Sadu sadu sadu 🙏🙏🙏 Nibbanam paraman sukan Nibbana is the greatest happiness .Seela samadi praggna is the only way to nibbana . Buddhism gives explanation to all universal phenomena . This is the sakyamuni budhas humble and purest way of living Even lord samyak sambuddha went along the roads in india for alms eventhough he was the only son of the king suddodana the ruler of the kindom .But pl dont try to offer money to maha sanga as it is prohibited by lord buddha u can offer money later to the temple trust .

@@gingersutton8240 They are not gathering money, but what the lay people offer. And also monks cant reject what people offer, pick and chose either, there is NO menu for them, it is hard life. According to Buddhist rules for monks, monks cant hold any money, property or any wealth. that is the reason monks depend on the lay and lay people depend on monks for spiritual needs. Buddha never allowed forcefully becoming monks, only on their *own* wish and choice. that is one of the biggest problem children becoming monks even with the wishes by parents. Monk-hood is not privileges or luxury but only a handful of people can do. There are more than 150 rules to follow and more for women, numbers are more than what I said here, check it out. But when you visit countries like Sri Lanka you can see the luxury, privileges they enjoy. Cars, temples, education, politics, protest marches while enjoying the untouchable statues. Monks can't grow food or cook their meals either, but it is a very different world now in the name of "I am a Buddhist Monk" I wish there is prohibition of people under 20 years old to become a monk, to make sanity of the order, not the children who does not know anything about "giving up" yes giving up for the rest of his life.

Lord buddha was reported to have forbidden his monks not to receive money or uncooked grains & not to take any thing not offered to them.
He had also instructed the monks not to go out for alms round when lay people were busy with their daily chores. He had said that one meal a day would be enough for them.
Here in this alms round, buddhist monks are offered money & they accept it. Surprising !

They are not asking for foods .But lay people are waiting to offer alms to maha sanga as they need to collect some merits and transfer that merits to their deseased relatives .Pl try to use respectful words before u upload videos as alms round is respected by all buddhist world .

@@Lajoiebradley Monks tradition began during Buddha's time as mendicants and renunciants who gave up all the worldly belongs and attachments *by their own wishes* and went to forest to find a solutions for our human conditions as domestic, worldly life hinder that, hence they gave up everything and went to the jungle and that is what Buddha promoted, nothing else. They had nothing only the few robes they were wearing, an alms bowl and lived in the forests only came to the villages during rainy season. The never owned temples, dwellings to call theirs or properties, cars, chariots etc. They shave their heads to relinquish their attachments. Now it is a vastly a different story. If you ever happen to visit Sri Lanka you will see the riches of temples, monks and their super luxurious lives when the poor suffer in destitution, You will also see the amount of children in robes, they are *NOT* in their own wishes but parents push them to temples as they are well looked after due to the super privileges they receive and *untouchables and protected no matter whatever they do* They are into politics, universities, in all the protest marches, with all the fancy hair styles. Do not forget the vehicles, and temples they own. You do not have to believe me just go and see. As you see here no one can say even by mistake as such Buddha Dhamma has become, as the ego takes the president over anything else.
If you want to learn the Dhamma, avoid monks or temples, just grab a book and read. Buddha never spoke of rituals, superstition, magic, miracles, but *self realisation* yes self realisation, by oneself, yourself, not what monks say, what the book say, what I say, but on your own. Your world is your own mind, not buddha, me or monks. You do not need to worship statues, trees or holy relics, Buddha never said that or asked. The statues what you see are *NOT* of Buddha but Greek designed ones long time ago, Yes there was an ancient Greek settlement in Gandhara in India and they are the first to show Buddha in statues. You still can see them in museums. That is where the hair on Buddha, some ancient statues have mustache on Buddha faces as they were done by the Greeks. Hence what you see are just statues and ancient Greek art/s. As Buddha said, you do not have to believe anything, just investigate and understand your *own way* Cheers

@@Lajoiebradley Most of the English terms what we commonly use have been invented by Europeans not knowing much about Buddhism, and now they try to correct themselves. And nothing wrong with that as that is what they saw, as much as this is what you saw.
The bowl. They thought monks go and beg for food. Monks are not allowed to grow or cook food (that is why children are very discouraged as they do not have any sense of the real world), it is hard but it is their own decision even as adults. And becoming a monk is NOT a privilege where one can receive or demand. Monks are the holders of the teachings or Dhamma and Buddha also discourage all lay people to become monks as the decision to give up all and becoming monks are hard,, only few can do it. Lay people are lay people. Lay people get or receive teachings from monks (as it is also a duty of monks) and in return lay people offer food to monks. And that is what is happening here, and monks have to serve people in their spiritual needs too. In fact they live on others, maintaining human relationship. Instead of calling a begging bowl, we now call it an *alms bowl*
Lord Buddha is another term. Europeans thought Buddha was a divine inspired 'Lord" as their Lord. Buddha is not divine, he never claimed to be divine, only an *enlightened HUMAN being* hence all humans can achieve enlightenment as he has done by himself and that is what he asked us to do giving us the guidance. No one can get enlightened by offering flowers, worshiping statues, relics or trees. It is just to pay respect ONLY and not to get obsessed in rituals. He is not a magician who can do miracles on our behalf, but that is what most of the temples do. He is just *Buddha* or *Thathagata* or Thus Gone (beyond), or the *Enlightened One* Those are the three correct terms westerner use now in place of 'Lord' Buddha, as he is NOT a Lord. Cheers
