You are the only person I’ve ever seen do a comparison on the dishes at the end and I feel like everyone forgets about that!!! I love that you included that bc that was a HUGE deciding factor! Thank you!
I ditched hello fresh and blue apron for the fact of way to many dishes needed and way to much prep work! I get home chef couple times a month and so far I enjoy it! Price is pretty much the same for all but I liked the Home chef simplicity the best. I have my home chef delivered on Monday’s . You can pick any day of the week for service.
We have used Hello Fresh for 5 months and we learned that they had complicated recipes to extremely fast/easy prep. The recipes were delicious and very healthy and more than adequate portion wise. Lots of interesting international recipes that were very enjoyable. As for clean up We never noticed there were too many bowls, pots, pans, but we are seniors with a dishwasher.i recently got very ill ( can’t stand for long periods) and hubby had no cooking experience-so Hello Fresh with me as a mentor is perfect for us.
Hello fresh gives you a prep time and you dont have a lot of time on some recipes to clean during cooking, if you want to stick to the time it says you be done. Youll burn something.
If you don’t know yet you can change your meal preferences in hello fresh between 8 types of meal settings. I love hello fresh and it teaches you how to really cook food not just mix a few things and call it a meal
With helllofresh the ingredients list seems to specify how much of an ingredient you are meant to use, if it says 1 onion then it's safe to assume you're supposed to use the entire onion. Sometimes they will specify say, 1/2 of a sachet as an ingredient, and then have you split that half a sachet between different parts of the recipe but ultimately you'll end up with half a sachet left over. When it comes to the onion, when it says "halve, peel and thinly slice" I think it means "halve the onion, peel both halves and slice both halves". I don't know about the garlic but for me they've always sent a head of garlic that usually provides a clove or two for all of the recipes that week and then some.
Thanks this was helpful. i was debating which was better hello fresh or home chef as i have been gettng home chef and i like how it comes in the containers with all ingredients included and hardly a mess. So i think i will stick with home chef and the food is actually really good
thank you kindly. i got a gift certificate. one thing you may forget is some people do not like the research the recipes then buy extra "ingredients" and spices are expensive at $8- $ 12 per ,and shopping for 1 person is super expensive ,cause wasted food products at the purchase. the value at $3-4 per is cheaper then frozen which has VERY high sodium, and preservatives.
I really appreciate you taking the time to do this comparison, I also appreciate you not chewing in the microphone like all the other people that did these videos
the "half and peel onion" gets everyone every time lol They're just saying to half it so you can peel it, then slice or chop the *whole* onion. I think the onion was the vegetable most people had trouble cutting on that series on Epicurious hahaha ruclips.net/video/KdD2Vm3pzeo/видео.html maybe that's why they give extra onion details
I've used both services and completely agree with your assessments. The only thing I disagree on is that Home Chef is for beginners. I don't know if at the time of this video that they didn't have different levels to their meals or not but now they have beginner, intermediate, and expert level meals. For the expert meals they take quite a bit more work to complete.
I have been using Hello Fresh for a few months, and it is so true my Kitchen is covered in pots and pans and OMG so much salt and pepper seasoning, but its all good. I enjoy the cooking. I am trying Home Chef in a few weeks, looking forward to the comparison. Thank You for the feedback and info.
@@AshleyVering got my Home Chef yesterday. My choice between Home Chef for Hello Fresh... Home Chef wins. My only dislike is 1 box per meal, and lots of ice packs where Hello Fresh has 2 large iced packs. I like that the meals are separated in a clear bag and as you mentioned in your video less pots and pans to use. Home Chef is my winner.
This video was super helpful!! I signed up for homechef because I suck at grocery shopping I usually go towards the junk more than anything so I’m super excited about starting to cook more and needed others opinions on it
You did a great job with your reviews, I’ve been pondering these meals myself. Thanks for giving me a more informed opinion. Glad your honey enjoyed this, his reactions were honest, thanks again😎
I totally agree with your review of Hello Fresh. It's more prep and way more cleanup than I really want. The food is delicious. I do feel like it's restaurant quality with the layers of flavor. Several times after finishing, we'll say "well that was a great appetizer", so yes I also agree that the portions seem smaller. But in reality it's probably what we should be eating. I also rarely use the salt they say too - way too much and I have learned to adjust the spices, flavor to our liking.
I just started Home Chef, I considered Hello Fresh but I had gotten Every plate for about a year and remembered all the prep! Hello Fresh and Every plate are the same company. So I’m hoping I like home Chef more!😂 I don’t mind some work, I just remembered a lot of 45 minutes to a hour with Evey plate. Looks like Home Chef has a variety of difficulties.
thank you. I was close to ordering it but I dont want to have all those dishes every single night, especially when you have no leftovers. Seems like that makes it expensive. Sometimes I spread leftovers into 3 days.
Jud777 not all recipes require a lot of utensils pots and pans, most of them it says to reuse the same frypan or baking sheet. I cook hello fresh all the time and tonight I use only one pan and one baking sheet. The meal was amazing! You should give hello fresh a try.
@@luzadri9 well thanks Luz, i just got past chemo and cant stand up there that long being on my own but later i probably will try it to get the good ingredients and learn some new recipes. I get those dad gum migraines of the eyes, and it's neon swiggles that start in the right corner of my eye, then fills my entire vision in both eyes. Hate it! Thanks so much for the video. Looks yummy!! I will seriously consider buying this brand because of you! Eat on time, eat enough and avoid noise and that darn bright sunlight.
Very good video and assessment of the two meal kit services. I agreed with most of what you said. I prefer Home Chef for the very reasons you said....less ingredients and less prep as well as less clean up. Hello Fresh has more interesting meals but too much work so I probably won’t rejoin. Seriously thinking about rejoining Home Chef. You said you could cook Home Chef on your own and I guess I could, too but with the meal kit, you have all of the ingredients you need without having to go to the grocery store. And no waste of an ingredient that you buy for one meal but there’s more left that might be wasted.
Nice choice! I’m only 11 but I like watching these vids, maybe in the future I will get home chef, blue apron, or just use my parents homemade recipes!
I have the same issues with my migraines. they are called auras, they are warning signs of a migraine. Great review btw! ive had both but trying to decide which I should stick with.
I have been a subscriber of Home Chef for about six months. Love the meal choices, the oven ready option and good price. While they produce and ship very reliably, the shipper they use Ontrac fails to deliver within two days so product is destroyed and my account is credited. Very frustrating, Home Chef customer service says sorry but problem continues week after week I think I have received maybe only a fourth of my orders. Ironic that Home Chef is loosing a customer because of their shipper Ontrac

