (one of the big red guarded switches) and then you need to press whatever key etc you have assigned to “water rudder up and down” in the sim controls.
      When you hit the the water rudder key, the bombs will come off the rack.

      No, it’s not currently available in the sim I’m afraid. As far as I could tell, it’s only available from Simmarket at the moment. Not sure whether there are plans to bring it to the in-game Marketplace or not. . .
      Seems almost everyone has one issue or another with MSFS unfortunately. I’ve been pretty lucky overall, but still had the odd peculiarity pop up here and there. Hopefully as time goes on, all these things will get sorted.

      @@IntotheBlueSimulations I fond the problem on my sym as they say in the computer world the issue was between the seat and the key board lol so not an issue just me.
      Just a quick question is the reason they are not able to fly at mac speed due to the mapping just cant render quick enough even the MB 339 at full speed at low level seems to beat the mapping.

    • @IntotheBlueSimulations
      @IntotheBlueSimulations  3 года назад

      Hahaha, that’s not an expression I’ve heard before, but it’s one I’ll definitely be using in future! : P
      I believe it’s actually a flight modelling issue rather than anything else. Essentially the aerodynamics for supersonic flight haven’t been modelled into the sim yet. Quite what this means in terms of how the aircraft react I don’t know. From what I’ve read (and I could be wrong here), it seems the F15 is incapable of supersonic flight in the sim, the Eurofighter can do it (but I guess the flight dynamics might be all dodgy). Either way, it’s not really a viable option at the moment. I think an aerodynamics update for the sim is due “soonish” though
      All the best
