@@AlexPriceMusician I kind of liked the AF's. I have an ??? 84? No cutaway but just saw I commented on Sweetwater's channel on this model 4 years ago. Mr. Memory here.
Awesome video! I want to ask for a choice of budget Ibanez should I buy AFJ95 or AF71f? Or is there other brand that’s going to do the trick with budget not over $800?
Thanks! The Ibanez AF71 is great but it's discontinued now. If you want a floating pickup archtop, I would suggest Eastman - particularly a higher end model that you might be able to find used. Incredible value in that brand. The AF71 and AFJ95 are pretty different instruments since the 95 has mounted pickups and will sound more like an electric, while the 71 has a floating pickup and will have less sustain and a better acoustic tone.
Thank you for commenting! From my minimal experience with jazz boxes😂I tend to like floating pickup more but the reason I stated AFJ95 on there because I saw it on a market the other day for a cheap price but alr sold. Well guess from your comment I'll try to find a good deal on a used Eastman with floating pickups. Also do you have any other brand to recommend or not really?
@@AntonioCendid I love mine.. I think I saw yours on Reverb.. For me it's a low cost grab, throw around, use and abuse axe.. lol good luck with your sale.. someone will get a nice axe.
Do you suggest any books/DVDs/websites for an intermediate looking to pick up jazz guitar? I just scored a this model from a used gear store. Thank you
If you are still looking, a good set of books is the Berklee Modern Method of Guitar, Vol 1, 2,3. This is the text they use at Berklee School of Music which is probably the number 1 Jazz school in the country. Its easy to find the books online. It has a very strong emphasis on reading, which may be overkill to many people wanting to learn Jazz. The book is very strong in presenting Jazz chords, music theory, and Jazz guitar improvisation (with respect to which scales to use). Also presents good rhythm guitar studies. Great all around book.
Ibanez: Nice but not the best. Recently bought An very cheap Vietnamese... Hartwood Novella....with thomastik innfeld swing 12 ..it is super! All together with new strings : 255 euro's... Even has a bone nut,45 mm wide. Body depth 4 inch! Scale 648 mm. Now searching for a cheap perfect amp. Greetings from the Netherlands
1:45 - 1:48 Golden silence, love that!
Beautiful playing. Goodbye Ibby
Great tone!
That was great, Alex. I have not seen this model. Will have to keep an eye open.
It's discontinued now, but you can still find a few floating around. It's not a bad instrument! I think it would benefit a lot from an upgraded pickup

Not really for floating pickup guitars. Eastman just does such a nice job with them

This sounds really good. How'd you record it?
All with the HX Stomp!
I think the guitar will miss you more ;)
