+Civil Protection Unit Makes sense if you think about it. Take note of the fact that this plays before you face the Gene Worm. The Gene Worm is the Race X bio-weapon who was going to terraform the entirety of the earth had Adrian Shepard not repelled it... and from what we know, all things that make up our world would be altered to the point where it wouldn't exist as that thing anymore... basically all the tree's, animals, humans, buildings and everything on earth would be completely wiped out, or altered to suit Race X. So yeah... It's quite logical that this song has a distressing vibe to it
+Civil Protection Unit I'm honestly not sure which fate is worse.. either become property of a warmongering union or get completely wiped out in a speculatively brutal way. What makes it more interesting is that we never saw the Gene Worm's full body, we literally only saw it's head coming out of the portal, for all we know, the Gene Worm could be a lovecraftian type of creature who's size and capabilities in full power is uncomprehendable to the human mind.
+blueshit199 I'm hoping in Operation Black Mesa they not only use this song but also extend it.... also have it play when the Gene Worm is coming out of the portal instead of the damn elevator ride that cuts off the song right after the 5 second mark.
*FORGET ABOUT FREEMAN! WE ARE CUTTING OUR LOSSES, AND PULLING OUT! ANYONE LEFT DOWN THERE NOW, IS ON HIS OWN! REPEAT: IF YOU WEREN'T ALREADY, YOU ARE NOW-"*
I can't imagine a better song to psych up for a boss fight. It's even more inspiring than Captain Price's monologue at the start of the last level of Modern Warfare 2.
This track is stuck in my brain, randomly playing at times. It really gives off that image of a weary soldier, barely standing and pushing on, after being through hell and back.
The moment when you're fighting against to a giant worm in a facility that abondoned, dead staff, only a few survivors left and they're miles away from you. You destroy it yourself, and you witness the facility explode.
that relatable moment when you get put into an impossible battle against alien life without your knowledge, never recieve your instructions on what to do, wake up when your allies are already retreating, get hunted down by a ruthless B-team that you were never informed would arrive, end up almost all alone with a bunch of people who plan to murder you, disable a nuclear bomb only to see it activated again whilst you’re unable to interfere, defeat an alien god that threatens to assimilate the entire planet, come face to face with a mysterious entity of unknown power, & get imprisoned in a void for an unspecified; likely eternal amount of time
This is my favorite track in the Op4 soundtrack, and it's one of my favorite Half-Life songs period. It can stand alongside the greats like HL1 End Credits Theme and Triage At Dawn.
I really like how this track was recontextualized in Blue Shift. This song prepared you for the end of your journey in OpFor, as despite everything, you salley forth and look ahead. This track fit the theme. In Blue Shift, as this song plays in the middle of your march through Xen, you can't help but feel that Barney is coming to terms with the scale of what he was working under this whole time. A fitting track for this situation, too.
love this song it is totally awesome and i think it should be in the next half life as adrian walks up to gordon and then gives you choice to play either or co-op :D
Just so you all know, if you opt into the beta for Opposing Force on Steam, you can hear all of Opposing Force's soundtrack and turn HD models on or off
Imagine that a zombie is about to jump on gordon, then get hits by a shotgun blast. Shepard then says "in other times would be you being shot, but this is strange times"
Surprisingly this was before they ruined games by being lazy, homeworld remastered comes to mind. The game that was to hard to properly fix so just leave it
i found out this song plays right before the loading screen for final boss, which then makes the song stop playing.... at least these days on the steam version after restoring the original sound track, not sure if it use to on the CD version

well the reason the music is different is because they have to make special cuts and opposing force doesn't have a source engine. this also is the reason opposing force is only $5.00 than $10.00

Ah yes, the song that plays when Adrian Shepard kicks the ass of every single Race X alien still existing.
the fact your comment has no negative replies is a sign everyone agrees with you
Everyone has their own rules
But Adrian shepard rule is to
Kick ass of the black ops xen and race x