From what I can tell they are ocular migraines. It makes me feel better that they’re pretty common! You should absolutely try different services to see what works best for you!
It sounds a little different than what I get. I believe I get aura migranes. It's hard to explain them, but my vision gets distorted in one eye and slowly spreads. Once I get them, I know within an hour or two I will have a migrane. I don't get them often though. Maybe one every year or two.

This is a great review! We’ve tried hello fresh and cancelled. Now we are considering picking it back up or maybe trying home chef.
Hello Fresh was definitely a lot of work! I think you’ll like Home Chef better.
I just recently started both of these services, too! Would love for you to stop by and see my review, too!
Really like the music!
Thank you!
WOW!!!!
Eating while laying in bed? 😂 Don’t make it a habit lol I’ll try Home Chef next week. Thanks!
I almost feel like this simply isn’t a service for you. These honestly seem much more geared towards single guys more than anything. Someone with even a medium amount of cooking experience probably wouldn’t find much use from these.
I totally agree! It is nice to have some different recipes every once in a while, but it’s not something I feel is needed if you’re somewhat experienced.
pretty nice.
your are the chef now..
Sounds like the headache you were having is due to not drinking enough water ... stay hydrated!!!
Thanks for the video. Go coogs!!!
I got the burger also, too greasy.

Pet peeves seen an adult not knowing how to use knife properly to cut food on plate.
Not your husband liking everything 😂 it’s a man thing, I’m so much pickier lol
