Greetings everyone, 2 things I want to clarify about this video: 1st: The AnCom flag belongs to a previous member of Pagefire and was included in the video as a joke. The narrator/Andri and current members of this channel does not support Antifa or any extreme leftist organizations. Andri just thought the flag would be fun for the video since Folk Punk is very heavily leftist. edit 2024: to anyone in the replies saying we are right wing, fuck off. We support LGBTQ+, trans rights, gay rights, and basic human rights. We just don't support the flag used in the background. 2nd: It turns out that Chris Clavin, the owner of Plan-It X Records and member of Ghost Mice is an abusive, manipulator who pursued a sexual relationship with a lot of younger people. We were was not aware of this. Andri's research was only limited to the Folk Punk Wikipedia page, a few Reddit posts and listening to the music. Thus we never came across this info until it was brought up in the comment section here, along with the PDF document. (Which I am very grateful for, please don't hesitate to point such things out) I wish I came across this sooner before including several photos of Ghost Mice, his Plan-It X record logo or even playing a Ghost Mice song as a 4 chord example. If we were told this info when making the video/writing the script, Andri would've re-edited the video. We do not condone Chris Clavin's behaviour and the awful things he has said and done and we deeply regret having put him in the video. Even if we didn't know at the time.
Wow, I was coming back to re-watch this because i had such a great laugh the first time around. I actually never knew, any of this. I'm still somewhat new to the Folk Punk genre, and haven't fully invested my time into learning more about the bands, vocalists, etc. This definitely changes my opinion of him drastically.
Another one to look out for is Panucci's Pizza, whose album cover is shown. Lou Diamond of PP (and other projects such as JANK and Fail Better, Heal Faster) is a piece of shit person. For more info: www.reddit.com/r/Emo/comments/6xtoq0/the_truth_about_lou_diamond_why_you_should_not/
Loved the video. It was super spot on. I think it's important to separate the artist from their work. A lot of people are shitty, even if their music is amazing. A work of art is its own entity, with its own contributions to the world independent of its creator. Remember, Ghost Mice songs don't fuck minors, Chris Clavin does. A lot of stuff from Plan-it-x are anthems of my teen years that are very near and dear to me. I just wish I could get them again. I wish I could find "I Like Japanese Hardcore", "Sissies", and other bands that faded away before they could get the rights and put the music on Spotify.

Hey!!! I listen to all those bands! The Pogues is what started me off on the genre, I suppose. That was back at age 16. My very first introduction to punk was much earlier. Dead Kennedys at age 11 and, a personal favorite of mine; Operation Ivy at age 12. Folk at a much younger age. I've been exposed to Bob Dylan and The Grateful Dead for as long as I can remember. Celtic music as well. All thanks to my awesome dad and his collection of thousands of records! lol
Thank you so much for creating such an awesome lil gem of a vid. This brought a goofy smile to my sunken, sallow face. I Googled "folk punk music school" and got this. Perfection, keep up the great work!
Been looking forward to becoming a folk punk (and Midwest emo) artist myself, as I actually do like the genre and the way how it sounds. Recovery Hearts AND Ghost Mice??
You, sir, have earned my subscription.
This opened up a ton of repressed highschool memories of me trying to be a rebel and smoking cigarretes off of the sidewalk. Also made me listen to a bunch of shitty songs I made when I was 16. I can't thank you enough man. Brought back good and bad memories. Gotta learn somehow. Keep up the good work on these videos. They're great and I watch them pretty often.
All thanks to my awesome dad and his collection of thousands of records! lol
3:29 hey i love Misanthropic Drunken Loner too
My breakfast is straight out of the medicine cabinet, a remedy for the aftermath of my habits.
Thank you so much for creating such an awesome lil gem of a vid. This brought a goofy smile to my sunken, sallow face. I Googled "folk punk music school" and got this. Perfection, keep up the great work!
im laughing while rewatching this bc i watched it when it first came out and good job dude, you unintentionaly changed my life
Been looking forward to becoming a folk punk (and Midwest emo) artist myself, as I actually do like the genre and the way how it sounds. It just fits my feel with the campy, woodsy vibe, and I was actually going to make my theme be that way mixed with cryptids. Glad you made this video, man.
(Also 3:56 - fuck yeah, corporate hearts!!! They’re underrated, but they should get more recognition. Their music is incredible.)
Do you like Riot Folk?
@@ppgang1694 I do like some of those bands too; such as days n daze, mischief brew, ramshackle glory (pat), etc.
@@CryptidsCabin fuck yeah
Ideas:
Muderfolk
Pornogrind
Glam metal
Progressive metal
Noisemusic
Definitely pornogrind I can’t imagine it kkkkkkk
2 of those have been done... are you a fuckin wizard!?
Madman Madison yes
This video actually inspired me to write an entire song, don't think it will ever see the light of day, but it was fun to write lol.
"punk is about having GOOD opinions."
Fascinating.
First found this vid a few months ago, made me realize that most of the music i already listened to was folk punk, I just didnt know it yet. It's now one of my favorite genres, and coming back to this video is amazing, cause I get a lot more of the references
maybe.. surely the best yt video i've ever watched
Nice job "Andri the Punkhead". Keep up the good work. If you make another episode I would recommend Pornogrind because the whole idea around it is hilarious
Pornogrind will be the next tutorial. I got the script ready and I will work on it next month.
Wooh!
now I know what this genre is called and now I can make yet another playlist on spotify
“Punk is about having good opinions” 🤣😂👏👏👏
That was actually really good... and a very informative video... I'm glad I quit my job today to watch this video !!!
I'm constantly surprised by the quality of video and content by youtube channels that don't have even 50k subscribers. I don't mean this as an offense. I mean that you should have a lot more people watching your stuff cause it's amazing.
"The Shape of Bagels to Come" by Spook Rat is the only folk punk album anyone needs to listen to
Gothrock or Industrial would be awesoooommeeee ;D
I second this as a goth/noise punk musician.
Jules Black Visual kei would be good too
@@DaisukeKigurou What's Visual Kei? I'm a pleb, I know.
>the formula is (name) (noun)
There's literally a folk punk artist called "(person) (noun)" :DD
Punk is just good moments. Keep the fire alive and sharing energy creativity. And it's good and better that a frozen heart.
I can play very simple songs on guitar and know a few chords but I’m gonna make a point to learn more and eventually learn how to play your song at the end because I love it
