- Today I'm finally sharing my cape! I made the Nell Cape (Style Arc) in December for the sew-along on my Patreon page (Orchid tier). You'll see a summary of the SAL that'll include lots of practical sewing footage during the sewing process. It's an interesting project for sure!
I'm also sharing my thoughts on a brand like this that has a list for instructions and does not aim to teach any sewing.

It looks wonderful and gorgeous on you, and you taught us how to make it look perfect on the inside as the outside. Thank you. I so enjoy your videos and have learned so much from you. Take care and have a good day.
This cape is totally awesome and very neat looking. You are so talented. This is a way above my skill level.❤️❤️
You’ll get there. There was nothing hard. It just took a few days :)
Great video. Definitely a must see for anyone wanting to make this cape since, as you point out, Style Arc instructions are so limited. Your cape is fabulous.
What an interesting pattern
I completely agree with you. I won't buy their patterns anymore because I think their instructions are appalling! Another beautiful make!
I keep buying because I like the styles. Usually different to all the rest. That does not mean I’m super satisfied 😬
That’s so thoughtful of you Georgia, Thanks for your positive review,How are you and how’s the weather over there?
“I’m not about the print-clashing life.” 😅😂🤣
Lol. I just can’t.
I like the idea of lining the cape. In order to do this I would sew both fabrics as one and bind the edges as per the pattern.
I wouldn’t do that. It’s bulky as it is already. I’m not a fan of that method. The seams would pull and not press flat. But that’s just me. I’ve done what you say before and was not happy.
Excited about sewing myself a cape soon
I have had my eye on this pattern for a very long time. I suppose you could line with both pieces together that act as one and then bind. It would be a big extra step basing it all together first. Some thing to think about for another long time.
I like it very much but this pattern is out of my comfort zone . Really like the updates to their patterns like tiles .
Thank you. They have improved some aspects. The lists stay the same though.
Beautiful! I really like how fitted it is while still very much a cape. But holy binding, Batman...! Definitely not for a beginner like me.
Beautiful cape!!
Thank you! 😊
That’s so thoughtful of you, Thanks for your positive review,How are you and how’s the weather over there?
Wow! That’s beautiful ❤ such a great job Karina!
Your cape is gorgeous! I don't like having more than one layer of sleeves over my arms, so I really enjoy a good cape, hood, wrap and/or poncho in the cooler weather. I had picked out this one and Vogue V1818 as a more casual option, but second thoughts now because I would like it lined. I'll start with the Vogue pattern and worry about this one later. Thanks Karina.
WOW! Karina that is gorgeous. All that binding just makes the cape look amazing. Beautifully made. 💐
I’m sure Style Arc would appreciate your comments about the mistakes in the pattern. I don’t think I’m skilled enough to tackle one of their patterns. Beautiful cape. 😊
I find it difficult to communicate with them. I’ve never heard back when I have.
Well, at least you tried.
You have helped me so much. I appreciate you!
I would love to sew this cape, but it seems too laborious! You are so talented, and I enjoy all of your videos!🇨🇦
It really was laborious. The linen bias tape did make it easier though. It was easy to manage.
What a great style.
Stunning Karina! You are really talented 👏🏻👏🏻

So beautiful, I had to share this !!
Thanks for sharing!!
Gorgeous. Great fabric.
Thank you! 😊
I have this pattern but a little afraid to start it. So glad you did this on your channel. The cape looks fantastic on you. I love the look on you.
You can do it. Take it slow and you’ll be able to do it.
Beautiful cape! Looks great on you!
Thank you so much!
That’s so thoughtful of you Roberta, Thanks for your positive review,How are you and how’s the weather over there?
The cape looks amazing! It’s so classy, dramatic and flattering. Which marking tool did you use? It showed up well. Also your floral top is very pretty - gorgeous fabric.
My basic yellow colouring pencil dipped in water 😂.
I didn’t know you have a pattern sew along each month! I have to sign up!
Yup. I give three options and it goes to a poll for voting on the orchid tier. I have lots of sewalong s on the platform already (more than 3 years).
I will join tomorrow.
I just signed up and I plan to start my Nell cape this weekend. I love the look of this pattern but I need the handholding of someone who can sew it.
@@karen-zb7pu yay! I do film everything in detail and I hope you enjoy your process :)
Oooo Karina, this cape is so YOU! Very classy & sophisticated. Beautiful work. Wear it proudly.
One question. How do you know how much linen to buy for making your binding?
I don’t really know. I eyeballed it and bought 1 meter. I had a lot left over and that’s fine because black tape will always be handy.
That’s so thoughtful of you Helen, Thanks for your positive review,How are you and how’s the weather over there?
Wonderfully educational as always! On your previous cape review, you showed a Gina Renee cape that you would make longer which would also be my preference. Would just lengthening the front and back pieces be sufficient, as well as the facings if there are any? What else would need to be considered?
Im not 100% sure because I don’t own the pattern and I don’t know how it’s finished or what the pieces are. I really can’t speculate unless I have the pattern in my hands.
So cool!
Inspired!
Thank you so much 😀
That cape is beautiful, but I'd never do it because of all the binding.
That’s so thoughtful of you Diane, Thanks for your positive review,How are you and how’s the weather over there?
Hi, I am new here. I was wondering if you taught how to read a pattern and how to know the size to buy ? Thank you so much
If you are referring to the Big 4 patterns (Mc Calls...), I don't have content around that. I do have content on choosing sizes in general ruclips.net/video/rTsEt1JOWzM/видео.html
@@LiftingPinsandNeedles I am referring to everything you do. You should really have a patreon for people like me who need to learn much more. Thank you

I understand that cape instructions were limited this was important to me but oh well I will do more research on another channel
I did film this in full detail and it’s on my Patreon page. It was a lot of work and my Patreon page is one of the ways I make an income with my work. I doubt you’ll find a full step by step online.
Beautiful job…..but….. I’d have thought it’d be easier?……….lol 🤔😬😩🤣😅🥰❤️
That’s what I thought too :)
