At 12:45 Kalam's father knew that one day Kalam will have his freedom to achieve success and gives him a example to inspire him that a seagull fly alone and without a nest across the sun. He is trying to explain that if to achieve great heights you have to stay away from your home and be alone won't you leave to achieve them, you will. But Kalam's mother was hesitant so to make her realise that Kalam has his own freedom and life ahead Kalam's father say at 12:57 these lines to her.
