Clownfish Eggs - The Real Finding Nemo

- A pair of saddleback clownfish (Amphiprion polymnus), also known as saddleback anemonefish, tend to their eggs at the dive site Bethlehem, between Caban Island and Marcaban Island near Anilao, Batangas, the Philippines.
Clownfish eggs are laid in a roughly circular patch stuck securely to the reef next to or slightly under the host sea anemone. The female lays the eggs and the male fertilizes them afterwards.
The parents continuously aerate the eggs with their mouths and fins to keep them oxygenated and clean as they grow. Any unhealthy eggs are picked off by the parents. The smaller male clownfish tends to do more of the work while the larger female parent defends the nest and her mate.
The eggs hatch in 7 to 10 days. As they develop the eyes become relatively large compared to the body. These eggs are quite mature and the larval clownfish babies probably hatch from the nest that night.
In the film Finding Nemo, the characters were intended to be a slightly different species: ocellaris clownfish, Amphiprion ocellaris, otherwise known as clown anemonefish.
The sea anemone in this footage is a Haddon's carpet anemone, Stichodactyla haddoni.
I shot this footage at Anilao in the Philippines while diving with Crystal Blue Resort (www.divecbr.com) on their annual Critterfest workshop. Anilao is famous for its small marine life and the opportunities for underwater macro photography and videography.
The video was shot by Nick Hope with a Panasonic GH4 in a Nauticam NA-GH4 housing. I used an Olympus M.Zuiko ED 12-50mm f3.5-6.3 EZ lens.
I have more scuba diving videos and underwater footage on my website at:

There is a simple solution to that: Baracudda

That's for you to find.
It is finding Nemo with other nemos

“We’ll name this half Marlin Jr and then this half Coral Jr. Okay, we’re done”
A pair of saddleback clownfish (Amphiprion polymnus) tend to their eggs at the dive site Bethlehem, near Anilao. The first time I've deliberately filmed clownfish eggs with a macro lens.

When you realize the size of a actual clownfish and a fully grown barracuda, finding nemo dosent make much sense
Indian
i mean, clownfish are large, but big enough to fully fend off a barracuda?
Too bad that didn’t happen to Marlin’s children 😢
The new live action Finding Nemo is looking great!
Yes i see that Muvie NEMO
XD
Incredible! So many little souls staring back at me in the photo!
If you look closely, you can see some older, hatched siblings. Still tiny compared to the parents, however.
Tell me a barracuda won't leave 1 cracked egg...
Ahahahahahaha

Nice Nice video beautiful amazing
The real life Clownfish eggs looks different than in the Finding Nemo movie?
These are actually a different species of clownfish. These are saddleback clownfish (Amphiprion polymnus). The ones in Finding Nemo were supposed to be ocellaris clownfish (Amphiprion ocellaris). Also, the eggs change significantly as they develop. If I remember correctly, in Finding Nemo the eggs were depicted at an earlier stage of development, where eyes etc. cannot be seen.
Wow beautiful.....
And this half will be Marlin jr
XD
KEEP ON SWIMMING NEMO!!!!
And, humans be like: fish don't have brain, so they don't feel the pain. 🙄
Can't you see how both partners are nurturing the eggs? Making sure oxygen is reached to every single egg.
Dumb humans! 😠
Beautiful Creatures..
Amazing....
"We wil name then half marlin junior and this hald coral junior, OK WERE DONE"
Absolutely awesome. Is there any way to encourage breeding or just cross your fingers? I have 4 clowns (3 orange and 1 yellow). One orange is definitely the queen and I think is a true Percula because of her eyes but nobody will mate with her. I think she's too intimidating. She's friendly but she's big. Enough said, I'm so glad I went to saltwater. It's like they have their own little personalities.
10 have gone now 100 please 👍
I give fish information ❤❤
This is amazing! Thank you for sharing! :)
eggs loook so creepy D:
also here because i saw the dark truth of finding nemo...or finding no one where the mother of the clown fish ate all her babies D:

This is amazing! Thank you for sharing! :)
So cool I am surprise that the eggs won’t float away
Supar I love fish
So cute
Why are they fanning them like that?
I assume so that the embryos keep receiving oxygen-rich water. And to keep them clean.
I love the undersea World. this is really lovely thanks, have shared
"I think my clown eggs are ready to hatch"
absolutely breathtaking! stunning!
USAF migrant hudin
OUTSTANDING! Do you know why the parents shake the eggs?
Thank you. They do it to oxygenate them, and I guess to shake sediment off.
Finding Nemo just got a whole lot harder
Clown fish are seen as symbiotism with sea ane mone(adamsia)
So relaxing, interesting, and beautiful.

Wow, what beautiful sight!
THANKS FOR UPLOADING!!!!
Does anyone know if the fish is breathing and moving the eggs around in order to get get them more air?
To circulate the water to bring them more dissolved oxygen. And also to clean them.
