    This is the first time a video for sewing a lining for a vest has made any kind of sense to me. I’ve seen the burrito method a half billion times and I can never figure it out. This actually makes sense. Thank you so much.

    I'm trying to learn pattern drafting at the same time as sewing, and this is exactly what I needed to know how to turn the pattern into a finished piece! Thank you ;-; Beginner friendly without feeling like a slog. Seriously, you're a lifesaver.

    OH MY GOSH! The technique starting at 8:07 to pull the one side through the back opening to sew the one side as a complete circle. GENIUS!! Oh my gosh, that saved so much stress. I have been sewing vests for years and did not know this technique. Saved so much time and stress. Thank you!

    Thank You Sew Very Much!
    I'm a sixty four year old male retiree and I just got into sewing because I saw a series of videos from a channel called 'Tock Custom' and they hypnotized me to the point where I purchased a Singer 44S Heavy Duty Sewing Machine Online! (I'd like to add, "Damn Him, That Thoroughly Convincing Bastard!) I hate to admit that I've been enjoying myself. (Again, "DAMN HIM!!!)
    I ended up sewing my very first garment, which was something I've always wanted since I was a kid, an Inverness Cloak! I was a fan of a television Soap Opera called "Dark Shadows" and one of the characters was a Vampire by the name of Barnabas Collins and he wore a very stylish Inverness Cloak! But that particular style of garment is very expensive and not very available. The one's for sale online seem to start at $700.00!!! The cheap ones for Halloween costumes fall apart too easily. So when I got my machine, I decided that this would be my very first garment!
    (Yeah, No Pressure! Right!)
    I had some black Fleece fabric laying around from a friend's previous project and purchased a few more yards at a local fabric store and what the Hell, I DID IT!!! I actually was able to finish it before Halloween and I wore it for that occasion! Sure, there were some mistakes but I was able to fix or hide them and to my eyes, it came out wonderfully! It was a very cold night but the Fleece kept me warm and toasty and I was complemented for my costume! Yeah! It felt really good!
    So, your vest tutorial came out at just the right time for me because I do like vests or waistcoats as well! I'm starting to look at fabrics for this project right now! It is very satisfying getting to wear what you actually make!
    So, Thank You for the Tutorial and the Inspiration!

    I have been making a vest over the past two days from one of the big 4 and I was so utterly confused on how to sew the main to the lining and turn them inside out. The instructions just did not make sense and had terrible illustrations. Thank you so much for this video! It was a million times more helpful than the instructions and I'm saving it in case I need it again later!

    • @4pcmiknugget852

      That’s exactly why I’m here. The instructions were horribly written, the pictures didn’t make sense, and I sewed too much and couldn’t turn it right side out. This is the first video I found, and I’m ready to tackle it tomorrow after work.

  • @lynnrobinson7221

    Absolutely amazing! Thank you so much. When I tried to follow the instructions on the pattern I ended up with a waistcoat totally inside out - my brain doesn’t work well with lining fabric. I spent an hour unpicking it & another hour following you clear visuals and instructions to complete my waistcoat - the correct way round !!

    Thank you very much, your video save me to fall in despair! I am doing a vest for my brother (cosplaying Loki president) and I bought a Burda pattern, and even though the pattern is really helpful for the size accuracy, instructions for the sewing are minimal and impossible to understand. So I was lost, and without your video I would had no chance to sew it. Thanks!!!

    Thank you so much for this tutorial!! I’m going to be sewing a vest from another pattern I got and they only give written and picture instructions. The vests are pretty much the same except for it is more fitted and I’ll be using fusible interfacing for the whole wrong side rather than just in the button hole area. The pattern I bought only has picture and words step by step. I wish it had a video tutorial. But this tutorial does the trick! I’ve watched it like 5 times so that I’ve got the basics down. I’ll update this comment later when I’m finished.

    I'm contemplating making a lined leather western/motorcycle vest but I'm not used to using a sewing machine although my mother could probably coach me along, she can sew pretty well. How do you think you could do making a lined leather vest?

    • @_Sasa_Time
      @_Sasa_Time  3 года назад

      I'm assuming real leather? It is thicker and less easy to work with, but you can definitely give it a go. It's great that someone can help you when you're stuck. Since leather is not really cheap, you can practice with cheaper fabric first, but that is up to you.

    • @catherinesteph
      @catherinesteph 3 года назад

      I was recently told that for leather fabric - it can be cheaper to look for second hand leather couches in your area (offer up, a local buy nothing group, on the curbs outside of apartments after move out dates etc) - apparently it's a thing to harvest the fabric and toss (or chop and burn) the frame.
