Brothers, thank y’all so much for these teachings. They continue to make the Scriptures and God’s grace sweeter and sweeter to me. This edifies and strengthens the church. Thank you!
What about philippians 2 to work out your salvation? 1 Corinthians 3:1-15 only one purpose to do the work, to recieve rewards. Matthew 5:11 again to receive reward in heaven. This theology is good for entry into heaven, but what about the inheritance? Many Christians will be bitterly disappointed upon arrival at the kingdom to only realize that they receive little to no inheritance for they were told not to work. It's still far better than being thrown into the lake of fire at the end for eternity.
So this is great. But seems like they theyre talking about covenant theology and not what it is. I still don't know what covenant theology is. Structure? If there is any.
This is absolutely true. Christ died for us 2000 years ago and at the point when we first believed. Both are the events that had happened in the past. You have been given this new birth. It's important to know that once you have been borne, you can never be unborne. Neither your mother nor Christ can accept that you can somehow be unborne. However, this theology completely forget philippians 2:12-13 that you must work out your salvation with fear and trembling. Paul was revealing another mystery of this covenantal theology that is just as important, if not more relevant to believers. The fact for believers is that this covenant of grace is already the past. It's given and assured. Nothing can change your right to be son of God, that you had come to believed. This is the done deal. But the other mystery Paul revealed is what believers ought to be doing. Granted you had been saved. But now that you had been saved, what are you going to do in the present? Read 1 corinthians 3:1-15 about one purpose why we want to do good work. Paul explicitly said that it's for him to receive the reward in verse 8. Paul used illustration how Christ will test the quality of our work, that is with fire. Paul explicitly made it crystal clear that if our work will be completely burned out, we will suffer loses, but we still enter the kingdom of God, but as one who escape from the flames. This covenantal theology addresses the salvation by grace is 100% correct in regard to God's 100% unconditional forgiveness by grace through faith, this is the gift from God. Not by work otherwise some may boast. To ignore, the other mystery of this new testament of working out your salvation to receive inheritance is just misguided and completely sad. On that day, many Christians will be bitterly disappointed upon arriving at the kingdom of God to realise that they receive little to no inheritance. Well, it's absolutely better than to be thrown into the lake of fire for eternity. We must realize that God gave Abraham unconditional covenant, and gave israelites through Moses conditional covenant of obedience to receive blessing and disobedience to lose all blessings. So God unconditionally saved the israrlites from slavery in Egypt and conditionally saved Joshua and Calab to receive the promised land. The rest didn't enter God's rest. Don't miss out on your inheritance. Covenantal theology is good for something that is already in the past as far as the believers are concerned. You are called to work out your salvation with fear and trembling now for your inheritance. Covenantal theology tells you to drop the balls that are on your hands. Don't drop them. You must strive to finish your race well to receive your good reward. Paul spent more efforts in his teaching to the believers to work hard than this covenantal theology, which all believers had already received. Work out your salvation to receive your inheritance with fear and trembling, as long as it's called today. Therefore, don't stop working. Don't drop the balls. Work harder for your Lord to earn as much inheritance as you possibly could. What is your reward? Matthew 5:1-11. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven (awaiting for you).
Thank you for these series brothers. I am in the Dispensationalist camp but mainly due to the church umbrella of theology that I am a member of. To be honest, I don't even know what the difference is. I started looking into what Covenant Theology is and have been enjoying the series. However, I need a little bit more direction in terms of what I am actually trying to understand in my hermeneutics. I still do not see any differences of explanation of grace and salvation in the OT and NT between the 2 major theological camps. Is covenant theology mainly compiling the biblical truth into the group of Works, Grace and Redemption? Is there a list of books I can dive into?

I’m confused about Genesis 3:15 being your go-to verse proving a Covenant of Grace. Genesis chapter 3 and specifically verse 15 have zero to do with any type of covenant. The word covenant isn’t even used in that chapter. So how do you know there’s a covenant in there? That verse is talking about the consequences of Adam & Eve’s rebellion against what God told them about not eating the forbidden fruit. As a result, they’re all cursed. Part of the curse is placing enmity- a hatred between the woman & Satan. This mutual hatred between them will continue through Eve’s seed, through which whom the Messiah would come. It’s been satan’s mission to destroy the coming Savior ever since that point in history. Thankfully he has failed miserably. We could say Genesis 3:15 is the first alluding to a coming Savior. “He will crush your head” is a prophecy that the seed of Eve will one day crush Satan’s head! To bruise or crush his head means someone in the future will one day Kill Satan. Only one person has the ability to do that- Jesus. We see Satan cast into the bottomless pit in Revelation 20 and Ezekiel 28:16 tells us God will destroy him. Also in Genesis 3:15, bruising His heel is referencing the future wounding & death of Jesus on the cross. Satan will “bruise His heel,” but Jesus will dominate by crushing Satans head. This verse forecasts Gods plan of salvation as soon as sin entered the world through Adam & Eve. The son of God appeared to destroy Satan’s work- 1 John 3:8. So although Genesis 3 and specifically verse 15 are quite significant regarding Gods plans, there is no covenant. Even prominent Covenant Theologian, Dr. Louis Berkhof, admits in his famous book, Systemic Theology, “It must be admitted that the term ‘covenant’ *is not found* in the first three chapters of Genesis, but this is not tantamount to saying that they do not contain the necessary data *for the construction* of a doctrine of the covenant.” In other words, they made it up. Same goes for Covenant of Works. It doesn’t exist in scripture. And to think Ligonier Ministries website devotes a bio of Dr. Berkhof on their website. Another prominent Covenant Theologian, Dr. Charles Hodge states In his book, The Covenant of Works, “This system *does not rest* upon any express declaration of the Scriptures.” No scriptural foundation. 2 Peter 1:20 explicitly says prophecy is not for private interpretation and that’s exactly what Covenant Theology has done. Covenant Theology is eisegesis and that’s not Biblical. You allegorize prophecy and read into scripture what it doesn’t say. There’s a reason Covenant Theology ignores prophetic covenants actually IN the Bible like Genesis 15 and 17. It’s because it’s an unconditional & irrevocable Covenant for Israel in the last days. God tells us in Romans 11:20 not to be arrogant just because God cut Israel off (broke their branch off the tree) due to their unbelief, that doesn’t mean He couldn’t do the same to the Gentiles! I wouldn’t allegorize those verses or you will be cursed by God.
Brothers, thank y’all so much for these teachings. They continue to make the Scriptures and God’s grace sweeter and sweeter to me. This edifies and strengthens the church. Thank you!
Thanks for sharing!

This series helped reformed theology click for me. Thank you 🙏🏽
Thank you for this series. I'm coming out of a charismatic church and having to unlearn and re-learn so much. These are a true blessing.
