Very true! It is far better to understand and leave the field in early stage if you find it unsuitable for you. This way one can keep him/her self and other shipmates safe. Last thing i want in engine room is an engineer who is a dead weight.
Well being a sailor I can completely agreed and happy that you take this courageous decision on time.. Because if age pass like in my case then it becomes completely trap ..this video is very eye opening for all young youths who just join merchant navy thinking only dollars and visiting countries.. Best wishes for your career ahead.
You have correctly used the word "trapped". It is not because of the cadets. I guess. They are tend to be attracted towards money and all. But I guess it should be responsibility of parents also to know first fully what the field is, then also support their child if he wants to transition his career. Already our generation is too much confused because of too much resources.
What options are available for someone who has spent 25+ years in Merchant Navy and is currently a Captain? What kind of onshore jobs can he aspire for?
I too cleared my exam and got selected in Synergy & signed off a month back from my first ship which was a chemical tanker. Guess what while I was onboard I too made a decision that I would be switching to another field. This Sealife pays a lot but takes much more sacrifices in the long run.
Just imagine the amount of hard earned money of your parents you wasted along with your precious time. Now just concentrate on the profession you like and excel in that and return the money your parents paid for your education. All the best 👍👍👍 Good decision taken early on time.
I really liked how honesty u portrayed your story except one part where you said who dreams of oiling and greasing,dear friend I must tell you there are many who dream of this job.As per me ,No profession is bad or good it's just every person is born for a different purpose in life ..I hope you get it.
Ya, I understand you. Probably you are right. I shouldn’t have said that. However, 1. Oil and greasing is a metaphor for the physical work. Everyone knows that engineers are not hired just for this. 2. Well just because many people dream about this doesnt mean it is not right or wrong. I try to take one stand, I do not try to be neutral. 3. I could’ve edited that part, put its suppose to be candid and I kept it as raw as possible, showing the person I am and view I have without any filter. You may disagree, I may be wrong. But its ultimately me.

I do not think I will spend my 2-3 years to forcefully like something that I don't see my future in. In the beginning nobody likes shipping its same for all. U need to spend some time at least 2-3 years
I do not think I will spend my 2-3 years to forcefully like something that I don't see my future in. Instead I am someone who would invest those time in learnings something that I see my future in and choose that. Beside I have seen people in this industry from 2 to 20 years of experience that are not happy. So, It is just a personal opinion and so the title says "why I left merchant navy" not why everyone should.
@atul sharma ❤️
I am in my 6th year and still thinking of quitting , appreciate people who have done what 99% of Indian seafarers always wanted to do but never could do that.
Synergy preparation please 😊
Pls tell is10th and 12th both counted or there is a option for pcm 10 or 12
Can you be a little clear please.
@@ArupKarmakar98 i want to ask that are the percentage are taken "10 and 12" or we they give option of 10 or 12 in percentage of pcm.
@@infinityishangaming3237 65% in pcm in class 12th as well as 65 % overall. No need for 10th pcms as we don't have pcm in 10th.
@@ArupKarmakar98 can you pls share your journey for merchant Navy
@@infinityishangaming3237 yes sure.. I will.
