This hymn makes me cry Always. It was my moms favorite. She and her siblings all had perfect pitch. To hear them sing it again I will have to wait till I get to heaven❤️🙏🏻
Someone once asked me, “what does it mean when people say ‘I have a personal relationship with Jesus’?” I had no answer at the time. it was only later, that I remembered singing this beautiful hymn in the church of my youth, sitting on a pew next to my Grandparents, may I be reunited with them again one day. Thank you for sharing .
Sang this song when i was younger. the beautuful words are so encouraging now that im older and i sing it with understanding. its so needed esp now during covid... my God and I!!
The first time I heard this was at Abilene Christian College (in 1956, I believe). Pat Boone sang it with the college chorus. It's always been one of my favorites.
I love these hymns of old--they bear so much truth-yes, we can just talk to Jesus as a friend --what a privilege!!!! I so love the back grounds in your videos --they show the Master's glorious works--who can't see His hand when looking at His creations!!!!
Learned this at Camp Wyldewood/Harding University, Searcy, Ark. One of the major factors that called me to ministry back in 1953-55. I shall never forget hearing it for the first time around "the old lilly-pond" and I knew God was so real and I would try to serve Him all my life! What a blessing!
I appreciate these soul awakening hymns. They reminds us of where we are going and help keep God's people on track. God bless you so much for updoading these hymns.
Among my earliest memories are as an infant sitting besides my mother as she played and sang this song sitting by the organ. This week she was diagnosed with cancer. This song came rushing back . I’m now 49 and praying for God to intervene and beat this cancer. If that not His will; not know her soul will be soon with God. Please pray for her with me. I love you mum (Kathleen)
We sang this song around the pod at Harding College in 1955. It shows the close relationship we can have with God, Hesus, and the Holy Spirit when we push theology, dogmas, and rules and regulations out of the way. That was the way Jesus presented the glories of our walk with God. Thank God, some of that personal experience is peeking through the clouds of history!!
It's hard for me to wrap my head around the fact that my mother never knew this song until she was in her 20's. I've known many of these songs all my life, but this one was written in 1935. She is still living on this side of the Jordan and was born in 1915!!
One of my favorite choral anthems, originally heard by First Baptist choir in Waco, TX in the 50's under direction of Miss Martha Barkema (1902-1999), choir director from 1939 to 1963 and professor of conducting at Baylor University from 1937-1973. Our choir sang it again in the 80's and that was the last time. Thanks for this!
To M West: Why won't you let this beautiful song soften and tenderize your heart to the precious gift of love freely given from Father to His child? Who wouldn't want to walk, talk and laugh while holding hands with their Daddy?
I learnt this song when I was in my teens, I used to love it very much, after all these years without singing it or hearing it sang. Tonight, after reading the scripture, I thought of this song again. It is still as beautiful as before. Yes, just like the song says "...This earth will pass, and with it common trifles. But God and I will go unendingly." 1 John 2:17 (Darby) And the world is passing, and its lust, but he that does the will of God abides for eternity.
What a blessing these videos have been to my heart and those I have shared them with. Thank you sesamonte for your dedication and hard work on this. Until we meet on God's celestial shore, God bless you and yours. Amen.
Amen, beautiful is the presence of our Father in the name of Christ Jesus. If we think sinning is not that bad, we should remember how Sweet is to be close to Him in perfect communion. We, as sons of God through Jesus, How can we be happy without Him? We cannot, we will not perish, but God cares of us more than just the time in eternity, Now is the time to live for Him, do not waste it!
I was 4 when my mother died unexpectedly (in 1956). I did not go to the funeral, but surviving records show that the church 's small choir sang this hymn. As an adult (but before I had "come to terms" with my mother's death), I would imagine myself as a 4-year-old and think, "Mommy, I don't WANT you walking and laughing with God! I want you HERE with me--teaching me how to tie my shoes and color with crayons!" I'm currently writing my Memoir, and clicked on here to double-check the song's words. (I now have a much fuller and spiritually healthy view of her death. Still, it is interesting to compare a child's viewpoint with an adult's.)
Are you asking where is your God? He promises that if you seek Him **with all your heart** He will be found by you. And if by faith you have been adopted as His child, that is forever (eternally) and He has promised never to leave you or forsake you. That said, there are seasons when it "feels" as if He's not there. But He always has good purpose for such times. And, as a favorite Bible teacher often says: when those times come along, when God seems silent and absent, what am I going to believe? The 2 choices are my untrustworthy feelings, or the promise of God in Jesus Christ, the ONLY trustworthy Being in the entire universe, Who loves me more than I can imagine ever being loved.

Today was the first time I heard this song. Touched my heart so so deeply. Absolutely love it.
I am 56 years old and today is the first time I have heard this wonderful song. What a pity.
Singing this on my walk this morning - didn't have all the words right - but walking hand in hand with God is so comforting .

Dear Beth, my friend from high school: I remember like yesterday, your father, Rev. John D. McPherson, singing this precious song.
A very touching and soothing hymn. It elevates my spirit to greater heights.
Sweet, soothing and refreshing indeed.
Beautiful snapshot of a Christian's journey through this world with our God. I love it!!
