I’m 53 and I went natural 4 years ago. I’ll tell you my Mom kept my hair natural until I was 18. Dealing with my own hair was a hassle so permed it when I was an adult.. I have 4c hair that takes a lot of attention knowing how to care for your hair is necessary. The earlier the better. I cry today combing my own hair if I don’t brush it every day. With a perm my hair is down my back and natural I have a fro. I’m good with a fro. Baby girl does not need a cut brush and oil her hair and show get how to maintain her natural is essential every day.

We American blacks put too much emphasis IS put on hair. I have some Nigerian friends and they cut there daughters hair I forgot what age and forgot why but it was a ritual and I think it's humbling. I have 4C and it was hard to style as a child. If short hair were more excepted here in the US for black girls we wouldn't have had to suffer with the straightening combs (I had a perm at 5). Anyway as India Irie says. I am not my hair. Malaika is a beautiful little girl.
As an adult I enjoy more of the interaction with the baby watching her grow into your Beautiful family. There are so many couple videos and reality shows competing they are boring.
