    My father said the same about yew trees as well, the yew tree at st Nicholas church in Boarhunt my father told me is over 1500 years old. I went to see it with my late dad many years ago and it’s huge and hollow. I hope it’s still there. I appreciate your interesting videos

      Yes, it's still there but they don't seem to think it's really as old as 1,500 years, more like 1,000! www.ancient-yew.org/userfiles/file/Boarhunt%202019.pdf

      @@TimLambert101 Cheers! My dad was probably exaggerating. I noticed the foundations are older so maybe the tree was already there when they built the church? If the yew trees were there for long bows then surly the trees would be all cut down? .

      There is no doubt that yew for bows came from countries from Spain. One English king, (I can't remember which one off the top of my head) in the Middle Ages passed a law that with each tun of wine imported from Spain you had to bring 3 staves of yew for making bows, such was the importance of yew from that country.
