get them both at same time if in your budget if not seperate is ok but the plate and handle look awesome! eveyone that rides in your car will comment !
Your video shows the alignment grooves of the shifter handle on the right side and the alignment grooves of the shifter stub also on the right side, resulting in no interface of the alignment grooves. How do you resolve that condition? Can the shifter stub be removed from the shifter assembly and rotated 180 degrees such that the shifter handle alignment grooves on the right mesh directly with the shifter stub grooves on the left? Without that direct interface it seems the shifter would become loose due to engine vibrations. Shown clearly in the video at the 5:20 mark.
Obviously it is a better shifter the only problem that I have with it is that it's meant for a drag strip in a front line with tons of horsepower anywheres from 800 to 1100 power driving it on legal street wit a standard Mustang GT I don't like the way it feels I'm the type of person that has been driving a manual transmission for a long time so I don't need to remind myself let me down shift into 4 and then 3rd and when you have this H shifter it tends to stay in place for instance if you're driving in 2nd gear and you put it into neutral it'll kinda stay in the area of second instead of being dead center in between 3rd and 4th it's just my personal preference other people may like it but for me I'm not a fan of it being so stiff unless you were on a race track obviously so personally myself I wouldn't recommend it for a first time driver of a manual gearbox transmission
I imagine that if you just push it forward a little it would rebound to be in the center. Thats risky tho. I thought it would be a good idea to put on a short throw shifter if I were to T5 convert my Mustang so I wouldnt need to lean forward in my seat to reach some gears. That and maybe a handle extention so the knob is acually further back but with shorter throws.
Guy before me didn't reinstall lower boot and bracket. Bought them from chop, but did the life of me I can't get enough room to get the from bolts in. How did you manage to get those front bolts in?
Those 2 bolts holding the chrome shifter.will come loose.should be tightened using lock tight.prior to installation, mine came loose in a couple days had to take everything out re install.(real pain)shifter itself not really much better than the factory one.Maybe better off just changing the knob to a white round ball and call it a day.
I'm looking at one for '79-'86 on your website, and it also comes with the plastic part that goes around the boot and it looks like it comes with an outer boot. Since it has that, does that mean I won't have to use the stock boot? (I don't really like how high the stock boot comes up)
Quick question. Hopefully someone could help me out. I have a hurst shifter in my 89 notchback but im not really enjoying it and would like the stock look back. Would i be able to put the stock shifter handle back or would i have to replace lower shift boot also?
What's real amazing is that fox body still has the ashtray cover plate in tact
Thanks for the video, you guys did a great job clearly showing how to install without removing the center console.
Good video. Not full of pointless edits or jokes.
I have the competition Hurst shifter , way shorter . With the black ball . It’s period correct back then , I love it still .
The boot and handle kit for the 79-86 is sold separately from the shifter itself but yes it does replace your stock plate and boot.
nice video, bought the shifter from CJPP and installed it using this video. good job!
Jesus how many boots do you need

+lmfar427 Those grooves are on both sides, you can only see one side in the video.

Can you please make a video on how to install a new automatic shifter and boot on the 03 mustang?

is the installation basically the same on a third gen Camaro with a T5? I can use this exact model number shifter right?
Perhaps, Depends on holes in floors
Buddy has an auto 2003. It no longer shifts correctly any good replacements for an auto?

Will these work on a 4 banger fox
Doesnt the 96 GT use the T45? So I would need to use the bracket it comes with?
My shifter boot won't come out. Just wanted to replace the handle.

Is that lower boot sold separately and is it reaaaaalllly needed ?? 🤔🤔
It does help keep noise and heat out and we offer it on our website.
@@cjponyparts I couldn’t find it can you attach a link
Is the installation the same with the longer one you guys offer?
