- A traditional wet shave experience in historic Art Nouveau barbershop, Antica Barberia Giacalone (Ancient Barber Shop Giacalone) in Genova, Italy.
Situated in the heart of the old quarters maze of alleyways is this authentic old barbershop. Originally opened in 1908 by Emanuele Giacaloneto to serve the local sailors and dock workers. The Art Nouveau interior was completed in the 1920's. The shop remained in the family and open until Giacaloneto's son died.
In 1992 with the assistance and interest of the Italian National Trust, Antica Barberia Giacaloneto was once again opened to the public in its original bygone era and ambiance.

I drive a truck for a living and watch HH videos every night to relax. my friends think that I am mental but it's a great way to enter a state where sleep is possible. I am always jealous of these experiences but say Thank You for showing everyone how great it is to be groomed well.

Yup, unfortunately at the most inopportune time our 2nd camera toppled off the mirror and across the counter which distracted all of us and left the ending a little off!! I edited it a little shorter due to this mishap.

I used to Au Pair in Italy and have walked past this barbershop a few times (visited Italy since for holiday). If / when I go back (after this covid stuff), I will have to visit this shop

Soap and water or any moisturizing agent can be used to shave. You do need a good lather to eliminate razor cuts or burns. Shaving gel or cream contains a lubricant and it also desensitizes the skin. Most people prefer shaving cream but if your out soap and water will suffice. Anything is better than a razor on dry skin.

Excellent video Harry! This wet shaver was a breath of fresh air. Unlike a good handful of some of the other very good barbers who've given you wet shaves, that in my experienced opinion have not lathered you properly; this barber gave you a proper lather to the hilt. His shaving technique may have been a bit ROUGH (lol), but he lathered you right. Thanks for continuing to do these!

That was some of the most pronounced feedback(sound the razor blade makes when cutting the hair)I've ever heard from a professional barber's wet shave. I presume the end result was am incredibly smooth shave.

Hi Chris, thanks for watching a whole bunch of our videos!! :-) Language can be a barrier at times as it not possible (at least for me) to learn enough of every language for each country we have travelled to! Over the years I have gotten pretty good at communicating with the aid of key words, gestures, and sketches which is kinda what we did to arrange and film at this barber shop.

why do most shaving videos I watch its like they half to take half an hour to put shaving cream on
Well, since this comment has been up for a while and nobody has responded, I will answer. The action of the bristles on the brush stimulate the skin helping the whiskers to stand up making for a better shave. I had this demonstrated to me by one of those shaving stores at Disney Springs. I loved the effect so much I went home and ordered a brush and cream and never regretted my purchase.

Why was the focus on the back wall?
There seems to someone or multiple people off camera besides the camera person and they are seemingly making the experience slightly tense or uneasy.

Shaving cream properly worked in as it should be. Those shaves in the States where they just put lather on from those silly Wahl machines and dont even use a brush leave me cold. If you pay for a shave it should be done properly.
The video was great and the backstory about the barbershop was just as great. From now on, if you could, maybe add little story vignettes to all your videos, I think it would really add to the viewing experience. Thanks, Harry!

Many online store in Italy have that sprayer. If you want, check out the site "Rasoigoodfellas", they should have it

Good video. Too bad about the focusing issue with the handheld camera: far too often the background looked sharp and nice while Harry's face in the foreground was blurred out.
Yup, we are trying to work on that a little ... unfortunately, because of how we film we are unable to manually focus and have to rely on the auto-focus which can slip a little times :-(
