    By the way, it would be really useful if you could add a "mono" option for the iD 4 mk2 interface in the software like the id44 mk2,, because there is software to capture or windows itself that doesnt let you adjust anything of this sort, and i prefer to keep traveling with my laptop with the iD4 and have the iD 44 mk2 in a static place in the main PC.

    I'm a little confused. at 3:38 when talking about bypassing pre-amps, the host mentions that the gain knob on the ID unit does nothing (gain is et in outboard gear) but he then goes on to talk about cranking the gain on the ID unit for more saturation.

    • @Audientworld
      @Audientworld  Год назад +3

      When talking about cranking the pre-amps for saturation, this is just talking about using the inserts in general, rather than just bypassing the pre-amps. I can see why this might be confusing because of the video chapters still being on the 'Bypassing Pre-amps" chapter so I'll see if we can get this fixed

    Great video guys. Quick question: guitar into the audio interface, straight into guitar plugin. How can I send it mono to an external reverb pedal and then back into the interface to a cabinet emulator?

    • @Audientworld
      @Audientworld  4 месяца назад

      You'd want to send the Plug-in's output to output 3 in your DAW and then set this to DAW THRU in the iD mixer app. You can then feed this into a re-amp box to feed your reverb pedal and then feed the output of the pedal into one of the iD's inputs so you can capture the audio with reverb.

  • @cheadlejuice-musicproducti5875

    It would be great to assign the F keys to different levels of a fader, call up presets or apply the dim to headphones. I use "producing level, Mixing Level and mastering level" Having to go open a preset is a little cumbersome. Or you could have a snapshot tab which I think alot of people could find useful

    • @Audientworld
      @Audientworld  3 месяца назад

      No, the Send jacks are direct outputs from the Pre-amp and it's not possible to play audio from your DAW through them. To send audio out of your DAW for hardware inserts, I'd recommend using Line output 3+4 or make use of the ADAT output to add additional output channels to the iD24.

    In pro-tools you have to use the same number input to output, is it possible to use outputs 1-2 to send to a compressor and return through the returns on imput 1-2 and use output 3-4 for the monitors when using inserts in pro-tools for mixing with the iD22 ?

    • @Audientworld
      @Audientworld  Год назад +4

      Hello! Yes, you can adjust outputs 3+4 to be our speaker outputs. In the system panel of the mixer app, simply set outputs 3+4 to Main Mix and Outputs 1+2 to DAW THRU.
      Then in the Mixer Window, pull down the fader for the DAW 1+2 channel and pull up the DAW 3+4 fader to 0dB.
      Finally, set your monitor path in Pro Tools to Outputs 3+4.

    • @Audientworld
      @Audientworld  5 месяцев назад +1

      When you plug a jack into the returns, this breaks the signal path from the Pre-amps/DI to the ADCs and instead, feeds the ADCs from the insert returns. It's not possible to use the pre-amps/DI and the insert returns at the same time.

    Hi, i have an id44 mkii. I am considering expanding my input channels by purchasing a focusrite claret ( which has ADAT). Is it as easy as going ADAT out of the id44 to the ADAT in of the focusrite then checking which is the master through the id software?

    • @Audientworld
      @Audientworld  6 месяцев назад

      Yes, to expand the channels of the iD44 using the Claret, you'd just need to connect an ADAT cable from the Claret optical output to the iD44 optical input, then set the clock source in the iD mixer software to Digi 1 or Digi 2 so the iD44 clocks to the ADAT stream of the Claret and everything stays in Sync.

    Great video! A question: I've been using the inserts on my iD44, to "split" the signal as described in the video, to get one "clean" track of the recording. However, I have been routing it like so: Microphone into input 1, split signal out from the send port of input 1 - but into input 3 or 4, rather than into the insert on channel 2, as described in the video. I have been getting good results from this, but thinking about it now, I guess I have double preamps in that signal chain there. Is it a bad idea to record like this, or?

    • @Audientworld
      @Audientworld  9 месяцев назад +1

      Having the second pre-amp in the chain may introduce a small amount of noise or coloration but if the gain on channel 3/4 is set to minimum, then it'll be so little that you'll not notice a huge difference. I'd recommend trying it both ways and seeing if you can notice a difference but if it works for you then no need to worry!

    Can i use FX Plugins like Reverbs or Delays using my Audio Interface into FX Loop of a tube amp so i don't need to buy external pedals?

    • @Audientworld
      @Audientworld  9 месяцев назад +1

      You can but bear in mind that you'll likely need a Re-amp box to make the volume levels correct and this kind of setup will introduce latency when using larger buffer sizes which can make playing in time tricky.

    I have an external pre, can I send output of my pre into the return of my id22, then use the send on that 1st one out to a compressor, then the compressor into the second insert return and record the same signal one compresed and the other uncompressed?

    • @Audientworld
      @Audientworld  11 месяцев назад +1

      It wouldn't be possible to use the Insert Send to send audio from the Return I'm afraid as the Insert Return is a switching jack. If you wanted to do this, you'd need to plug the output of the External Pre into the line input of the iD22. This wouldn't bypass the pre-amps of the iD22 but provided you keep the gain at minimum, it shouldn't add any significant colouration or noise.
      You can then plug the Compressor input into Insert Send 1 and the output into Insert Return 2, the Dry signal will be on channel 1 and the compressed signal on channel 2

    • @geotungz4050
      @geotungz4050 3 месяца назад

      I used a y splitter on my pre amp output, one from goes to the return on channel one, the second cable routed to the other return, I can record compressed and uncompressed signals simultaneously!

    My Audient id14 mk2 input mixer fader not changing the gain. Either it is down or up same. During adjusting cue mix for better listening voice to the headphone mixer fader dosent effect the gain. Only It is changing from hardware knob. I m using mac. Why this is happening?
    Circuite problem or Farmware problem? I m not happy with this. Is ther any solution?

    • @Audientworld
      @Audientworld  11 месяцев назад

      The faders in the software only affect the monitoring level of the inputs and will not affect the gain of the input. The Pre-amps are fully analog and use analog gain controls so it's not possible to adjust them from the software. This is therefore expected behaviour.

    Can the send/returns work for the guitar DI input as well? If so it would be great to connect my guitar into the interface and use my pedalboard. Also is the signal interrupted if the pedalboard connected to the send/return is off? thank you

    • @Audientworld
      @Audientworld  Год назад +1

      The Inserts will work for the DI input but we wouldn't recommend using the inserts for a guitar pedalboard since the inserts are line-level balanced signals which will be too hot for most guitar pedals. If you did want to do this, you'd need a re-amp box of some kind to drop the signal level.

      Hello there, If you are using a set of headphones with a built in mic, the TRRS jack of the headphones may not quite line up with the TRS jack of the iD4. In this case, we'd recommend a TRRS splitter to separate the headphone and Mic connections and then just plugging the headphone jack in.

But I want to be able to send/return one compressor to both of those inputs before it goes into the DAW. Or would I need to have 2 compressors to affect each mic input? Thanks!
