This was a really good episode!! My husband's been diabetic for a long time, and I just got diagnosed recently myself, so I've done quite a bit of reading about insulin - and this is the single clearest explanation I've ever come across!! In fact it actually explains why we have to take insulin by subcutaneous injection, too. I knew about some of the proteins and processes but the illustration of the mechanisms is just so well done here - they make SENSE in a way they didn't before, the various separate bits of information finally lining up into a coherent picture in my head.
    Great job, y'all!!!

My A&P professor taught us the immune system using this exact analogy. Her name is Dr. Margaret Long, and she is an amazing instructor! It helped us to understand the immune system so well.

11:18 An interesting consequence of those transporting processes is that exocytosis increases cell membrane surface area, while endocytosis decreases it. That implies there needs to be a balance between both, or the cell could become too big (potentially rupturing) or too small.

How do viruses trick the cells into letting them in? Also love the new biology vids it's definitely my favorite subject

Proteins again! The viruses have proteins on their surfaces that can mimic "authorized" stuff; that tricks the transport protein, the gate, into opening.

I absolutely love this video and the way it simplifies complex biological concepts! 🌟 It would be amazing to see a follow-up video exploring the evolution of the cell membrane, particularly focusing on Abiogenesis. Understanding the origins and development of this crucial cellular structure would be incredibly fascinating! 🧬✨
