Thank you for pointing out your mistakes. They are pretty common and we always need to pay extra attention, when we do this kind of work. Somehow I can also be distracted with a bigger piece, like the battery, and you tuck the tape under it by accident, or something similar.

In my case the two tabs of the battery when I pulled them came off without the glue. It was extremely difficult to disconnect the battery without breaking it, I pushed an expired credit card under a lot of force until the battery came, I also tried to go with floss, but there was no way to succeed in this way. Obviously I did not use the piece linked in the description because it is no longer available but they sell them on aliexpress.

Torx size 0.8 worked out fine for me. I was afraid of not having the required size because of how significantly small the screw was. It was the smallest screwdriver tip I had in my kit.

@@BamboszT yes this is indeed the light under the buttons. But only the light, the buttons stil work. And are now just slightly lit up by the dispay. I just put it back together and everything is working fine except the lights

My Button backlight does not work too. In the video there is no button light too. What is the reason for this? I bought the screen directly from the link above.
Got the screen replaced on my MI A1 after it cracked. MI Service Center has replaced this with 5X screen? Is there any difference between the two? I feel this one is yellowish compared to the original screen plus the original one was sharper.. Thoughts on this please? Should I take it to the Service Center and ask them for A1 screen?
After doing these exact steps the home and back button do not work. No vibration feedback, no light. However the app drawer button works fine. It performs the action and vibration feedback works and all 3 hardware buttons light up. Any ideas?
make sure that the display connector is well placed had the same issue maybe my screen lighted up fully till the androidone logo then went pretty dark after it was because i didnt placed well enough the lcd connector hope this helps or maybe u already solved it (:

Hi all, I have changed the broken display on my mi A1, i´ve installed this custom rom but now and after a few seconds of having my phone turned on the screen goes completly black, whilst the phone is still turned on. Did this happened to anyone? Is it related to this ROM or should i try one official Xiaomi ROM?

Great video. Make sure you pull down the ribbon connector at 13:30 to ensure the capacitive keys have a backlight.
At the end of the video it is not visible that the buttons will light up ...
ok1mlw I suspect he messed up the positioning of the connector - It’s easy to do. My buttons work just fine though.
It is possible ... Before the final assembly I recommend to perform a backlighting test.

13:30 anyone having trouble putting the pin, there is sticker on the back that you should remove (that is not shown in the video).
I have the problem but dont know what sticker you are talking about
@@minecraft1232311 There is small sticker on the back of the pin, that's why it doesn't stick to the surface.

@@minecraft1232311 I think they provide backlight for the capacitive buttons. You can try it without the pins, maybe it will work for you.

The original display from Xiaomi only have lights of buttons......the lcd that everybody sell do not have light of buttons......Thats a shame.......

With the hair blow dryer, is it meant to blow away dirt and the such, or to heat up the phone?
Xavier Teow usually done to heat up the glue to make it easier to unstick stuff.

This is because an important part is missing on the new LCD. LED diode. On the bottom part. Right under the subboard.
