They're one of those bands that ruin other music for you. You'll be listening to something else and in your mind you're like, "Why aren't I listening to Ween?"
My favorite thing about Ween is how difficult it is to describe it to someone who's never heard of it. Cause it's not just that they tackle a bunch of different genres, but it's also hard to get across how every song both sounds like it was made from an entirely different band but at the same time every Ween song feels exactly like a song Ween would write.
@@kellphil76 YES! Powder Blue is the pinnacle of the album, and should/would be considered an all time great, if more people were exposed to it. "I Don't Wanna Leave You on the Farm" is a very close 2nd... with "You Were The Fool" right behind that to round out the top 3 (at least top 3 straight forward mainstream-ish songs) "Japanese Cowboy" "Piss up a Rope" "Mister Richard Smoker" & "Help Me Scrape the Mucus off My Brain" are all amazing also... but in a full tilt Ween way.

Been listening to them since I was a teenager in the late 90's. Will forever be one of my favorite bands. I think they are a hard door to walk through for most people but once you do you there is nothing else like it.
The only song I heard from them was "I'll be your Johnny on the spot" from a snowboard video I had in hs. Just last night I started to listen to them. It took me 37 years but I've been listening to them for 24 hrs and their sense of humor is unlike anything I've experienced from musicians.
It's a shame because I think "Gabrielle" could considered an all great rock song and get the ssme amount of play "The Boys Are Back In Town" does. "Even If You Don't" "Baby Bitch" "Tried and True" "Buckingham Green" "She's Your Baby" and so many more should be recognized for the amazing pieces of music they are... it's just a shame they don't have the visibility they truly deserve.

Had the privilege of seeing ween live a few times....cannot put into words just how good they are.....the atmosphere, the crowd, the music....second to none.
I finally saw them for the 1st time in Atlanta last weekend (both shows). Absolutely mind-bogglingly amazing!!! 2 of the greatest shows I've ever seen. And the fact that you never know what they'll play adds another level of excitement. They played 71 different songs over those 2 nights, and still didn't play a lot of my favorites!!!

I discovered Ween through Spongebob and man they are such an oddly awesome band! My favorite albums by them is the Mollusk and 12 Golden Country Greats (Since i love old school Country-Western music and that album combines it with Ween’s weirdness!)

Spongebob was a major part of my childhood and I remember that line in the show. I didn't understand what it meant when I watched it as a kid. I believe it's the episode where Spongebob navigates through the different dreams of other characters. Was doing manual work whistling piss up a rope and a new guy asked if I was doing Ween? He recommended Chocolate and cheese and he was a great guy so I got into that. They’ve done so much different stuff, they are the pastiche masters as well as proper weird musos.

12 golden country greats is an amazing parody of country music. I really don't like country, but I do like this album quite a lot, and I have to wonder how the great session musicians they hired had to feel about some of the lyrics.

I've listened to Ween since I was 13, and i'm 32 now. I used to watch Winamp TV and there was a channel called "Ween TV." I've listened to every album a lot of the B-Sides, it's still one of my favorite bands, even though I have overplayed them for myself.

Personally, I think Chocolate and Cheese is BY FAR the best album for introducing people to Ween. White Pepper is too serious and The Mollusk is too much of a concept album, and their early low-fi albums, though great, are too far out there for many people as an introduction.

Personally, I think Chocolate and Cheese is BY FAR the best album for introducing people to Ween. White Pepper is too serious and The Mollusk is too much of a concept album, and their early low-fi albums, though great, are too far out there for many people as an introduction.
