  • Nathan shows how to remove a resonator from a banjo. To mount the resonator simply follow the steps in reverse!

It’s obvious, but it’s always better safe than sorry making sure with videos like this 👍🏻 Thanks!

Thanks, I had to remove it to tighten a strap bracket (button? clasp?). It was good to see I was on the right track before just unscrewing things aha.

Where can I just buy a resonator?

    I prefer OB's .
The resonators seem to me as over ill and really only necessary if you are in a band

Hi! I don't have four plates on my banjo but an entire ring instead. Do I start with loosening all the strings before loosening all of the bolts? Anything else? Or just start with all of the bolts right away? EDIT: It's two half rings actually

My question as well! I assume you just do one side at a time.

@@charlespatt I marked the place where the bridge was on both ends with a pencil, loosened the strings a lot, then loosened all the nuts evenly, a little bit at a time. It worked. After removing the two half rings, I did the same thing in reverse order, keeping in mind that the banjo head should be evenly tightened all around and be tuned at around G or G# (you can also make a recording beforehand and tune it back to the same pitch after)

I bought my RK R-20 with a resonator, but it’s so damn heavy to just practice with. I want to take it off, but am afraid to screw it up… 😱😱😱
