    These are actually Mungyo watercolors that were re-branded by Brustro. Mungyo lets their products be re-branded by several different companies (this includes Sargeant Art, Jane Davenport, Prima Marketing, and Honsell/Jaxon) and now this is yet another one. So if anyone is interested in buying these paints, it is a good idea to check for all these brand names and buy whichever is currently most affordable.
    And I think these really are nice watercolors. One complaint that I have is that based on their own pigment information, they are unlikely to be as lightfast as the manufacturer claims that they are. But other than that they are great paints, very vibrant and with an exciting flow, and I really enjoy using them. It's just when it comes to final pieces and art to sell or give away, that I would recommend being careful with these paints as they are likely to fade over time. But awesome paints for working in a sketchbook, painting just for fun, practice, and so on.

    Nice review, I recently stumbled upon this set and wondered what it is like.
    PY3 is available in two different versions, the more colorful version with smaller particles is less light fast than the other with coarser particles.
    Therefore, it is important for me to have one from a manufacturer who takes light fastness seriously and has an honest light fastness ranking of the colors.

    Hello Sophia! I always check your reviews for alternative brands lole the camlin products and white nights. Looking at the colorm country of origin and pigment lineup, it seems like brustro is actually white labeling Mungyo's watercolors, as they're the only company that makes these dried cakes in thsi very thin pan plastic and the cakes have this weird texture when you use them. I'm amazed that Brustro was able to import the product and sell for cheaper in India, as other companies that whitelabels mungyo sells their products for a little more than the prices we find for mungyo products.

    I saw this a few days back and thought this set was highly overpriced! Well, considering the cost of the empty tin + 24 tube paints + glycerin to prevent paints from cracking, this price is somewhat justifiable. Also, just for your information, the PY3 is lemon yellow is a fugitive color with ASTM rating V. Also some other pigments are also not very lightfast. Considering they are claiming those colors to be 3 star rated, I can't help but feel suspicious of their lightfast ratings. Also, though I don't use black, the PBk 11 in their tube set was the best black which has some amazing granulations. Also, the Greys with three pigments are just meh, along with their burnt umber. And they seem to have changed the Ultramarine formula from a single pigment to a multi pigment one, which is sad.
    Great review by the way! (As expected) Could you please do an in depth review for me like the ones by Alan Jay Quesda? Unfortunately, none of the art reviewers in India does so. Nobody even cares to talk about the pigments or their ASTM ratings. If you could do one, it would be much appreciated. Also, are you planning to do your own lightfast tests? Anyhow, these paints are a steal compared to mungyo which has almost 80% fugitive pigments, except for their flimsy secondary mixing well which sags downwards.
    Once again, an excellent job and thanks for the video chechi!

    • @theabcworkshop
      @theabcworkshop  3 года назад +1

      Gurupada Chakraborty definitely tubes are better than pans. But I think Brustro doesn’t have it’s own manufacturing unit and sources it’s product from third party vendor. Therefore it may not be the same manufacturer who is making the tubes and pans. In this case it is possible that the pigment quality is different. But for a brand like camel, definitely the pigments are seen more vibrant in the tube because of the difference in the binder used.
