I liked the ending. One of the reasons I love gunsmoke is it's realism. Not everything gets wrapped up in neat little packages.

I guess I'll go against the grain here and say that I liked this one a lot. Things in life aren't always stitched up neat and tidy.

I will go against the grain also and wholeheartedly agree
This a great episode of a great series
Likely the best radio show of all

What a shit ending with the cut off point of no resolution!
Thinking that woman at the boarding house who knew just about too much about the victim, probably the killer

I liked it also. Life can be absurd and in response to a previous poster, Marshall Dillion ends by saying they will try to find the real killer.

    Crap ending.
    No ending.
    Crook/murderer unidentified.
Marshall never even tried to find the ruthless killer.
Hate endings like this b/c there is no finalization.
Maybe back in the 1950s people were so thrilled with just having sound to listen to coming out of a box, they didn't care about what they heard, just as long as they could hear something.
Also, what does "SKY" have to do w/ any part of the story.
They could have just as well called it "Waste of Time."
That would have been a better title for it.
    😡

I thought the same about the name "sky" & i noticed there were no music other than at the
Start & finish I think they redone this episode and I believe the old woman The Boarding House maw whatever her name was the one that killed her frog mouth Kate the boy ran because he thought he would get blamed he told Matt Dillon that he felt like killing frogmouth Kate Kush out I'm bothered him a new Marshal Dillon would be after me cause he made that statement but he killed the old man he would have been cleared if he had not you're the man with a knife

I've alsso heard another copy of this where it was the lady at the hotel that committed the first murder.

I've also noticed that quite a few titles of these episodes seem to have nothing to do with the stores so titled. But the show's announcers never give a title for any of the episodes, either.

This is definitely a weaker entry in the radio series. No effort to find the killer of the woman in the rooming house? It would have been easy enough to suspect the boarding house lady who reported the crime.
On the other hand, with the bulk of the episode centered on chasing the little punk who went on to commit a series of heinous crimes along the way (but ironically, wrongly accused of the first murder), perhaps the trail had grown too cold for solving the first case.

I think Billy did it; anyone that treats their horse and other people like he does would likely murder as well.

Shitty ending. Don't waste your time listening. No closure.
