When I was in my middle school, from the first to the last year there, there was this one EOL tube on the ceiling in english classroom, that was in a flemzy rusty soviet made iron fixture, that holds 2 40w t12 tubes, and it kept flashing on eol for straight 4 years I was there. every singe day it kept flashing, and made the ballast inside hum more and more until it was like a drillpress rattling away in the ceiling. On the last week my teacher said "oh my god this hum and flashing is going to drive my crazy soon" so I stood up and said "teacher, let me climb up the table and l will take take out that damaged pesky tube that just will not die, and I will leave in fixture, just disconnected so it will not flash or hum" so she let me do it and She was so greatfull! I noticed that in other classrooms there were many tubes that were good, but not lighting cause they had stuck starters, so I believe in 4 years I've bin there, I replaced the starters in about 100 or more different fixtures, so the good tubes would continue to work as should, and I replaced the tubes in about 10 fixtures by taking out the good tubes from very loud humming fixtures and putting them in silent fixtures that had burned out or eol tubes. . . Those soviet fixtures were one big mess of humming pieces of ugly iron jobs. . .
Vytautas Poška Bravo.In my school i changed 1 starter replaced 1 bulb (Osram Lumilux 840 starved) and connected one bulb which was in lamp holder but not connected.I put old Iskra Yugoslav starter which is metal neon starter and still works after 30 years.
