As my time in Grenada wound to a close, I ended my trop with a traditional Grenadian breakfast. Come with me on one last food adventure on the Spice Island, Grenada!

FRIDAY BAR: Here, I met up with Brian, who prepared fried jack fish, fried tuna roe, farine shark, salad, and fried oil down breadfruit & dumplings for us. It was a true Grenadian breakfast. The crispy fried fish was amazing, and I loved the shark and bake!
WEST INDIES BEER COMPANY: Here, I toured their facility with their brewmaster, Robbie, and tried a flight of four of their best beers: The Black Rock, the Hawk Belgian tripel, their Winward IPA, and Humdinger lager. The Hawk was very light, while the Winward and Humdinger were tropical and easy to drink. My favorite was the Black Rock dark IPA!

There's actually a shared etymology. Grenade comes from a French word that means pomegranate. When they invented the early small, hand-held explosive, it resembled a pomegranate - grenade - so they called it a grenade. Granada is the Spanish transliteration of the French word and basically means the same thing. Grenada is named after Granada in Spain, which in turn is named after the fruit. So by etymology the pomegranate should be the national fruit. Also, given Grenada's history of conflict, it's a bit fitting that it shares its name with a hand-held explosive device.

Hi David....Happy Sunday to you hope you're having a nice day....The Friday Bar seema like a really relaxing place ...like the view ...seeing the planes and the chef did some really good meals there...the breadfruit ....bake and shark...different to ours in T/T but looks delicious too and the fry/dry....very popular in the islands ...with your hot sauce great combo. Good morning David. Well you can't seem to get away from natural viagara, aphrodisiacs, and all those under-the-counter drinks. He didn't actually say what was in the sanitizer drink though. I have seen and learned something new as an alternative to bake and shark and salted fish buljol, albeit deconstructed. I can only imagine how it tasted. To me, that breakfast looked like a morning-after hang-over meal.😜😋🤣. All that beer, I decline to comment on because I don't drink, but I remember mixing condensed milk in stout/Guinness to make a tasty drink. BTW Guinness and stout are the same. Guinness is the name of the man who developed it. Just a fun fact. So Grenada is turning out to be more than the spice island. The people, as with us Islanders, are very friendly and welcoming and good cooks too. Even the goat likes you too meh, meh. It's so clean and well kept. I loved the ambience and restaurants themselves where you can just sit back and relax. I know that some of these series are hard work but you and Nathan make them look so easy. Well done. I have no ideas what he is making, never heard or seen this before. We eat bake with salt fish or fish cakes, or smoke herring or egg. He must not be a Grenadian because I never heard of this. We use farine in milk or Cucu paw, or ban ban. I don't eat shark 🦈 they are too unclean they ear human.

@@rosalinelowe972 no they don't! Who told you that? Sharks eats humans because they have teeth. Most fishes lives on algae or small fishes but not dead things or humans. Sharks are the scavenger of the sea. I don't eat shark, lobster and shrimp. They are detestable unto me.

That a bad rap for Grenada, it like we are starving and need to save every scrap of food in a country where food is plentifully in supply. Anyways to each it's own. Maybe he has to buy ground provision so he cannot let anything goes to waste; but we who grow and do not have to buy we waste I supposed. We fed breadfruit to the pigs and bananas to the cattle.
