Always loved the design of the Dornier 28. It seems like the perfect combination of the optimum design characteristics for a conventional gear, twin engine, STOL airplane. If they were built in better numbers with engines that would give decent single engine performance near gross weight , they would probably make pretty good Alaskan bush planes.

Well, count me among the opposition. I see no justification whatsoever for a fixed gear, tail dragger, twin engine airplane. Even the old DC-3 had retractable gear. Almost wants to make you ask "How come it's not a bi-plane" to keep up with the retro theme. As for the landing, he overshot final even after using 105 degrees of bank. Not impressive to me. Maybe OK if you needed to make a combat landing while being chased by an enemy fighter, but otherwise poor approach and poorly performed.
