This was the best time to fly in my opinion. Everyone was polite and respectful. Miss the 90s. These days I hear lots of unruly passengers. Back then felt like a comfortable haven.❤️
The good ol battleship days :c I didnt fly united at all unfortunately but i do remember thinking "damn these are the coolest livery's out there" (I wonder it would take Scott Kirby, the current CEO of United Airlines to paint an airframe or 2 in the battleship livery
Thanks for the upload of flying United back in the 90s. A loyal United Airlines frequent flyer back in 90s. Via United, I visited Asia frequently. Many former PanAm crews flying the pacific routes acquired by United. I truly enjoyed the professionalism and enthusiasm of all the United employees. Thanks for great memories of flying United Airlines.
Love how the typical day hasn’t changed much. The brace position has changed and is interesting! Also that’s me when I agree to meet later I sleep through it 😅🤣
Looked great back then, I remember as a kid flying in the late 80s and 90s. Was fortunate to fly to the US from Manchester England via Toronto and got to fly with USAir DC-9 and once with Delta when they launched Manchester in 1991 to Cleveland via Atlanta and it was on a brand new 767-300 back then , ATL to CLE was 737-200 but only drinks service on that flight. Got to fly United to SFO from LHR on a brand new 777 in 2000 and United served free alcohol back then and the food was quite nice too
They will definitely not allow her to remain unaccounted for since she confirmed that she was starving but didn't meet up with him or answer her phone. Security measures will remain unwritten by me, but I can write that he wouldn't ( especially as the purser ) just go out to dinner and forget all about her until pick-up the next day. No way and not these days.
usually, what did they served to the coach passenger for a domestic flight like this? what normally inside the small blue box they served to the passenger?
I have been through a 3 training centers, Braniff, in Dallas, Continental in Houston and Denver and UAL in Chicago. I know, that's a lot, lol I have to tell you that I would rather got to training in Houston any day, especially in the winter. Howver Denver is a great summer place for training as well. When I went thought training for CAL, they had just merged with Texas International Airlines, We had DC-9 training in HOU and DC-10 training in Denver. It was fun. My training for United in 1986 was of course ORD and it was January. A very miserable winter.....
FA's are trained in IAH and FO's are trained in DEN. Why don't they use the ORD training center? Because Smisek wanted the hub to be IAH... employee protections are worse in IAH than ORD. We still have the training center in ORD ... maybe one day
I’ve never seen flight attendants take a protective brace position when preparing for landing with the exception of emergency landings. Do flight attendants use the brace position when in normal landing?
Hahah that's so me! Always sleeping when we go out on a layover. I rather go to my room and meet everyone in ten minutes otherwise this will happen haha
From Maintenance point of view United Stews not Continental Flight Attendants have attitudes, they Leave there bags in the middle of the Isles in the way of maintenance and the Pilots ( trip hazard) they think they know more about how the Aircraft works than someone who is licensed to maintain the Aircraft and when we are done working on the Aircraft we sign the Maintenance Release , So , the Plane cannot takeoff until we sign off. The flight attendants are not license but carry a certification that only takes 4-5 weeks to obtain. I don’t know how many times , usually the older Stews that complain that something in the cabin like the volume control at a passenger seat is in-op? When I tried to explain that Airbus A320s sound system starts at zero volume unlike the sound system of a Boeing Plane that starts off low, but you can hear sound the Stew replied I am qualified on this Plane I have 15 years with Company ! They reply , “I Know how it works “! But when you try to explain it they huff and walk off the Plane. I have 30 years with the Company , Not all Stews are like this but I could right a book about their behavior.
Old68: We F/As are stuck with the complaining assholes when crap doesn't work in-flight. Plus, sounds like you need help from EAP fixated on a 1990s F/A training video lol.
Ok that bathroom looks like one from the rooms at the EXO Training Hotel Ok they must have found the smartest flight attendants. The ones that came thru my station found it difficult to print off anything on the printer , or signing into Unimatic . Not the sharpest knives in the drawer
I started flying for United in 1968 retired in 2006 it was a fantastic career!

Those seats look incredibly comfortable! They have cushions on them!
Yes they were comfortable back then, even though they were economy seats they felt comfortable and werent as crammed!

6:15 those seats were so incredibly comfortable compared to the slimline ones now.
YES!! It's unbelievable how much less comfortable the seats are today in comparison, especially in domestic first class.
wow that is from 1999, now is 2024 and that´s exactly how my day is, some things never changed
That video could have been shot in ORD yesterday, looks exactly the same.
i remember seeing this video at the United Training Center when it was new in 1999 so funny what you can find
Great piece of UAL history. Thanks for uploading
I remember flying a United flight in the 90s and Flight Attendants sat in that position for take off and landing.
What a perfect flight with perfect people and wonderful united.
“When do we tip the driver? After he brings the bags inside”
MUAHAHAHAHAHA 😂
Boy things did change
I loved United's Flight Attendants especially Uncle & Uncle Pilot hugging them as a Teddy Bear.
Co-pilot Burt Reynolds....the bandit.
Most accurate video about his job!!!
Ahhhh how I love this!
😁👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Kris was pretty amazing on her first flight; I was rubbish haha
Great anime and great soundtrack

Poor Mike. Nobody ended up going to have lobster with him.
Truly one of the biggest tragedies of the 90s

Just after 10:02 you can hear the flaps being lowered in the background lol
Nice catch.
I MISS THE OLD UNITED COLOURS SO BAD BRING BACK THE TULIP!!! MAKE UNITED GREAT AGAIN
Pre 9/11 innocence.
Really enjoying this video, thank you.
1:07-is that how a Flight Attendant is called to duty?(by being informed by the Crew Desk).I thought they are given a Schedule(like a Timetable)
She was obviously on standby
Wait...checking every detail of the safety equipment, WITH manual open??? Is this a fantasy piece???🤣😂
Why doesn’t United use the Chicago training center since merger? The Houston one is smaller isn’t it?

Supposed to
When I was a UA FA from 1995-2005, we did the brace position for takeoff and landing.
Semi brace position for normal takeoffs and landings, full brace position whenever there is a planned emergency landing.
We sat on our hands. A lot of airlines still do this
This was in the 90s
The memories!!❤❤
Interesting stuff
wait, what!? was all a dream?
I'm kinda confused
Where are the happy meals?
I thought Debbie was eating the cat food
I remember watching this in training!!!
Ohare hasn’t changed😂
Omg! 😍

I need 20 minutes...
Good thing flight attendent ps have there tablets. They don’t have to write everything down about a trip
Blonde has holly flax vibes
At 4:52 ..did the Captain say “Burt Reynolds” was the copilot?? …. I almost spit out my coffee🤣🤣🤣
I thought his type rating was in a trans am, not a 737-200! 😂

Well...at least on this UAL video there was no Doctor beat up and draged off the plane with a bloody face.
