Thats not the murder weapon Andor has, it's the blaster he took from Cyril. Goes hand and hand with the title "The axe forgets". Andor doesn't even know Cyril's name yet he cost him everything and Cyril is obsessing over him. Every plot in this episode touches on this theme.

For someone who loves slow burn movies and shows like The Batman, Dune, Blade Runner 2049, Ozark, and Breaking Bad, I’ve been totally fine with a much slower pace in Star Wars. We can actually enjoy the characters and care about them instead of rush through them and not care about them.

The Batman is my favorite movie of the year, definitely see the comparison. I guess the difference is that The Batman as a film is still watched on one sitting (or can be paused for breaks once it went on streaming). This show would probably be a lot better on binge watch for sure. Or at least watching 3 episodes at a time.

I just feel like in order for the show to succeed it needs to unapologetically target a more mature audience. Problem is they didn't. So most of your Game of Thrones, The Batman, Breaking Bad, Ozark, etc fans have no clue this is a perfect show for them
Those pieces of media are successful cause they marketed correctly for those audiences. Andor did not. Andor barely had any marketing and when it did it mostly targeted the standard Star Wars audience which may not be interested.

I agree completely...but with next to no action we leave episode 5 with still little information on the group. As an example when Andor told the group I'm here for money so now you can't use me as an excuse to back out...that alone was a brilliant scene and could have been back at camp where everyone shared their story with a cup of that none blue milk. We could have flushed all of those people out with loads of information in a wonderful natural scene. Instead it is 5 min of fluff for a tidbit of useful information.

Sounds like you're saying this scene could've happened way back at the camp when they were talking at the campfire.
That's not realistic. Andor's goal is to keep a low profile cause he has a huge bounty for his mistakes. So his main concern is getting money to leave to family and friends before he runs away. He still feels he owes people for helping him. He didn't just tell them cause he felt like opening up. He told them because tensions are too high and he needed to rally them to focus on the mission instead of his allegiances. The initial goal was to blend in as a rebel by revealing little to know information. That didn't work. So this was his option 2. What he said was really well said. The point of all that was realistic tension and dialogue.
Andor sitting around the camp and being open with the rebels isn't realistic. The only reason they were open with him is cause they were trying to get a feel for who he was and where his allegiances lie. Except for the kid. I forget his name. But the kid was just naïve and wanted to believe Andor was all for the cause. You can see he was kind of shocked and disturbed to learn the truth when he did. But nothing much they can do about it now cause they need him for the mission to go right. He's clearly useful.

Some of the original characters, yet... what do they do when they're not in the middle of a conflict? What are their views on things outside of the Rebellion? Personally, I love the pace of Andor. It's never felt slow to me or like they're stringing us along. Every scene has purpose and builds a world that feels so much more believable and tangible than most other star wars shows, at least in my opinion. Personally, i feel like most other star wars (and marvel shows for that matter) jump from thing to thing with little substance, leaving other shows feeling hollow. I love that Andor is not in a rush to get to the next big action sequence or fan service cameo and lets us learn so much about the people living in this world they're creating.

I kinda think those tattoos on Skeen were brands, that he was a slave or something close to it at some point and those were his owners' markings. Or even corporate brands. Having multiple brands would mean he was traded at some point. Neemik seems like he's an idealistic fanatic, or will become one if he survives.

I also love that they're bringing back quite a bit of Legends material, for example, the relatively insignificant scene with Dedra Meero and her assistant reminds me of a scene in a Legends book (I can't remember which one at this point) where some of the main characters of the story are working with New Republic Intelligence to track down someone. They're up very late looking through files, trying to find patterns, and they use caf and caf pills to keep themselves awake. Not sure if they're connected, but the similarities seem pretty high, to me.

This show is not about the raid. Or any other action. This show is about Andor and the rebellion. How it all got started. What it is like to be in a powerless position and go up against a juggernaut. Cause in real life, most everyone in those situations dies. Or has their life ruined. And they have to endure and endure and watch their friends die around them and have no idea if any of it matters. We know how this story ends. Andor dies. And he has no idea at that point if it will have been worth it. We know it was, but he never does. This story is a tragedy. It’s real. That what makes it so good.
